I like them because I like decluttering anything. It's more entertaining than hauls because I feel like people get excited by the newness and opening boxes. In unhauls we get the real opinions
The Ex Hex MUST be the most unhauled book ever. I've been consuming so many unhaul videos in the past two months and this one and The Spanish Love Deception are present in EVERY single one of them, I swear.
📗📘📙 I haven't done an unhaul in a long time because the books I have now are all special to me in some way. But what you have done is reinforced my understanding of the need to take advantage of the resources I have (library, Libby etc.) so that I keep it that way. It's easy to watch people on booktube showing off their hundreds and hundreds of books and feel the urge to just go buy every book I see. But then I remember times I've borrowed a book I've wanted to buy and either didn't like it or thought it was just okay. So this is a good reminder to take it easy and be responsible with purchases so I will only have books on my shelf that I love. 😊❤
100% yes to this! i definitely was eager to buy and get every book under the sun because i wanted to have massive collections like other people, but it started weighing down after a while, ngl😭 so being more mindful with the things i buy has been my approach this year, and the changes have been amazing!
Renovated my room last summer and I got rid of a BUNCH of my books now I only keep books I love and could see myself re read and a small tbr cart feels so nice to know you’ve read 90% of your books
I just did an unhaul yesterday, so this video is perfect timing! I relate a lot to what you were saying about how tastes change over time and also sometimes you can get so caught up in the excitement of finding a beautiful or new book without thinking through if it’s one you actually want to read. The bright side is that I’m a lot more aware of what I’m going to read when I go to buy a book! Props to you for clearing so many out, and I’m sure folks will be so happy to find these!
I loved this book as well! This trilogy has become by go to read when I need some comfort. I recommend the audiobooks if you want some help with the Russian pronunciations.
omg i was absolutely obsessed with lore olympus a few years ago when it was originally on webtoon and she was uploading every week. i have been meaning to get back to it forever but i completely forgot where i left off and I feel you where it comes to graphic novels and manga where i need to read it all back to back otherwise i lose the motive
This unhaul was amazing and I love that you are donating them since books in English aren’t as accessible ❤ I live in a little studio with no room for a bookshelf, so I have a list of books to buy one day when I do have a proper shelf, but for now I just keep space for my special editions that I love 😊 because of this, I feel like I am constantly unhauling a book here and there even though my collection is small.
Great video, Mel! I’m actually moving next month, so I just finished a massive I haul myself. I let go of about 150 books, which leaves me with probably around 200-250. So I can concentrate on the stories I’m really excited about ❤❤
I remember when I first started reading last year; I found so much comfort watching your channel. Then I suddenly stopped seeing your posts. I'm not sure what happened, but I'm really glad I found your videos again!
What a ride! I've donated a bunch of books earlier this year, and it's a great feeling. Being from a non-English speaking Country like you, I know how difficult it was to get books to read when I younger. I was known by English school library lady and by the library people from the main English school. I visited both libraries constantly, always looking for books and magazines. 📚📚📚
This inspired me to try to make a reading room/office for myself or to at least try to start to make one. These kind of videos are motivating to me, so thank you for uploading the whole experience! ❤
this absolutely convinced my to go unhaul stuff while I was watching this lol I only unhauled 10 books but considering I only have 206 books (after unhauling) I think that's pretty good!! thanks for the inspiration lol
Love these unhaul videos! I was able to get rid of several hundred books when I stopped reading YA- it was so hard to let them go but they took up such valuable space.
The Strange the Dreamer and Muse of Nightmare displays made me bump that series up on my TBR, might as well bump up my other series by the author as well!
📚- I just hoarded my books until recently when I did my first unhaul - mind you I've only got as far as removing them from shelves so far, there are so many I don't know what to do with them all lol!! They were a mix of books I'd read and knew I wouldn't re-read and ones I hadn't read but have had for years and years and years and my tastes have changed and so they need to go.
you probably already do this but for the "maybe" books, i'd try to get a hold of the audiobook so that you can read in tandem with the physical version and follow along. that usually helps me stay focused and my adhd doesn't get in the way LOL
i sadly can’t do tandem (my brain short circuits every time🏃🏻♀️), but i definitely saved a few audios on everand and got some from audible to listen to!
hooooly smokes i didn't even realize it's been 4 years since you started. i've been following you because you, jaleesa, christine, and kristin (as well as other booktubers) were my saving grace during the pandemic 💖 love you so much and thank you for sharing your joy!

