    in 8:56 the buoyant force will be 19.6N not 2 kg because buoyant force = weight of water displaced by object . therefore , weight of liquid displaced by object = mg = 2kg * 9.8 = 19.6N. also , the weight of object will be 49N not 5kg because 5kg is mass not weight , weight will be mass * acceleration due to gravity i.e. 5 * 9.8 = 49N .

    Mam if the weight (force)exerted downwards is equal to the upthrust then why don't they cancel?

    • @MagnetBrainsEducation
      @MagnetBrainsEducation  Год назад +1

      Thank you for your question! The weight (force) and the upthrust do cancel each other out, but there is also another force acting on the object - friction. Friction is the force that opposes motion, and in this case it is opposing the upward motion of the object.

  • @mindlykindly683
    @mindlykindly683 2 года назад +1

    Weight is supposed to be in Newton... How can you consider kg as a weight???.. Mass is denoted in kg not weight...And same goes for buoyant force.. It should be in Newton as SI unit for any force in Newton(N) and SI unit of weight is also N...so basically there was some conceptual error in the video... 7:25

      Buoyant force = Weight of the body in air - Weight of the body in water
      Therefore, In the figure provided by magnet brains
      U can see that the weight of the body in the container is 3kg
      So,
