- On this episode, I'm going to show you what adapter you must use in order for your old computer or pos machine (which uses IDE type hard disks) to be able to use the newer SATA type hard disks.

I wonder if one of these would allow me to use a SATA DVD drive on an old computer with only IDE.

Someone on Amazon is saying that these converters can't burn CDs with a CD/DVD drive SATA that it cause freezes and crashes unless the person using it is not slowing down the burn speed so I don't know if anyone investigated that yet.
Hi, I have heard that there may be some issues with using these converters for CD/DVD burning. Some problems may arise from low data transfer speeds in which converters may not provide adequate speed. It could also be due to driver issues or inadequate power to the optical drive, leading to failures during the burning process. Additionally, it might be related to chipset compatibility, where the converter might not fully support the specific functions of the optical drive. But for, I'm onlyl using this to run older pos machines that uses IDE.

How can you make the PC understand if it's in Slave or Master?
Have you tried setting the harddrive's pin jumper to slave or master?

Forget computers for a moment why does items like harddrive recorders with lots of different brands all with different firmware these adapters don't work. In terms in the environmental impact of things becoming obsolete and for the land fills sites just for the sake of a hard drive that is not made anymore. This is unacceptable adapters are bull shit they should release a ssd ide drive that will actually work or if they can make IDE to the same spec as spinning platter
Yes, sometimes I do wonder why they didn't create an SSD that has an IDE connector as an option. It should make all of our lives easier.
@@ReynaxisSolutions they do make ide ssd but mostly 2,5 laptop size and very rare 3.5 full size but they are very expensive and still will not read or format fat 32. manufacturers don't want us to be able to use old computers and other things that we can repair and not throw away.
I agree. Even this converter that I used here is only great in PC's where there is more room for this to install. However, I used it to revive our old POS machines and I ended up with the cover's of the pos not closing properly due to this converter's design.
