Totally understandable! I do mobile auto detailing and the car dealers i have dealt with are horrible. They all want to pay $80 for a full detail no matter what type of vehicle car truck suv mini van andno matter how dirty the vehicle is.. i dont waste my time with car dealers anymore
Good on you for standing up for your business ethics! I detail my own vehicles so I understand the time and effort involved! Let alone the cost! I'm nit picky also! It's not just the big things, it's the little things things too! My saving grace is I'm retired, yet disabled also! Takes me longer, yet I can always stand back and look at a job well done! After all, that's what counts in the end!😊
this is so accurate, just had to deal with this on a Nastiest LR4 in socal, owner of the store comes up to me while im extracting the nastiest carpet and he say " u gonna do a polish too?" they want all the work for pennies lmfao
You’re going places kid, don’t ever lose your charm and kind demeanor, but also know you’re worth, in todays economy you should be trying to bring home at minimum $250 to $300 a day for yourself after taxes, gas and expenses. Trust me the customers will pay if you raise your prices
And something I've learned is you want customers that are willing to pay. You don't want the type of customers that are looking for "deals" and " the cheapest price" cause those types are the worst cause they expect you to do all this extra work for free.
@Aesthetic Auto Detailing there will always be a bad apple in every crowd but it's always the customers that appreciate you and your work is what makes the Job worth it. Try not to let those bad customers bring you down. Instead use them as a lesson. At least that's how I look at It now! Keep up the good work on the detailing!
Man this video made me realize how good I started doijg this. All those kessons you learned i thought about before hand, whenever a customer scoffs at my price i try to explain it but im not gonna argue i will just move on. I dont work full weeks but each vehicle is around $250 or more. I need to buy a computer so i can book keep better than recipts and notes but im in like month 3 and my profit is decent it feels like. Anyway almost made me tear up realizing all these things i thought about before even launching anything. I should have all my licenses in the next month or so
Very good insights. I buy and resell vehicles and I always leave them super clean. I’m thinking of starting my own detailing business as I feel I have the experience.
Definitely, I agree with you! If you can clean up a car pretty decent and sell a good looking car, that’s half the battle right there. Every time I sell a car, I always sell it clean and make sure I’m honest with t whoever is buying the car. I always get top dollar👍🏽
I learned really quick to never detail dealer cars. They want it fast, really good, but don’t want to pay anything, and on top of that they would want to delay up to 90 days for payment. Big NOPE. The only “volume “ argument is the race to the bottom.
Hahaha I’m familiar with that. They were first paying me with somebody’s credit card, then it turned into the 30 day waiting period. Definitely won’t do dealership work again, unless it’s worth it.
I think you did the best thing for yourself here. Car dealerships are set up for max profit especially in the US. I'm sorry they didn't take you seriously and hopefully you earn tenfold as result. We learn from our experiences and we grow. I have a very good feeling that you'll only keep growing
ughh i worked for a guy who had salvaged cars and repos total trashed cars. he didn't want to pay well so i kept telling him. you clean the mold and dried up food and drinks and I'll give you the money . he's like uhh no i not doing that shit" i said pay up to get it done right or I'm leaving now. he couldn't afford it anymore so he stopped calling me lol😅 whew thankful i not doing that. always charge based on your skill level and amount of work plus gas n chemical used around 40 to 60/per hr is a fair price for technical cleaning and protecting vehicles. its hard work and its hot out there. keep your freakin cars clean and we can charge less that's the only way
Glad you got out of there! Like they say, know your worth. Yup, I agree! Gotta make sure we’re not only getting our investment back, but we’re making a profit as well!
Hey Question, iKnoe it's different for every city But roughly How much is it to go legit? LLC wise and business insurance Iam just starting and eventually hope to grow 🙏
Sorry for the late response! Here in California, (not sure where you’re located or if each state is different) I have to pay $800 annually. That’s the “Annual Franchise Tax”. As for business insurance, I’m sure it varies depending on what type business you are doing and how much coverage you want/need. You’ll most likely have to pay for a city business license as well. I randomly got one in the mail😂so that was a surprise haha Hope that helped out!
@@AestheticAutoDetailing Definitely helped! Thanks lastly, if iam just starting out and have Zero customers I'm sure it's not recommended to go run and get a business LLC and Etc. But iam I still breaking the law? And can face any consequences?
@@fonzymtv9317 damn good question. I just started auto detailing myself. I’m just soaking up info for now and will buy my own equipment 3-6 months from now. Good luck on your journey
I was a detailer for 40 years in a dealership. Even though we were capable of doing those real nasty cars they would outsource them to shops like yours so that we didn’t have a car tied up in the shop for that longer period of time and they could usually get it done cheaper than having us do it. If I was an independent shop I would definitely steer clear of dealerships
From a business standpoint (their point of view) it makes sense! Definitely a learning experience for me. If they pay what I ask for, I might think about it
Late to the party, but that's a solid way to figure out what's fair to bid for those jobs. Find out how much the dealership's detailers/entry level techs/porters make. Never go into a meeting with surprises.
You pay my price or do it yourself. My time and effort means everything to me and I'm out here to make a good living, not work for next to nothing. This is why car salespeople are so despised.
Word up brother don't be letting some dealership push you around. You set up a business so that you can get retail prices. As soon as you work for another company you give up the retail price. Not in all industries but especially with something like car detailing because of the nature of the business. When you work for a dealership they want to treat you like and employee for $13 an hour
Dude wanted me to do insides under engine and polishing for 250 a suv or bigger Van's.... I said that's alot to ask for I want 750 ... that was the end of that and I'll never do it again
Hey guy! Love the videos! Question for ya. I have a 2016 Corvette. I enjoy doing a lot on my own. However, other than waxing, is doing a ceramic coating worth it? Are there any down sides to it? The car is white with some black trim. Just want to make it as shiny and protect it as much as I can.
Thank you, I appreciate you tuning in! I would highly suggest going with the ceramic coating if you’re looking for the best protection for your car. There is a whole lot of prep work that needs to be done, but it doesn’t seem like you’ll have any problem since you enjoy DIY.
@@AestheticAutoDetailing Awesome! Part of me wouldn't mind paying someone to do it but, I also like to learn and if it's not too complicated other than time consuming I may give it a go. Just don't want to ruin my car's paint ya know. Thanks again for the reply. If I go the DIY route, do you recommend any products kits that will give great results and are safe to use?
@@scotty2221 Adam’s Polishes has a great entry level Graphene Coating kit. It comes with the coating, towels, and applicator pads. Are you comfortable with polishing with a DA or rotary polisher? Definitely going to have to do that as well.
@@AestheticAutoDetailing Ah okay. Was hoping to do it all by hand, don't trust myself with a power polisher. Tried it a few times long ago, wasn't good for me.
@@scotty2221 if you don’t trust yourself with a machine, then I would highly suggest the Dual Action (DA) polisher. It’s orbital and rotary, which nearly makes it impossible to burn through your paint; unlike a rotary polisher.
