People who have reconciled themselves to taking their own life often appear happy and at peace with themselves in the final days leading up to the act. It has to do with knowing that the the seemingly endless struggle with depression and hopelessness are coming to an end. I wish I had. I have no idea if I could have stopped him or talked him out of it but I would certainly have tried. Still hurts 18 years later. Please, anyone out there, if you've hit that moment where suicide seems your only option, talk to someone. Anyone.

I feel you Jack. My youngest has attempted suicide twice. Institutions, trips to the ER at 2 am, no one can understand how helpless you are when an adult loved one decides they just want "outta here". I was lucky enough to have him move in with me. We're fortunate that he and I have always enjoyed an open, judgement free relationship. He's much better the last couple years, some people are too smart and to sensitive to cope. Developing a life strategy in which you don't feel like shit, despondent and overwhelmed every waking moment, is a lot harder than most people can ever truly understand.

Motivated and Medicated - you need Jesus the spiritual warfare is real - the fight is supernatural, you need prayer , these demons are killing everyone because they can - because we fail to understand what we are up against. How do you fight something if you don’t know what it is. I’m speaking from my own experience-as soon as I understood this, I was delivered. The spirit of heaviness, bible says to put on the garment of praise, rebuke the devil and he will flee for you. Put on the amour of God - he is faithful to recuse and heal. The demons are real, but God is mighty, and more powerful.

No offense, but if someone wants to kill themselves, they're going to do it. Plenty of suicide victims show no outward signs of depression. Sometimes it's just going to happen.

    • @LianaSeini
      @LianaSeini 6 лет назад +8

Dane Potmo - so this may help someone out there. I was suicidal, had the spirit of depression(bible calls it spirit of heaviness) a I don’t know how I got there. I came across teachings and scriptures that talk about demonic spirits who enter you. Demons are persons without bodies. So they inhibit humans. Jesus was casting our demons where he went. I have always been a social person. For the last 5 odd years I had been struggling with severe depression, isolating myself, functioning where I had to - and then withdrawing from life. I searched and came across a pastor by the name of Derek Prince who talked about how we get negative thoughts - if you start talking to yourself it’s more likely than not you have a demonic spirit - long story short, o got prayer, rebuked the spirit of depression- and the spirit of death (suicide) oh they are real. Finally understood that the war on me is spiritual. As God delivered I no longer have suicidal thoughts or depression. I’m light but I have to fight my own mind constantly relying on Jesus and rebuking negative thoughts in the instance they come up , which these days it’s easy for me to do. Imagine what spirits enter everyone even those who believe in God - their entry points can be anything from an idol, to reading tarot cards - it’s that easy and if you don’t stand in God word - how are u going to fight against something you can’t even identity- the struggle is real, but knowledge is power. I pray that someone hears this and is blessed and freed, because all things are possible through Jesus. Also check out Mark Heman RUclips - I hope this helps someone and that you get relief, and freedom from the bondage of whatever demon you are carrying around. God has a prescription for you. Seek and you shall find.

I think most people have suicidal thoughts occasionally. I went to see a psychiatrist once about it and he said there’s a difference between fantasising about suicide because your hurting so much from a break up or whatever it is, and then people who are genuinely suicidal as in they can follow through with it. Personally I just think it’s the ones who can’t take anymore depression and are actually brave enough to leave. I don’t have the courage to hurt myself. Sometimes depression is so bad it just feels better to get the fk out of here. Obviously Anthony had had enough of this life. And that’s okay. It was his suffering, no one else’s. So no one can judge.

I feel bad for people who cannot just accept the truth. Anthony suffered from depression all his life. he spoke about it many many times. But there are people in this world who make a conspiracy out of EVERYTHING. Their hatred of Hillary overrides everything in their life. They have surrendered their intellectual sovereignty to Donald Trump and just believe that everything out of his mouth is the truth when in fact the exact opposite is true. He lies about everything. Hillary did not kill Anthony or anyone else and this conspiracy theory has to be just about the most ridiculous and stupid thing I have ever heard and anyone who believes that crap is really not too smart.

