Literally was having the hardest time figuring out how to make longer skirts w/ 45" width fabrics and almost gave up..then i found this video. THANK YOU!!!
I just finished sewing a skirt/dress with this tutorial - THANK YOU! It's a demin with little gold dots, and I made the skirt as you directed and then added a detachable dungaree sort of top with a self-drafted bib and straps. I can wear it as the skirt alone or as a dress over any kind of top. It's so cute! THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!
Thanks. My job is on furlough until this virus is out of the air. I'm trying to learn a new skill, AND I get to make my partner look dope! I'll get a picture when it's finished. It's my first try at this, so I'll probably screw it up.
So if i sew two of these half circle skirts together, I’ll get a long circle skirt, right? I just have to use half of my waist length when calculating the waist circle radius?
Hello Eryn, thank you very much for your tutorial. I was wondering if you was actually able to fold your fabric that way because it is a knitted fabric. Many thanks
Great question! The fabric is knitted, but it did not have any stretch in it. So, I treated it as if it was a non-stretch fabric. Grainlines are always given as guidelines on patterns, but I encourage you to play around with manipulation and placement. Breaking the "rules" may give some great results!
You can make the skirt and attach it to a top of your choice and make a dress. I don't be doing anymore circle skirt tutorials as I've already done three.
I've heard many people use the terms differently. So, I'll give you a disclaimer that that is "my definition". If I cut 2 panels to make a whole skirt, I consider that a half circle. You're welcome.
I really love your tutorial I watch it over and over.... thank you so much for taking your time to teach us newbies.... one question though is this a full circle skirt?
I shop at a variety of places. I just read the description online for the width or if I'm shopping in person, I read the bolts. Most fabrics I purchase are 50-60 inches wide. Here's a list of my favorite stores: stylesewme.com/the-best-fabric-stores-for-fashion-sewers/
I said in the video that I explained the measurements in the other 2 circle skirt tutorials. This video is only to show how to fold the fabric to get a longer length! :)
Hey! Love the tutorial! I was just wondering where you got those huge sheets of fabric, sorry if this is a dumb question, but all the ones I’ve seen at the stores are already cut in half like how you showed in the beginning. If this is an obvios question sorry, but I’m new to sewing
Happy to answer! At the beginning of this video, my fabric was folded in half. As the video progresses you see me unfold the fabric to show it's full width. (So think of a sheet of paper folded in half. That's what you see.) In the fabric store, the fabric is folded (like at the beginning of the video) and wrapped around a cardboard base. It simply saves space. The width of fabrics come from 45 - 60 inches wide when completely unfolded. The fabric in this video was 60 inches (probably a bit more). So you can find these fabrics at any fabric store! Hope that makes sense - welcome to sewing!
As I mentioned in the video, your skirt length is limited to the width of your fabric. So, your skirt, at a maximum, would be approximately 43 inches taking a half inch seam allowance at the waist and hem. If that works for you, go for it. If not, you will need to use a wider fabric.
Can you use this way of positioning the fabric to make a seamless (full circle) using the quarter circle pattern and still get a maxi length or does a maxi length require multiple panels?
so cutting it out this way with the one fold facing you and drafting your radius and hem all the way around (half circle) gives you the full skirt when it is off the table? To me it seems you get a half donut? Please excuse my stupid brain. I am just affraid to cut it out wrong.
yeah ! it was really weird.. but i ended up just cutting more of the waist off and it came out perfectly. maybe i was just confused with the waist radius.. :)
@@Stylesewme well now they do; thank you for fixing where on your site they were pointing! FYI I watched two videos and the links on both just gave an error message on your site.

Do you have a video on how you created your sewing table. I’m interested because it looks like you have a lot of storage space.
No I don't. I'm not handy AT ALL. It would fall apart before the end of the video! lol
This tutorial is a big help. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for this....can I use Ankara fabric?
Yes
Okay, I've been wondering how to accomplish this forever. Thanks.

Love this, thank you! Just wondering does this still work with printed or sequined fabrics? Or does it turn the prints upsidedown/sideways?
Thank you this is great! Can you do a circle dress?

