Very cool. After collecting the static did reversing the boat before going forward to do the calibrations corrupt the data? I know if you fly the UAS backwards that can corrupt a whole mission.
*Can Lidar see through swimsuits? When I was a kid I bought Xray vision glasses off the back of a cereal box and it was just a bunch of feathers glued to inside of sunglasses.*
Hey Harrison... nice job with you and your crew. I have a "dumb" question... why use a boat? Wouldn't your M300 or M350 shoot that entire lake and shoreline in 2 or 3 drone passes? What is the advantage of shooting LiDAR on a boat vs. using your drone? Just curious...
Looks like 1 of many multiband antennas available for use with a receiver such as a Emlid M2. Not sure why they just didn't use the Emlid RS2 rover with the base? Curious.... reason for this?
Some type of lidars can "see" through water (aerial bathymetry) but that is a totally other level of price. Here usual answer is to add multibeam echosounder on the side of the boat.
Careful.. the IMU for accurate collection need heave compensation. So you'll sell them a point cloud generating machine and won't product absolute accuracies they would expect in a MMS unit. You should know this??
Nice works guys!
And hey Leo! It’s Byron from UQMC. A cool surprise to see you on this channel 🙂 no wonder the data looks so good!
Leo is the best!
Hey Knoll, I've been in the field for over 20 years and I've never had such a cool data collection experience, cheers.
Love to hear it!
there wasn't much in terms of waves this day. But did you think about using double gps on the boat? How to you account for yaw roll and pitch ?
Leading the Way , Best of Luck
Thank you!
Awesome, I saw the data and looking great
You know it! Appreciate the comment.
Regarding the GSNN, does it add accuracy to the scan, also can i use the emlid GNSS
Pretty Awesome! Looks Great!
Thank you! I think so too!
Very cool.

Hey Guys, Did you do any data check shots, with the GPS, around the shoreline to verify the lidar data? If so, that would be great to see.

Haha! I remember those! What a huge letdown!
Is the gps system shown here PPK or RTK. If RTK, does the GPS correct for slam drift real time or in post processing?
No drift. This is all Tightly coupled ppk
What laptop is Leo using?
That's pretty awesome. Would it be possible to attach the R3 to a mountain bike and ride the trail around the lake then combine it to this dataset ?
maybe mount it on a DJI Ronin for stabilization? 😁
It would be possible! Just a little exhausting...

Boat ride.
Because boats are cool! And we wanted to show the capabilities of LiDAR using a mobile approach.
What GPS are you using with the R3Pro?
Curious about this too. What antenna is that?

Well my next question is are we able to hook a Trimble R12 to these units?
It’s the antenna from ROCK Base: www.rockrobotic.com/rock-base
*I wish Discovery would hire you for "Oak Island" just to end that show once and for all.*
*"Yep, nothing here. Never has been."*
Ha!
I'm in Vietnam, I want to know the price of this system. thank you!
Just hit us up and we'll get you the info you need! www.rockrobotic.com/talk-to-sales
Is the LiDAR just scanning the surfaces only, wat bout scanning the underwater topography like sonar...?
Doesn't work underwater... refraction.
Just the surface on this one ☝️

Good times
The best!
@@IndianaDrones I've been busy but ime back. And I have better cash flow. I am ready to get into the drone game.