He struggled with drugs and alcohol and was imperfect but that is exactly what made him special, because he was utterly human. I’ve been depressed at times and so I believe I can see when people are depressed and people say certain things too! I do have someone to help me. It took me 15 years to find him but I have a professional that I see and I’m not afraid to say it and also he is the best in my opinion. I’ve been through a lot in my life so many others wish it hadn’t taken 15 years to find him.

They're killing these idols they've created for us, left and right... calling it suicide in hopes that people in our celebrity-obsessed culture follow suit.
      It's working nicely for them.
Suicide rates have TRIPLED just since 1999, and that's based on 2016 numbers... there will be new reports soon showing even more increases.
      Don't fall for it.

It could be that his life was threaten but people can commit suicide because they are going to be killed by someone else if they do not do it, so they will take their lives if someone is threatening them however I have seen the depression so many times in others, so it’s hard to prove why he isn’t here anymore!!!

I think they surprised Bourdain. He doesn't show the signs of a man who has to go kill himself or be killed (like Chris Cornell, for example).
I think that's the difference between the celebs that have agreed to their suicide long in advance, and the ones that have no idea it's coming.

I am devastated. My father used to watch "No Reservations", "The Layover", and "Parts Unknown", and I'd watch it with him. It was one of the few ways we bonded together. He inspired my dad to travel more, and has inspired me to travel as I get older.
It's funny, because another person that me and my dad mutually enjoyed was George Michael, and he died on Christmas of 2016.
I'm only 19, and all my favorite celebrities are dying. I feel old already.

I remember another episode where Anthony authentically revealed his anger and showed what a difficult person he was to work with and please. Anger is a veil of depression. Depression is primarily chemical. Low Magnesium, Vitamin D, B vitamins... All of which are depleted by alchohol consumption. Alcoholism is a self medication for depression.
Many depressions stem from not feeling cared for (not worthy) or safe at an early age. PTSD therapy is a potential solution. Currently, I find EMDR an effective therapy with medically assisted withdrawal Rx.

Danny451 Fuentes such ignorant and cherry picked ideals you have about God who you've never personally experienced. Except for the part where you were created and felt love that you will never feel again after your cynical life is over and you're separated from the love of God for an eternity. Those silly fairy tales as you so pointed out were in fact done to prove the foolishness of man. You proved that point quite well like the talking ass did. You know, when you try to pull your goofy points from some atheism video you watched or if God forbid you are some former preacher who said screw God and I've met a few of those there is one thing that never has happened in your pathetic, joke of a fake existence. You've never actually experienced God, an actual relationship with your creator. Because here is the thing. No matter how much you think you're educated or beyond such things, when you have you know it. When God shows up in your life time after time after time and does the impossible that only HE could, you know it is nothing to scoff at. It isn't happenstance or chance or a joke or bullcrap. I've cursed God and turned my back on HIM and when I came back He was there. As a matter of fact the only way to know there is "no God" is to in fact be God. There is no other way to know beyond a shadow of a doubt (well there is a belief system that admits the word God doesn't exist but that is the goofiest thing ever and they're saying no argument can exist) but you do know because you argue so vehemently against Him. You may as well argue the Easter bunny is fake because in essence your argument is almost as silly to constantly fight against. But in the end, like I said, you really do not know and that hits you in your gut and your heart some where to be so sure of something you're so unsure of. To have no point to exist and have this incredibly intricate universe that just exploded and decided to "be" is the most idiodic idea and thought man ever possessed. The narcissism to believe that nothing cared about you so much yet you should fall in line and be this decent human being for nothing... What a waste of a good time. If that was the case I'd just run a drug empire, do whatever I pleased, screw whoever I wanted, kill at will. Why honestly care about my actions? Oh wait, I've done some of those things. But why stop? Because I wanted to be a decent human being to other blobs of random cellular entities? Screw that, there is no point. Anyway I'm done. I see you "good people" laugh at something you have no real concept of when I wouldn't even waste my time If I still believed like you all. I'd just be a nihilist... What a sad sad way to "live" if I were in your shoes. So stop pretending to be condescending to the Jesus freaks. It makes you a sad and pathetic individual, a joke. God have mercy on your pathetic and my pathetic soul.

