I Bought A Truck!

  • Sorry for the radio silence everyone! It’s been a cold January and I haven’t been riding the two wheeled machines. I don’t feel like dumping it on ice on my way to work!
In December, Kelsey and I drove back to Pennsylvania to spend some time with our families. We took my “trusty” 2007 Kia Sportage LX V6 4WD. It got us there and back just fine but in the back of my mind I knew it might have been our last trip in the thing. After all, there were some serious repairs looming in the horizon.
When we got back from Pennsylvania I ramped up my car search. I had been looking since the summertime but hadn’t found anything reasonably priced that fit my needs.
I had been after a Honda Element like I used to own (mine had 280,000 miles when I parted ways with it in 2020 and it still runs), but something felt off about that decision. And of course, it would still be a pain to haul motorcycles around.
I found a few nice Elements, I test drove a Nissan Frontier and also a Toyota Highlander. Both of these cars were incredibly clean, but I still couldn’t justify it in my head. I had kind of given up on finding a car to replace the Kia until I came across a 2007 Ridgeline for a good price near where I live. I zipped down to the dealership and was surprised to find some laid back salespeople that weren’t up in my face trying to get me to buy something. “Take it out for an hour two,” the sales guy said as he handed me the keys. “If you want to be out longer just call me and let me know.”
I drove around for probably and hour, just familiarizing myself with the truck and how it drove. It was a Florida car and was remarkably clean for its age. Its carfax showed 60 service records and all preventative maintenance was done. It was very well taken care of. I combed the car over and made sure everything worked and that I could fix the things that didn’t. I was able to get a good trade in deal for the Kia and secured the truck for myself.
That was three weeks ago! I’m digging this truck and I’m super excited for a new year of adventure and opportunities to take my motorcycles and bicycles new places! I’m excited to go visit Tyler or my parents and take my motorcycle with me now!
There’ll be more Honda Ridgeline videos incoming. I just wanted to make a quick video and show you all what I decided to buy.

Great choice, towed an 18ft Rpod camper all over the states, including up Last Dollar Road in Telluride Colorado with a Ridgeline. Never a single problem.

Best vehicle I’ve had so far . Had 2006 and managed to get to 277000 before the ignition failed 😞

Sorry your ignition failed! That’s awesome that it made it to 277,000 miles though. The Element I had made it that far. I hope the Ridgeline does that for me too!

Yep, hence how it can have the in bed trunk and such a wide bed.
