  • Today, we are installing our dairy goat fence on our small acreage homestead. Learn how to build a fence and take a look at our rather comical step by step guide including the do's and don'ts of fence building. Homesteading for beginners sometimes means bringing out the hammers and chainsaws, but it is all worth it for our Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goats, Millie and Vanilli. This project turned out to be an easy one that will fit the needs of small and large dairy goat breeds. All of the supplies were easily found at our local Tractor Supply Co. and their awesome staff even helped load up the lumber! It's important to note that setting up our goat fence originally began with my father-in-law, Chip, surveying the land to determine size and spacing. Next, our great friend, Alex, came over and used his tractor and post hole auger to dig the post holes. Then, Rich set the corner posts you will see in this video and from there, we set up the braces and tension lines. Be sure to tune back in to learn how to pull fence wire and tips for setting T-Posts.