I'm now toying with unhauling my copies of the trade paperbacks of Fables and Jack of Fables - I loved the comic books initially, but I haven't looked at them in years at this point. It'll leave me some room for Lore Olympus if I do.
This was great! I don't buy books physically very often so I couldn't do an unhaul like this. It would be interesting to see creators reference their ebooks though. I’m proud of any RUclipsr for giving up any amount books. I usually do a monthly thing where I look through my books and see which ones I wanna read(reread), haven’t read and don’t want to read anymore, or read and just don’t plan to read anymore
I finished Station Eleven for my bookclub and I gave it 2 stars. I think the premise is great but the book is really bogged down by the all the stuff in the past. I support your decision to unhaul it!
I haven't unhauled any books lately because I don't own that many books. I mainly use our wonderful library system here in Srockholm, Sweden. But when I unhaul books it's mainly books I didn't like. I almost exclusively hold onto 4-5 star reads that I know for sure I want to read again. OR if the book has senitmental value for some reason, which is rare but happens. 📚
Deal with the Elf king I felt wasn't all that great but the other books in the married to magic world are wonderful! She just released the last one for that world. Like it JUST came out. So I agree, getting into the world of MidScape is very hard if you start with Deal with the Elf king. It's better if you start with one of the other ones and then come back. This is the type of collection where you can read in any order and it will make sense because they are all their own characters.

📚Hurray for bookhauls! Although I very rarely get rid of books, for the most part. I am such a bibliophile that letting go of a book, it is really hard and something I am working on. Thank you for an entertaining video. 😊
I LOVE un hauls and I love ones that are actually ruthless like yesssss! I don’t have to do them much anymore bc like you I’ve really curated my tastes so 95% of the time if I buy it I end up loving it so now I just unhaul anything under 4 ⭐️ and I will get rid of a 4 star if over time I just don’t see myself rereading it.
Razorblade Tears is a terrific book but I would DEFINITELY listen to the audio book. I’m talking edge of your seat, nail biting action and a beautiful story of family love and friendship. I have not stopped recommending it since I listened to it 2 years ago. ❤️
I think most people who started Lore Olympus only when it came out as graphic novels don't keep with it as much as others, like myself, who started the webtoon and bought the books as they come out but we're caught up because we read the webtoon (now it's finished)
iron widow is one of my FAVOURITE books!!! but i will absolutely admit it is hard to get into for like probably the first part! i listened to the audiobook alongside reading it physically the first time i read it and it definitely helped 👍❤️
I really didn’t like Station Eleven, so I’m with you on this. Stalking Jack the Ripper was ok, but to be honest I never once thought about continuing the series 😂😅
I love me a massive unhaul, makes me wanna cleanse as well and I love it! I've like 190 unread books on my physical tbr at the moment and I feel like I want to read everyone of my unread books, but some of them are for sure a little uncertain and those will probably go at the end of the year!
Iron Widow is my current read, like you I got it when it came out and never got around to read it until one of my friends picked it as our monthly read for our book club and its sooo good I'm enjoying it so much!! I do recommend you keep it
Encontré tu canal hace un par de días y me alegra mucho. Este vídeo me inspiró a limpiar mi goodreads to-read shelf cause it was getting out of hand lol.
ah that makes me so sad to hear you did not enjoy throne of glass the second time around! you are what got me back into reading and the first series i got because of you was TOG and it to this day is such a good core memory.. however after the fourth i have not gotten around to picking up the next book although i have them all
@@MelReads everything took way longer than expected bc I had exams and my apartment is still a MESS, but I successfully unhauled every book that didn't excite me (which is crazy for me since I never thought I would ever unhaul a single book) so thank u mel for keeping me the best company 🥹 ♥
hey mel, i had a similar struggle with Station Eleven, i put it down for several months while trying to read it physically. i considered just DNFing it, but when i picked it back up, i decided to listen to the audiobook and it ended up being 5 stars. so if you do consider continuing, i'd recommend listening to it, i think it was a much better reading experience for that story!
Emily St John Mandel is one of my favorite authors, but I'll admit it takes awhile for her stories to really kick into gear. Things only start coming together about 2/3 of the way through the book. Had I not listened to Station Eleven on audiobook, I might have given up halfway through. I'm sooooo glad I didn't!