    • @ar-sithf.austin3744
      @ar-sithf.austin3744 6 лет назад

Danny451 Fuentes God does those things because He is God and He is the Creator. It's His will, not Danny's will, not Aaron's. I can question it all I please but that will never get me all the answers. God is the only real love I've ever experienced that never let me down. Every single other person on this earth has, but not God, ever. I know why he had imperfect people write the Word, because that is who I identify with, screw ups. I'm one and I need a savior. I was raised in an exceptional household and told God to go hang. Funny thing was he already had. Now it's nothing but simple exchange. "Thank you" and "help my pathetic human life". That's generally enough when tree going gets rough or tuff or great and stuff. Anyway my point is that God still loves you and me even when we think He isn't real or its all a sick joke and we're the stupid punchline. Or maybe your life's perfect and it's just waiting for a moment to fall out from under you and knock your dick in the metaphorical dirt. Either way there is someone there when no body else is. I'm living proof of that and I say all this because I give a crap and I'm not prefect and want ever pretend to be something I am not and can never be. Take care, all of you... I miss Bourdain already and if I don't see any of you in the end that I flamed and blasted to hell and back then I'll see you on that "otherside" the bad one ;)

Tony had a flair for words, a self made man that was eloquent beyond his years, he spoke from the heart and told his stories and a description of his journeys in those far flung places. His food descriptions utilized few words but with an understandable content that would fill a book. Like a poet in full bloom he made life an interesting journey and the explorations of cultures along with their various foods opened the eyes of many. In the end chose HIS final destination at HIS time and place. In short, like Sinatra's song he did it his way. As a conservative we didn't have or share the same political ideas, but nonetheless I had a deep respect for him and his approach to life after so much struggle and pain, and how to find its real meaning. RIP Now Tony!

I feel many of my generation are in despair over getting old: health issues, just the loss of youth. We felt we were avoiding old age with phrases like "40 is the new 20" with many of us looking younger than our years. But the big 50 hits you with health issues and sagging skin. You start thinking your life is "same BS, different day". Soon you start thinking as you get older your health is definitely not going to improve. Everything becomes depressing, especially when people around your age die of "natural causes". My own chronic pain issues with advanced arthritis in nearly all my joints, including my spine and my once sharp mind turning to mush is very depressing.

Money fame good food can't bring you happiness we think it does and we try to think why someone would take there own life when they have it all but we don't see what goes on behind close doors. People hurt in different ways everyday we have to open our eyes and if you think that any person is hurt and think they will hurt them self help them try to help even if they push you away help them. By them pushing you away if just another way of saying help me more you might not understand but you will figure it out. Suicide is real and people have to be more aware of it learning about it.

I know depression. A lot of people think depression comes from without. They think it comes from bad times and bad feelings. They think a particular bad event can start one's spiral down into that dark place. That's why they are always so shocked when someone like Anthony Bordain does this. They are are right yet so wrong. Imagine a beautiful sunny day in a familiar place with familiar people you love. Even that can be a trigger. If you've ever been depressed, you understand that statement. Depression can come from insecurities. It can come finding new love and the fear that it will be lost. It can come from a loss of a loved one. It can even come from being happy and feeling you don't deserve it. It is an unreasonable feeling of hopelessness. When I get depressed, I think of the people I love. The people that depend on me. The pain it would cause them if I'm gone. Thinking in this way takes me out of the selfish and into the selfless. I think about specific events with specific people and what they would want of me even if they're gone. And then I can breath again. The best thing you can do for someone suffering from depression is to let them know that you care. Let them know that you need them. Let them know that you love them. Talk about those special moments you've experienced. That funny line that made you laugh uncontrollably from that obscure move they made you sit through. That unexpected and most beautiful sunset you ever saw while walking together that was peaking through the concrete and glass towers of NYC. That special breakfast consisting of toast, a cup of coffee, and love before that big interview. Good memories. You must also never forget to make new memories. It is most important to give someone who suffers from depression your time. No I don't mean time spent texting or even on the phone all though that's important too. I mean go and see them as often as you can.

