    Another advantage is that you never have to be mindful about it being in your vehicle in extreme heat or extreme cold. The disadvantage is that the battery pack jumpers are more powerful. Trade offs.

    Your battery needs at least 3.5V, according to the manual for the first generation of this product, which I own. My battery died in my driveway, so I took the opportunity to test this product. It had 3.7V no-load voltage left, but wouldn't charge up the Autowit jump starter. So, if your battery is really "dead" in a situation where you have no alternative means of charging up the supercap jumper, you'll be SOL. You can, however, charge this unit using a power bank that puts out at least 2a @ 5V (takes about 25 mins to charge). Regardless of this limitation, I still prefer the supercap jumper over the untrustworthy Li-ion jumpers (of which I've owned several).

      Thanks so much for your opinion - I feel that same as you about these - they are better than ones you keep charged. I really don't like to have to keep something charged or have one more thing to maintain on or in the vehicle. Since I have three drivers to look after it becomes difficult to maintain them.

    Hi there thanks for the awesome demonstration
    One question
    Do you know of its possible to override the feature of the device, to start a car without a battery in it, after charging the device from another car?

    • @LakesideAutobody

    It's a pretty interesting idea. Although at least for me like 90% of times when i need the jumpstarter, the battery is so empty it even won't light up the lights in the dash (when you leave the lights on for example). If the battery is down at like 1 volts i don't think it would be able to charge up.

    • @LakesideAutobody
      @LakesideAutobody  3 года назад +1

      I'll have to see how it does on a completely dead battery. Maybe it takes longer to charge the capacitors but still works the same. I thought it was a great idea too and worked like advertised.

      @jimurrata6785 3 года назад +2

      I'd be interested to see if you can/could "grab" a jump from someone else and then attach this to your car. ?
      I keep 25' 2/0 cables in my truck specifically because of situations where someone else is nose-in a driveway or parking space where I can't pull up in front or to the side.
      If I could just grab an instant boost from my truck, and didn't have to sit there, hood open and cables draped around in the snow, that would be even better.

    • @LakesideAutobody
      @LakesideAutobody  3 года назад +1

      @@jimurrata6785 It says to do that in the instructions if your battery is too low - which only takes about 3 minutes to charge it with a fully charged battery. Can be charged with a USB cable too.

      You can always keep a cell phone battery bank along with this or charge it off someone else's car. Or just bring it in the house or work and charge it. Id rather have this then the other ones that are basically a battery bank of 18650s. This is much more versatile.

  • @fuzzwarmy
    @fuzzwarmy 3 года назад +2

    Great concept that unfortunately hasn't worked for me. Every time the battery has died, which has happened a few times, it has completely lost its charge and SuperCap 2 has been unable to jump start it, even when fully precharged. Luckily, I also have a DieHard Quick Start that I plug into a wall socket and it does the job, though it takes many hours to recharge the battery.

      This thing is amazing! I've had this in my car for over a year, forgetting I had it until my car battery died yesterday. I hooked it up; it fully charged in about 10 minutes and started my car right up 👍It's nice not having to worry about keeping it charged since it isn't necessary.

    • @LakesideAutobody
      @LakesideAutobody  2 года назад

      It's sold on Amazon. One thing to know about this product is that you do need a bit a juice left in the battery and it does take time to charge from that juice. The good thing is that you never have to keep charging it - just leave it in the car. It's perfect for those situations where you left the lights on, left the hatch open or left the interior lights on. Hope that helps a bit - Jerry

    Lakeside got another question for you about the s10 frame am I better off sandblasting the truck frame to get the rust off ? What grit medium do you recommend ? Coarse black oxide? Next question do you recommend powder coating the truck frame ? Are do I just go with a rust preventive primer and rubberized undercoat for the frame you know I'm a Michigander to need your expertise and knowledge!

    • @LakesideAutobody
      @LakesideAutobody  3 года назад +2

      This is what I use: www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/black-diamond-medium-blasting-abrasives?cm_vc=-10005 - the rougher the better for frame I would say. You might want to try a needle scaler from HF. I use my air hammer and knock all the loose stuff off first. You can grind it too with fiber resin discs 24-40 grit. Let me know how it goes :)

    Hi. I was wondering if you might do a review of the Skin Zipper? I have seen a few people using them and I am wondering if they are as good as some people claim.

    • @LakesideAutobody
      @LakesideAutobody  3 года назад +2

      I used to have a tool something like that from a snap on tool truck or Mac tools. It worked pretty good. Here's the disadvantage that I found with my tool maybe not the Skin Zipper. 1) couldn't always get to everything so you ended up grabbing the hammer and dolly anyway. 2) didn't always pinch it together as well as a hammer and dolly so you'd end up grabbing the hammer and dolly again. 3) I didn't have as much control with the tool as I did w/ h&d - causing a ding, or some other damage. Just my opinion though - my tool worked pretty much the same a the Skin Zipper

      @@5065ca No - never. If you're car battery has ZERO juice the Super Cap is useless. If it has a little bit of juice you're in luck - it sucks every bit of energy out of the dead battery and releases it all at once - it's actually pretty amazing.