📚 This is why i read digitals mostly. My purse crying or not, I'd rather not have the disappointment staring at me. I cant give books away to anyway either - 50 books are just sitting in the storage, away from my vision range (they're all kids books anyways) Oh the thunderstorm 😌 how perfect Lore olympus ended so well! Just read the webtoon on your phone or something. Webtoon publications i feel like is better for collection after the story us over. Dang i would love that copy of night circus 😭 Gurl the sayaka murata books😂 don't read earthlings, it's traumatising. Silence of books by june hur was good. Kinda slow tho Gallant... Uff.. Made me cry for a character i didn't even like Dang midnight library too You could just watch the movie for pachinko (i dnfd it too)
i wanna implore you to try to continue monstress because it gets waaaaay better after the first volume. do so if you're ever in the mood for chinese and japanese steampunk female rage.
Oh man I just bought butcher & blackbird and leather & lark Saturday. I seen so many good things but now that I bought them I’m seeing negatives. Fingers crossed I can get through them.
I love unhaul videos. Reminds me of the quote, "One man's trash is another man's treasure" when booktubers donate or give their books to others.
omg i love that!
Damn, that's SO true! And the reason why I donate books to the public library🎉
I like them because I like decluttering anything. It's more entertaining than hauls because I feel like people get excited by the newness and opening boxes. In unhauls we get the real opinions
The Ex Hex MUST be the most unhauled book ever. I've been consuming so many unhaul videos in the past two months and this one and The Spanish Love Deception are present in EVERY single one of them, I swear.
honestly… not surprised🤣 those first chapters were a bit rough
i just unhauled the kiss curse which is in the same series .. this makes me glad that i did
I definitely unhauled it after reading it. It just didn’t work for me although I really wanted it to. I liked the town!
I also unhauled after reading. It wasn’t bad, but it was just kind of okay. I preferred the second one
I DNFd the audio version of The Ex Hex that I got from the library.

@@MelReads everything took way longer than expected bc I had exams and my apartment is still a MESS, but I successfully unhauled every book that didn't excite me (which is crazy for me since I never thought I would ever unhaul a single book) so thank u mel for keeping me the best company 🥹
♥
Watching this unhaul feels cleansing for my soul tbh 😇
hey mel, i had a similar struggle with Station Eleven, i put it down for several months while trying to read it physically. i considered just DNFing it, but when i picked it back up, i decided to listen to the audiobook and it ended up being 5 stars. so if you do consider continuing, i'd recommend listening to it, i think it was a much better reading experience for that story!
332 unread books isn't an impossible TBR.
it’s not, but it definitely feels like it when my typical average is 5 books read a month🤣
I love your videos they bring me comfort 🤍
I loveddddd Iron Widow!!
I’m using this as motivation to do my own unhaul!! ❤🎉
omg yessss🧚♀️✨
go (unhaul) bestie, go 🙂↕️
🏃🏻♀️🏃🏻♀️🏃🏻♀️ (i wish there was a twerking emoji, stg)
📚
This is why i read digitals mostly. My purse crying or not, I'd rather not have the disappointment staring at me. I cant give books away to anyway either - 50 books are just sitting in the storage, away from my vision range (they're all kids books anyways)
Oh the thunderstorm 😌 how perfect
Lore olympus ended so well! Just read the webtoon on your phone or something. Webtoon publications i feel like is better for collection after the story us over.
Dang i would love that copy of night circus 😭
Gurl the sayaka murata books😂 don't read earthlings, it's traumatising.
Silence of books by june hur was good. Kinda slow tho
Gallant... Uff.. Made me cry for a character i didn't even like
Dang midnight library too
You could just watch the movie for pachinko (i dnfd it too)
Oh, I love "The Martian." I hope you read it someday!
I do an unhaul/sell the books I didn't enjoy every other month or so. It also helps that I only have two ikea shelves 😅
i wanna implore you to try to continue monstress because it gets waaaaay better after the first volume. do so if you're ever in the mood for chinese and japanese steampunk female rage.
my brother has them now, but i may do a cheeky reread and see what’s up👀
i love a good unhaul vid
me tooo!!! it’s always so satisfying🥹
Oh man I just bought butcher & blackbird and leather & lark Saturday. I seen so many good things but now that I bought them I’m seeing negatives. Fingers crossed I can get through them.
You inspired me to take a huge look at my over flowing unread pile and get rid of what no loner interested me. 📚
i love that! it feels so good after🧚♀️
