Welcome to 2025, my friends! I thought it would be fun to start the year off with a video from the archives. I made this in September of 2019 in Scranton, Pennsylvania. At the time, I was a member of the DiscoverNEPA Cycling Team. I had been working at the bike shop Veloce, and on weekends we would travel to local cyclocross races and interview race winners for another channel, VeloceLogic, on ...

Off-Road Rodeo Links! linktr.ee/offroadrodeo A big shoutout to Wes for setting this ride up. I'd never met Ron or Tom before but they were cool dudes with cool bikes. This was a great way to get back out on the moto for my first "real" ride since coming back to Asheville post hurricane. Conditions were just about perfect. The temperature was around 70, it was nice and sunny, and the dirt was pr...

Off-Road Rodeo Links! linktr.ee/offroadrodeo This is my first motorcycle ride back in Asheville. I hadn’t ridden here since the weekend of Hurricane Helene when I was out looking for cell service. We roll our regular loop in this and you can see just how bad the devastation was to areas like Carrier Park, Biltmore Village, and along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Things feel weird here. Off-Road Rodeo Links! linktr.ee/offroadrodeo During the three weeks I spent in Pennsylvania, I made sure to get out and ride my favorite local singletrack. It had been a long while since I had the opportunity to really get out into my old stomping grounds. This is my favorite of the loops in my parents' immediate area. I've ridden these trails probably 100 times. Every time I ride them, I think...

