Very good video! Nice having these as the rolling stock I have to go on for my commute! Hey Trains on the Brain I have a video suggestion for you 101 facts about Gatwick Express or Southern don’t mind what you pick and credit me if you like hope you like the suggestion
Southeastern are getting a whole load of class 707's because South Western Railway (SWR) are getting rid of them. They're replacing them with a 'supposedly' superior train, but there seems nothing wrong with with the 707's, and they have a really impressive acceleration for a commuter/shorter distance train. The 465's have aged remarkably well given they're 30 years old. They look better than the older stock on SWR.
@@robtyman4281 It’s certainly interesting - perhaps it’s a cost-saving measure because of the pandemic too in terms of releasing them to another company? Thanks for checking in Luka! As I understand it they are still in warm weather storage - so although out of service for now there are no plans to scrap them yet. I believe a couple of the 465/9 units have since come out of storage and have been running again, so could still happen with the 465/2s as well.
Let’s hope so! The replacement tender has been issued and it looks like the 465s will last until at least around 2028, so they have time to bring back the /2s. However from what I’ve heard they have been having corrosion issues with 30 year old sea water stuck in the body shells (the met cam body shells were built in Italy and shipped from overseas.) you can still hear the sea water sloshing about if you listen very closely in some of the /9 units!

@@srrk2508 we all hope he is
Hi folks! Sorry for the lack of response - not long after starting this channel there were some unexpected developments at work and I was given a promotion. Which was great, but I got significantly busy overnight and I'm still playing catchup now. However hoping to resume normal service with the channel soon 👍
Shame the remaining /2s were withdrawn
@@lukastrains793 Seawater? Is that what causes some to creak much more than others?
@@Solomon_C Yes the met cam units had there bodyshells shipped overseas
@@lukastrains793 I noticed some of them creak much more than others.

But clearly Metro Cammel are the best mothers ever
@@lachlansrailwayproductions Yeah BREL had nice ones but Met-Cam definitely are the best.
Each to their own!
