- I do not like dokkan. But these animations have been absolutely stellar so far! my opinion of the game is certainly improving as we find ourselves at part 3 with a very special highly requested character's animations at the forefront of it all! Continue to support these videos and i will keep making them!

Let’s do a rundown. Active skills are basically skills you can use mid battle. Some are transformations like the saiyan day god goku, some give buffs to themselves or allies, like LR team turles, and some are attacks, like mui goku. Intros are before the fight starts and they give buffs to themselves or other units. Standby skills are new and can be used to get an advantage. Some charge up to attack, some are for a revive, and please react to the 8th anniversary lr gt duo

the mechanic where the animations are redon with different outfits is unoriginally called outfit swap and usually it gives the unit a buff there are a bunch of characters with the mechanic and it is a fairly refreshing mechanic, there are other mechanics as well such as transformations, unit exchanges, revives wich can be done under certain conditions, counters, super attack counters ect ect

@@zero38xt there’s a lot of finite details in the game one of the best units to use is 6th World wide Krillin and Gohan they outfit swap which gives them both a def buff and a ki buff by simply putting on armor, or another unit would be Ssj Goku from cooler movie as his revive if I remember boosts his def for a certain number of turns

I had never read nor seen most of Dragon Ball (og, Z, super, GT combined) before playing Dokkan and you cannot understand how HYPED i was when reading the DBZ manga for example thanks to these animations.
I knew most of the story thanks to the game, but despite being spoiled, most of the iconic scenes were even more hyped than they should have been (gohan dropping his cloth before fighting cell is the best example, i was soo excited for it ten pages before it came)
I am very happy they get the recognition they deserve

I have decided that’s what they are called.
so there are quite a few different mechanics in dokkan. The unvoiced attacks are called super/ultra super attacks and on some units there are unit super attacks where if another unit/units are on the team/turn they will use a powered up attack (for example the goten and trunks or broly trunks are unit supers). The voiced animation after death is called revival. The voiced scenes (before death) are called active skills. There is also outfit change (which occurs either via actives, revival or certain conditions being met). there is also giant form (which is typically activated when below 50% hp)
in 2023 there are 2 more mechanics that were added which are standby skills and domains. Standby skills are like active skills in how they are activated but they power up the more of a certain thing you do to either launch a massive attack at the end or give transformation. Domains are quite new but they change the backround of the zone to whatever the character activates the domain has, and will give varying buffs/debuffs depending on the units.

Beast Gohan was the BIGGEST FUMBLE ever in Dokkan History. Genuinely badly designed unit (He's not bad, but jesus his kit is not good)

Revive: What UI and Evo Vegeta did. Occurs very rarely and special conditions have to be fulfilled for a KO attack to not end the run.
Active skill: Happens player controlled in the turn and is tied with lots of restrictions as well, most of the time an HP or a turn restriction.
Rage form: Is an active skill or sometimes a conditional transformation where you have to be below a certain HP% at the start of turn X. It will give you a free turn of the Unit doing the animations you see 3x and will give you time to set the battle up for the next turn.

Hi so incase twitch didnt fill you in lemme explain the unique card mechanics thing.
So cards in dokkan have different special mechanics that have unique animations:
Counter--self explanatory, dodge an attack and counterattack to deal damage
Nullification--This is a smaller variation of counter, but instead of countering it just makes the super attack deal 0 damage, good for units who block but dont counter
Giant Forms/Rage Mode--So these are basically the same mechanic with slight variations. This mechanic makes a specific character take up 3 slots in a rotation, aka a turn, and it makes them invincible to attacks for at least 1 turn. Rage modes only last one turn but can super attack very easily. Giant Forms last for 2 or 3 turns but struggle with ki bc no links
Transformations--Somewhat self explanatory, a unit transforms, fuses with another character, exchanges aka swaps places with another character, or powers up, getting a completely different passive and super attack as well as links. There are 3 different varieties: Passive/Automatic, Active Transformations, and Standby Transformations.
Active Skills--Active skills are special abilities that a card has access to that can be activated within the turn they are in as long as said character hasnt popped bubbles. Actives can do 1 of 3 things:
1) They can be just an attack, such as Beast Gihans SBC, which attacks the enemy;
2) They can debuff enemies or buff allies or buff yourself. Basically it can be used as support or to power up the units abilities
3) They can be used to transform a character or activate a rage mode/giant form, like with Orange Piccolo
And then the next 2 were both introduced this year:
Standby--Standby abilities are kind of like Active Transformations but with a big twist. Standby abilities cause the character to exchange and allow you to build up power. After enough power has been built up, you unleash it in a Finish Skill, which unloads all of that buildup with some sort of thing. So far there have been 2 types:
A) Attack Finish Skill, where you unload the energy into a massive, super powerful attack, which is what the 8th anniversary units do
B) You Transform or gain a buff. There's a SSJ4 Goku unit who has a standby which either powers him up for one turn and heals, or it allows you to Transform into Full Power SSJ4 Goku whos like omega busted.
And Domains--Domains were just introduced. Basically, Domains are when a character aka a card changes the background and enables a specific effect to BOTH allies AND enemies, so far either buffs or nerfs. The Future Gohan people have been telling you about including me has a Domain which activates automatically, where he makes the arena into the Rainy Future City, and he makes all Villain characters, ally or enemy, take 30% more damage.
Thats basically all the ability types there are, theres also outfit change where all that happens is the character art and animations change but the passive and supers stay the same but they kinda stopped doing it like that recently, although the concept is kinda around its not really the exact same

