    I remember seeing one of these for the first time as a Kid at Gillingham station.. It really did look futuristic considering we mainly had the Slam Doors at the time. Whilst I prefer the Class 375's for longer journeys, these still do their job pretty well :)

      Thanks for your comment and also your subscription Euros! I know, these made their debuts when I was a kid and now they are the old gunslingers on the SouthEastern! I grew up in Norfolk in King’s Lynn and the near-identical 365s ran out of there - ever since then the Networkers have always fascinated me. Hopefully they’re still around for a little longer!

    Very good video! Nice having these as the rolling stock I have to go on for my commute! One of my favourite things about the Class 465s are their bubble floors that I used to find often in these Networkers. High memories. Honestly I prefer the Blue interior of the Class 465/0s, Class 465/1s, Class 465/2s and the Class 466s, than the yellow Class 465/9s, as I feel it is more modern. USB ports and Plug sockets could extend their lives easily for another 10 years and I would never want to see them go, and when they inevitably go, I hope at least one Class 465 is saved. I have very fond memories of the old standard toilets in the Networkers, only found in the Class 466, as the Class 465 has an accessible toilet and a very large wheelchair area.

      Southeastern are getting a whole load of class 707's because South Western Railway (SWR) are getting rid of them. They're replacing them with a 'supposedly' superior train, but there seems nothing wrong with with the 707's, and they have a really impressive acceleration for a commuter/shorter distance train.
      The 465's have aged remarkably well given they're 30 years old. They look better than the older stock on SWR.

    • @trainsonthebrain
      @trainsonthebrain  3 года назад

      @@robtyman4281 It’s certainly interesting - perhaps it’s a cost-saving measure because of the pandemic too in terms of releasing them to another company? The 465s certainly have aged well - I also like the 365s and particularly their new front ends to modernise them further, at least cosmetically. Wouldn’t be against them doing that to some of the 465s. The questions remains which units will they replace - will it be some of the 465s, the 375s, or none of them?! What if they just ran alongside the current fleet? Lots of questions.

    What is the First Class section like?

    • @trainsonthebrain
      @trainsonthebrain  3 года назад

      Well, it has a table, and it has a white piece of sheeting over part of the seat that says “first class” 😂 Apart from that you probably won’t notice much of a difference. In fairness on all of the units, they are extremely comfortable. Unless you’re partaking on a particularly long journey you probably don’t need to shell out for first class.

      Hi folks! Sorry for the lack of response - not long after starting this channel there were some unexpected developments at work and I was given a promotion. Which was great, but I got significantly busy overnight and I'm still playing catchup now. However hoping to resume normal service with the channel soon 👍

      @trainsonthebrain  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for checking in Luka! As I understand it they are still in warm weather storage - so although out of service for now there are no plans to scrap them yet. I believe a couple of the 465/9 units have since come out of storage and have been running again, so could still happen with the 465/2s as well.

    • @lukastrains793
      @lukastrains793 2 года назад +1

      Let’s hope so! The replacement tender has been issued and it looks like the 465s will last until at least around 2028, so they have time to bring back the /2s. However from what I’ve heard they have been having corrosion issues with 30 year old sea water stuck in the body shells (the met cam body shells were built in Italy and shipped from overseas.) you can still hear the sea water sloshing about if you listen very closely in some of the /9 units!