Cool video I just bought an XR150L and I absolutely love it!!
Why did you decide getting the XR150L instead of the TW200
Mostly just curiosity. I wanted own one to see what it was like and so that I could put it to the test. The TW is a fantastic bike and if I had to do it all over again I might have gone that route. Nowadays I’m riding a CRF250 Rally and that really is where it’s at. It’s ultra capable.
Your dad needs to be less camera shy...LOL
I know, right??
Do you notice a big power difference from the xr
Major! I love the XR, but the Rally is noticeably more powerful, has better suspension, and is just overall a more comfortable ride - especially if you’re tall like me.
Awesome ride! Should check out Dixon r Miller. That's a fun ride into lake harmony. Do you have any gpx files of this run you could share? I'm getting into adventure riding and have been watching your videos to learn of more dirt in our area. How do you typically find these? You use onx or Gaia?
The file is in the description. He did a great job with it.
@@traelee7576agree looks nice. From being in the Poconos surprisingly there isn’t many dirt roads out here and end up heading to honesdale. I was wondering about the gpx because there looked to be a lot of gates along the route and I was wondering if they were only opened certain times of the year.
Thanks buddy! I thought Dixon R. Miller was just for ATVs? I’d love to use that to come up from the other side of the mountain to make the loop a bit bigger. Hit me up and I’ll hook you up with a route! offroadrodeo@gmail.com
@ sent you a email let me know if got it. Maybe we can ride together one day. Dixon is gated mostly but open at specific times of the year for travel off the atv trails.
Great video! Taking pics (with glove on) while ridding off-road made me giggle inside. 😂 I try that sometimes but it never works out for me. Sweet bike, enjoy it!
Haha I impressed myself by not dropping my phone and being able to actually take a picture 😂
That's a nice looking gravel bike!
This gravel bike is built different 😂
How are the ergonomics with regard to riding while standing? Can you do it comfortably, or do the handlebars need risers for that? That route you rode would be a lot more comfortable if you could stand on the pegs.
With my height standing on the Trail was nearly impossible, even with handlebar risers. After doing the Smokey Mountain 500 route with these dudes on our Trails I decided it was time to move back to big bikes to preserve my back 😂
How are those kemimoto gloves holding up?
They’re good! The ones you see in this video are not them. The KemiMoto ones only come out when it’s below 45 degrees. I like them a lot. The only thing I’d change is making the length a little shorter. Because I wear an Apple Watch it gets a little cramped around the wrist area. Not a huge deal but it gets annoying.
I live right down the road....blakelee! You should check out the falls👍
That’s awesome! Thanks for watching! Which falls are you referring to? The ones on the Francis Walter Dam Road? Or Hawk Falls in Hickory Run?
Dude. It is NOT powerful for what it weighs!
Which one? Neither is powerful for their weight, they're under 200cc lol they're not bad for what they are though.
Great video I love the Poconos
Glad you liked it! It’s a beautiful area.
I would be more interested in seeing the Yamaha TW200 compared to a Honda CRF300L. Two grand more for a TW than that XR is crazy. XR allllll day a better deal. But the CRF300L is only $500 more than the TW which also is a WAY better deal. So basically honda for the win
You’re right, those are some crazy price differences for sure! That would be a good comparison
I had a white xr 100 when I was younger best bike ever wasn’t the fastest but always started first kick got a front sprocket that was too lose and stripped the thing out and had to sell it
Sounds like it served you well!
Awesome comparison
Thanks for watching!
Bro i wanna see the xr ride again
I’ll post a video with the XR soon!
Hey, dude! If you ever wanna do some gravel roads with us, let me know. We live in Dallas and do LOTS of gravel in Muncy Valley, Benton, Forksville. Be happy to go out with a loop with you!
I’d love to hit some gravel with you guys next time I’m back in PA!
That’s a pretty cool spot for the GPS
Thanks man! It makes it a lot easier to see my route and make changes when needed.
Low and slow but it looks like your keeping that little bike upright just fine. 🤣🤣🤣
It's all about picking your lines! 😂
Good stuff
Thanks!!
And still not Available to Europe up to this day😢
It’s crazy to me that Honda hasn't brought the Trail to Europe yet.
I’m taking a chance and order them, Hope yours a preforming well still. Thanks for info
I have since sold my Trail, but they were perfect until the day I sold it. I rode the Smokey Mountain 500 on the Trail in April and it performed great. 👍
Ct125 NEEDS a low range gear selection like the older ones
That would definitely make it more practical for some backwoods exploring!
Need to level your handlebar brace.
I think what you’re seeing is from the GoPro wide angle. Either way, I’ve since sold the trail so the new owner can double check 😂
Love Blackwater. Eglin too.
It was rad to ride there. I'll have to check Eglin next time!
may i ask how tall are you? would that xr be ok for 6''2?
I’m 6’2”. It’s entirely possible to ride it at our height. I added 30mm handlebar risers and ProTaper CR High bars to bring the controls up more. That being said I also have a CRF250 Rally and that’s definitely better for tall folks like us.
@@OffRoadRodeo thanks and thanks for the advice. i'd rather check out the xr150.
Honda should make all bikes water cooled like the mtx125 in 1990. Less noise, more power and better emissions for a small extra cost
Totally agree 👍
The simplicity bro no radiator no coolant
When you measured your hand for these, how close is it to their chart?? Cause i hate buying sending back cause its to small or big 😎😎thanks great video, ive been thinking about buying these
The chart was pretty dead on for my hands. I have long hands and thin fingers. My dad’s hands are about the same size as mine but he has thick fingers and he needed the next size up.
What is the name of the last dirt road.. it does not look like the one by the dam.. JT riders. If you and your Dad want to ride let me know..
Hey! I’ll definitely take you up on a ride the next time I’m home with my moto. I’m living down in Asheville, NC so I only get back up there a few times per summer with the moto. As for keeping your riding places secret, no worries, I won’t GoPro whatever we ride. I’m not sure the name of the road but its coordinates start roughly near the strip club outside WH. Coordinates are: 41.0868520, -75.7733170 (also known as Ice Lake Rd)
@@OffRoadRodeo thanks i found it will be ✔️ out Thursday. About a mile up the road is a nice dirt road that is really hard to find..
@@PA-Tammy Hmmm, have a few ideas as to which you might be referring to. We’ll have to get out for a ride in the spring so you can show me. If you shoot me an email at offroadrodeo@gmail.com we can trade contact info
@OffRoadRodeo I'm a 61 yr old woman "old" but skilled and we ride yr round if you're Dad still has the klr he is welcome to tag along as well
Very Cool! Thanks for the video man!
Glad you liked it!
Hell yeah dudes👍🏻
For sure!
Wish I could meet up with some people who want to ride in this area.
Hey! I’m living down in Asheville, NC but I’m down to ride the next time I bring the moto home to see my folks! There’s some dudes that ride up near Scranton too. Join the NEPA Dual Sport group on FB and you might be able to find a crew!
We ride woods ST and Big bike ADV out of Jim Thorpe pa. Let's ride all we ask is not to post the rides we need to keep them from being taken away from us..
@@PA-Tammy You got it!! I have many bikes, but major problems getting people to ride with!! I have a KLX 450 dual sport, and allot of 300 enduro's
I know Honda wants to keep the price low on the XR150 but seriously? A rear drum brake? Come on Honda.
Yeah, a disc brake would be nice on a bike like that.
Bro that whole bike is corners cut to save a buck
💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
Thanks!
This is cool to find this on my feed lol. We’re out of Caldwell County, Granite Falls. Probably 45 min up I-40 to Ashville.
That’s awesome! Some beautiful riding out your way too!
you shouldnt use this gas filter
Thanks for the comment! A month or two after this I replaced the fuel line without a filter. I sold the bike last July but had such a great time with it when I owned it.
Nice ride! I was just out through North Mills a couple of weeks ago on my 300 rally. Was going to ride yellow gap out to the pink beds but it was closed. Did you figure out what happened to your speedo display?
I was thinking about riding my bicycle across Yellow Gap to scout out what’s up out that way. I haven’t heard anything or seen any pictures. Speedo was a blown fuse. Because it blew the fuse and lost contact with the ECU it also threw a code. It was a whole ordeal but got it taken care of no problem!
It looks beautiful out!
It was!
Cool video. Can you drop a link for your cell phone holder?
www.quadlockcase.com/products/mirror-mount-motorcycle-scooter?variant=32248633488 They make cases for nearly every phone. I recommend getting the vibration dampener or else it will damage your camera on rough terrain.
The heat is barely noticeable Only tested them inside but I expected way more warmth on the highest setting, is this normal?
I'd say something is wrong with yours then. Mine get hot enough to make my hands sweat!
Hey bud, new to the area and me and my DR would love to do some exploring! Do you happen to have any GPS tracks?
Hey! Sure do! Here's the one for this video: ridewithgps.com/routes/49127667 I'll clean up some other tracks and have more NEPA footage and routes soon too.
Do they warm the fingers, too? It's hard to decide when youtube says one thing, but anaxon reviews say another.
Haha
😃
Hitting the Gap!
Yessir!!
Glad you are back in Asheville 👊
Woof! 🐶
a piece of pvc pipe under the stock cap will do the same thing
👍
I really appreciated this video! I've shifted from the ADV160 / CT 125 to the XR150L. Wondering whether you're open to a phone call? I've got questions about protective gear, etc., and am looking for recommendations!
Seems busy out which is good to see
For sure! 👍
I just took a ride on Pearson Falls Road in Saluda yesterday on my 300 rally. If you’ve never ridden that road, it’s gravel and a creek runs alongside it. It’s passable, but they are still clearing it as of yesterday 11/9. The damage was unbelievable.
Thanks for sharing. My brother lives in Ashville too, he was lucky, his home is up the mountain a bit.
Thanks for watching. Glad he was alright!
