    Love this. I think Cesar from Gibson said it best when he referred to Jones as a “sonic architect.” I adore his minimalist playing because it lends itself well to the music they create. Great stuff.

    The type of soloing that Adam does makes up for a WAY better live sound. Nothing sounds mushed together or rushed and you can clearly hear every note. I’ve been to tons of shows and tool hands down has the best live sound. I’ve taken many friends to shows and they say the big difference is when seeing tool even if you don’t know the song, it’s still very cool and amazing to watch. Whereas you can’t say that when watching some bands. For instance when seeing someone like korn or lamb of god live, if you don’t know the song they’re playing it’s hard to enjoy and pickup on what’s going on.

    Definitely don't think Jones gets enough credit for his playing because he's not a "shreader" bit neither is David Gilmore who has some of the most beautiful bending in rock music. Like you say Greg, the tension in TOOLS music is the beauty and much of it is in Jones fingers.

    • @mnnicholas304
      @mnnicholas304 Год назад

      Gilmore and Jones are two of my very favorites just for that very reason…their timing and patience makes them unique

    • @HVACRTECH-83
      @HVACRTECH-83 Год назад

      Not sure what you mean or where you've been for the last 20 years lol but Jones gets plenty of credit for his playing, much more than most shreaders and has always been that way, for him it's not speed that earns him his fame, it's being able to perfect mind gluing compositions in time signatures that don't make sense to most but get you hooked as soon as you hear them, but try coming up with your own in this style, you will soon realize how hard it really is, and that he has always gotten credit for

    • @DaveTaste
      @DaveTaste Год назад

      Jones gets credit.
      But then again.... Everything that ever happened is underrated or doesn't get enough credit nowadays.

    I'm just a noodler but like Jones stuff and yours, but for a simpleton like myself, i do not have or will not buy anymore pedals than the ones i have. Reverb, Delay, Chorus, and a Rev G3. How can i dial in Jones's tone and yours for that matter as best i can. Suggestions appreciated.

    • @axeofcreation
      @axeofcreation  2 года назад

      Are you using the Revv as your main distortion? Probably less gain that you think you need. I know Jones puts his delay in front of his amp but I prefer in the effects loop. Might want to add a Flange at some point, used more (in Tool) than Chorus.
