    Hey Mitch. You definitely need to wear a respirator when cleaning a car that had or has mice in it. My brother is a paramedic and said it can be deadly for your lungs to breathe in the toxic air due to mice. Be careful and we love you. This detail was a blast to watch. Amazing before and afters 😍

      There is a dust that is created from their feces. I knew a fella who camped in a wooden half-shelter over a weekend, and died many months later from inhaling the toxic dust. From what I was told, it was a horrible way to go.

      Not sure I could make an educated guess as I drive a 2007 Mazda CX7 with just over 50k miles, in fact I drive it so little that the warranty on the tires expired with under 10k miles, but they are cracking up from the sun. But what the hay I’ll guess 67k. 😊

    My brother had one in the 80s, it was way ahead of anything on the road. Smooth, quite quick and a head turner too. I really liked going for drives with my brother, not to mention he was an ace driver and learned alot from him being in the car with him. This video brings back magical memories.❤

    Not only have I seen this car before but I used to own one. I had a 1987 XT Turbo in Red. The car was like a space ship on the inside. There were no dials at all, only buttons and switches. The height adjustment was a really cool feature. It would give you 4" in the front and 6" in the rear for clearance. The entire dash was all digital and the glow at night was impressive. It handled very well in the snow with the 4WD. I remember taking it when I went skiing. Never had an issue. Owned it for a couple of years until I bought a New 1989 Turbo Trans Am in Black. Now that was a car!

    Such a worthy car for a full restoration. You just don’t see many of them out there anymore, and from what I’ve read about the XT, only 98,918 were ever produced in total for the worldwide market over its short, 6 year run - 1985 to 1991. It’d be a real shame not to have someone give that thing the love it deserves…

    Amazing! I used to own one of these... electropneumatic suspension, and pushbutton 4x on the fly! The 'hill-holder' was a treat to have with a manual transmission, too. Nice work, this really takes me back. Good luck getting it stuck in a snowbank, one winter I hydroplaned in slush off the hwy in the Pine Pass. Went 15' down a bank, steered straight the whole way down, and when we towed it straight back out I was able to drive it into town. No problem. Second all-time favourite to my Datsun 260z.

    Great job Mitch! I think you should do more of these kinds of details. It's good fun and gets the car a new lease on life. I remember going to a Subaru dealer when it was first introduced in the states and seeing this on the showroom floor. The sales people were pretty proud of it and were showing me how strong the door was by opening it and sitting on top of the window ledge. Quite impressive.

    Looks great! You EARNED EVERY PENNY! The facts/details you shared about the car along the way were great. I have a friend that works at a Subaru Dealership, has a couple WRX’s and shared this with him.
    A quick follow up as to what actually happened with the vehicle would be cool.

    You sir have an amazing talent! I drove one of those cars in the early 90's. It wasn't a bad car to drive. The problem that I had with it was the fact that most people would stare at you while driving it. As a rare car collector, it is a car that I would most likely buy. The Subaru's of that time were very well known for rusting rather quickly. A lot of them didn't make it much past 10 years old due to rust and being very unsafe because of the rust. It's a cool car that I hope does get driven again.

    • @ellaevansbolt
      @ellaevansbolt 6 месяцев назад +4

      Dead right on the rust. I think I would have thrown it on a lift first to see what I was up against. 20 years stuck in the open like that; probably going to be nasty surprises under there.

    I detailed our three cars this summer. I had bought the Detail Geek brushes that go in my drill to scrub the carpets, seats and cloth surfaces. The worst spot was my sister in laws car (1990 Miata one-owner) where she had spilled coffee into the carpet bunches of times through the years. I ended up pressure washing that area over and over and over until the water came out clear. The brushes did an amazing job just like you see in these videos. All cars interiors came out looking like new. Highly recommend those brushes!

    It’s a bit of work to get them running and driving properly. They are weirdly engineered and VERY complicated, but seriously fun to drive! And restoring it will be an even bigger undertaking.