The beast gohan portion is widely considered among the dokkan community to being the biggest fumble akastuki has ever done
Yeah it was a big thing when that gohan came out, they showed us the card art a couple of days before the animations and everyone was expecting to play as beast gohan because the art animation had him transforming then they dropped beastless gohan (still amazing animation for the active skill). I like these reactions a lot and I hope to see more soon (you paused right on my personal favorite unit in the game lol).

4:27 You see toppo having a sprite body animation instead of the modern smooth quality body. That means it's the enemy attacking. That's how you can differenciate between the revival characters and the non revival characters. Or you will get caught again.

If you hear them talking then it's either an active skill/ revival/ (clothes change boost/ transformation/ exchange/ big forms/ buff in game) basically active skills doing different purpose.

22:43, Rage Form/Giant Form is basically when a character transforms for 3-4 turns and then detransforms, you are invincible when the charaster is in the Rage Mode/Giant Form (And sadly Janemba's Rage Form lasts only 1 turn)

Beast Gohan was the biggest letdown in the game's history at that point, not even a single Dokkan RUclipsr even tried to defend the unit, his kit was mediocre too, the Special Beam Cannon he does is one of the weakest active skill attacks in the entire game damage wise.
Also be sure to check the 5th anniversary LR STR Gogeta and LR TEQ Vegito's Super Attacks animations!

The 8th anniversary units are the teq LR Vegito blue and str LR gogeta blue. Their animations are ripped straight from the show/movie. Another unit you should look at is the str LR super Vegito. His animations a from the kakarot game.

Idk if you know this or not but dokkan has a feature where you can play all except entrance,active, and standby animations at 2 times speed so if some look drawn out or choppy that’s why

The problem was that they made us believe we were getting a playable Beast Gohan but in reality it was an Ultimate Gohan with an active skill that you saw.

everyone was slamming the devs for that beast gohan fumble, 1 of the biggest content creators for dokkan who rarely cusses literally got so mad seeing that animation knowing it's only for an active skill started cussing a decent amount calling the devs stupid and everyone called it dokkans biggest fail ever
also you will lose your mind when you see the new future gohans animations he is a dokkan exclusive "what if" unit where he won vs the androids it is absolutely beautiful and they did my boy justice

@@zero38xt akatsuki (the company that makes dokkan) have a history of fumbling units. This year the units that are good that came out this year can be counted on 1 hand. It's sad honestly.
Rage mode is a mechanic that you become invincible for 1 turn or more and that one character is doing all the attack on that turn. The artwork and attack animation is change for that turn, like janemba he's using his sword or Goku black using his scythe. Some character just change into their angry mode like beerus, ssj namek goku, or vegeta battle of god when beerus slap bulma

I'd be surprised if one of the 121 other comments didn't say this by now, but to answer your question, an "Active Skill" is a special attack that some characters can perform by meeting certain conditions in battle, identifiable by having voice acting and usually special music. There's another type of skill called a Standby Skill that functions similarly but after activating it you need to fufill a requirement to use it's finished effect (EG: Buu Saga Goku and Vegeta having a Spirit Bomb standby skill that you need to charge up before using)

@@zero38xt Game has a lot more depth than what it looks like. There are units that can combo well together, units with passive-skills as long as scrolls, mechanics like type advantage and orb changing, Nuking Charactere etc.
