    PART 3 OF 3:
    HURRICANE CREEK ROAD
    I'm really at a loss of words on this one. This road is maybe the most fun road I've ever been on. It's obviously meant for dual sport motorcycles and overloading vehicles. It's got several creek crossings that might be deep depending on the time of year and recent rainfalls. It's got steep challenging bits. It has a few technical rock sections. It's just perfect.
    I imagine this is the kind of riding I could do everyday for the rest of my life and never really be sick of it...other than the having to clean the bike over and over and over part.
    The road starts right off of I-40 before the Harmon Den exit. After entering onto the road it rolls up to a small cabin/farm thing where it meets a creek. After passing the house the road retreats back into the woods along the creek. The road starts to break down from here. There are several water crossings although each of them are easily navigable. I'm not sure what this would look like when the water is higher though.
    Slowly, Hurricane Creek Road begins to gain elevation. At a certain the creek is no longer visible and you realize you are on the edge of a mountain. We met a stuck Subaru Outback (a new one too) at this point on our excursion. And it was nearly stock! Its only upgrade was some BF Goodrich K02's on it, and nothing else! We were amazed that the driver had made it so far. But he was dangling on the edge of the cliff and there was a line of Jeep's lending a hand to get him unstuck. I wish I had a close up video of them winching him back onto the road. The "crunch" of the bottom of the car off rocks was both horrible and satisfying to my ears.
    After freeing the Subaru, the Jeep's were kind enough to let us pass and we zipped down the road. Within 15 minutes we reached the end of the road and began working our way back to the truck. The GoPro died on the way back, but the most important footage had already been captured.
    If you find yourself looking for something fun and challenging, check out Hurricane Creek Road. It's a blast and I'm looking forward to riding it with some more friends in the future!

    Best group of videos on the XR. Honda should be paying you. I've been on hurricane Creek but not on a bike. You should put together a ride out with XRs. I'd go

      Wow, that’s very kind of you. Thank you.
      I’ve been putting this thing through its paces and it’s been a great machine. I’ll have more videos with it this year.
      That’s a great idea, I’ll have to put something fun together.

    The videos like this one, without the 360 PIP, are so much better. The 360 camera is really only good if you use a lens correction filter on it. Otherwise they're a bit nauseating.

      @@OffRoadRodeo good content though, I'm enjoying the off road videos. Just waiting till my bonus comes in at work to decide if I'm going XR150L or maybe getting lucky and finding a good deal on a CRF250L Rally (Or regular 250L).

    Do you encounter a lot of situations on the pavement where you can't keep up with traffic? Or can you get where you need to go on roads under 50 mph?

    • @OffRoadRodeo
      @OffRoadRodeo  3 месяца назад

      With the exception of this ride I stay off major highways and so I don’t ever end up in situations where I can’t keep up. In this case I wasn’t worried anyway as we were going the speed limit. The bike could have gone faster too.
      On roads with speed limits under 60mph I’m rarely worried about keeping up. It can cruise comfortably at 55-60mph.
