Santa Lucia

The name of this song means Bringer of Light.
The Festival of St. Lucia marks the beginning of the Christmas season in Scandinavia, and it is meant to bring hope and light during the darkest time of the year. The modern festival of light combines elements of both pagan (Winter Solstice) and Christian (Christmas) traditions. This is sung in Danish. Thanks to our Danish exchange student Victoria Jensen for telling us about her country, explaining the story of the song, and teaching us the language.