Suddenly not eating is indeed a sign. Call, knock on the door, keep reasonable sense afloat. I barely escaped that sign if not for constant reminder that i still matter, that I'm still needed, that I'm still loved. Keep being there, never leave that person unattached, unsocialized for more than a day. That's how much dedication and caring should be put on someone who suffers depression. And it's a lifetime sickness that needs a lifetime cure. Not that hard to prevent and cure, but very difficult to find the right person, the right situation, the right life, the right love, as a cure. The key is consistency and amount of interaction to the cure, to the loveone that shows how the depress, the suicidal still matters. It seems impossible, but that's the cure, the only certain cure to a debilitating sickness of overwhelming sadness and loneliness.

The importance of taking depression so seriously and not stigmatizing it. Kate Spade too. Thousands go through and are afraid of going to doctors because of what people will say or think yet most of them are very accomplished.

If anyone seeks mental health help they can never get life insurance even if there was never a suicide attempt. I know because of a family member. Also w New laws that person can never own a gun. I'm talking normal depression like when someone dies u grieve. They don't put patients in dif categories sadly the insurance companies treat everyone the same whether it's severe mental problems or just normal depression. & BTW psychiatry isn't proven also some drugs make people suicidal as a side effect!

I suffer from depression and suicidal thoughts sometimes. I have health insurance. My husband pays for it and I have my own. We work really hard on those days in which I feel really depressed, but so far we have a beautiful son and I have kept on studying and living in several countries...learning 4 languages BUT you need to be open about it with your friends. family and have their support.

Depression is no joke. I'm so sad. The woman who said Anthony was such a light to the world, was so right. I've always loved him and sensed his goodness.
A whole lot of people don't understand that depression isn't mere sadness. It's a brain problem and it sucks.
Sticking around can be a serious challenge at times, and people who over-simplify and say, suicide is a selfish act, don't know what they're talking about as all kinds of things can and do go terribly wrong with the brain. And sometimes, a brain reacts very badly to a new medication, or a medication that use to work, doesn't any more. All kinds of reasons.
Depression often drives people to addiction, another complex issue that often goes hand in hand with depression, which Anthony also experienced. Anyrhing, just to feel ok, if only for a while. But self medicating is so not the answer. It only makes things a thousand times worse.
Science is making great strides with brain trouble, but for many, they haven't seen the benefits or gotten the help they so desperately need.
For all us who've lost loved ones to suicide (ufortunately, there are too many of us), and/or with family histories of depression, those of us who suffer, sometimes only occssionally, and other times, all too often, we know the stigma and the ignorance that is still too widespread among people who just don't get it, I say, hang in there, push yourself to exercise, eat right, take cool showers, practice slow deep breathing and meditation, and share what you are feeling.
    RIP Anthony B. 💔

Fame is not all it's cracked up to be. I saw a documentary on Davy Jones at the height of his fame. He was staying at a hotel in a city he was unfamiliar with. Just him, no family, no friends, he went down to the duck pond and fed the ducks. You could just tell he was lonely and depressed. Susan Boyle also found out the depressing aspect of being on the road, Donny Osmond could relate to Susan's feeling so cold about a unfamiliar hotel room in an unfamiliar city. Elton John would also go into a pretty deep depression after feeling good after having pleased an audience because all of a sudden they were just gone and he was all by himself.
I think it was Led Zeppelin where the drummer quite at the height of their fame because he missed his wife and kids and didn't want to have to go out on the road anymore. The fear of losing one's popularity, being away from family and friends and familiar places, can lead to too much of an emotional roller coaster ride and make it very hard to stay on an even emotional level.

It breaks my heart how society is not reporting what needs to be reported and spoken upon and that the side effects of legal prescription drugs with side effects of suicidal thoughts? I don't get it and this is why I no longer am on any prescription drugs and they gave me the thoughts also but I prayed and God answered! I have been prescription medication & drug free since 2010 and so glad to be alive! You do not know what people are going through until you have walked in their shoes! - Valerie Cheers Brown