Which material use for long circul skirt??plz give knowlage about it
I used a double knit.
Wait. You only cut out one panel? Or did you do more off screen?
thanks for the video. I can't wait to make mine. l love your fabric. is it knit. n can u give the link. thanks
Check the link in the description box for pictures. I give another fabric option.
Thank you i was trying to figure that out ...what width was your fabric....
60in

Thanks i thought it might be ..ill def make one soon
Thanks for the tutorial and the link to the others!, Question, I noticed that you only folded once so is this a full or half circle skirt?
It is a full skirt as I only cut one panel for the whole skirt.
oh ok thanks, i thought half a circle you fold once and full circle you fold 2 times.. thanks for answering me.
I've heard many people use the terms differently. So, I'll give you a disclaimer that that is "my definition". If I cut 2 panels to make a whole skirt, I consider that a half circle. You're welcome.

Hey, Melissa! Thank you!
Hi ! Can you please tell me did you divide the circle skirt radius by 2 and that's how you got the half circle skirt radius ?
I made a tutorial on how to do the calculation. The link is in this video's info box.👍
Thank u .. Finally got it
Love your tutorials and I'm in circle skirt heaven! XOXOX
Beautiful
Already messed up on another sheet but I think I could use the rest of it for waistbands or something

Wow beautiful skirt.
love your videos so helpful
Where can I find the description box?
thanks for the tutorial dear! you have some great videos ^_^
Hi!What kind of fabric did you use? the skirt looks great by the way
It was a performance knit I had in my stash. It did not stretch. It was similar to what a band or cheerleader uniform was made out of. Thank you!
Thank you so much, it's the best tutorial I have seen. I subscribed you show so well.
Can anyone confirm that this works with stretch fabric? I am using interlock cotton.
I can't find the way to find the radius for this skirt. Can you tag me on the correct video?
where do you get wider fabric?? I can't get a longer skirt because my fabric is only 45in wide. Any ideas or suggestions??

Style Sew Me is it possible to make a skirt with a 45in width fabric?
Yes, but it won't be this long.
Do you think this would be good for a graduation?
I think this would be lovely for graduation!
sorry i can't find your link to show me how you got the measurements! lovely colour that green :)
I said in the video that I explained the measurements in the other 2 circle skirt tutorials. This video is only to show how to fold the fabric to get a longer length! :)
Anni, if you clink on the icon picture at the start, it should get you to her other videos.

This is so easy and beautiful! how many yards of fabric did you use?
Tamara Webstercrucey you're watching these too? small world!
at 2:16 ....she said about 3 and 1/2 yards
Did you have the grid on top of your table specially cut or was is ready made?
It's custom. The link is in the description box.
thank you
which kind of fabric will be good for maxi/circle skirt?
Any fabric you want that is not super stretchy.
Can I use my floor I don't have a table
Hey where did you get your pattern weights from? I can't find cheap ones anywhere.
Home Depot

is it possible to do this with 45" wide fabric? I can tell that yours is a 60" wide fabric.

BEAUTIFUL! THANK YOU
is this considered a half circle skirt?
Yes.
What kind of fabric is that?and how long is that fabric?
It was a performance knit, I believe. Like a band uniform fabric. I think it was 60 inches.
It was a half circle that u cut. I cut a half circle from one side and another from the other.Divide half waist by 3 to find radius.
How many yards of fabric did you use?
raniyah89 these skirts usually take around 2 1/2 to 3 yards depending on the length you want.
3 1/2yards
thanks
nice, too bad I can't find any of your other videos
what kind of material did you use?
I used a performance knit.
If I used very stretchy fabric could I forgo the zipper?
Yes, BUT, you will need to draft your waistband smaller so that it will stretch around you and not loose.
wher did i see a vidio of a circular skirt and they folded the material in a triangle
Can you use this way of positioning the fabric to make a seamless (full circle) using the quarter circle pattern and still get a maxi length or does a maxi length require multiple panels?
No, it is very different to get the look you want.
Where did you purchase this fabric?
I got this fabric from Fabric.com, but it was a couple of years ago. It was a knit like you'd find in a band uniform.
so cutting it out this way with the one fold facing you and drafting your radius and hem all the way around (half circle) gives you the full skirt when it is off the table? To me it seems you get a half donut? Please excuse my stupid brain. I am just affraid to cut it out wrong.
Yes. If you don't trust it, try it on practice fabric.
this makes a half circle skirt not a full circle skirt correct?
Yes, half.
should show had drew pattern
I forgot to ask what is the width of the fabric ? Thank you
Hmm, I do not recall since this video was so long ago. I tend to buy 55-60inch widths, so that's probably it.
I cant see the final skirt. The link is broken
Working on it. Thanks for letting me know.
Fixed.
nice
What is a panel
i followed this tutorial and the skirt doest even cover half of me..whhat did i do wrong? i used the calculator ?
Did you fold your fabric the way I show in the video?
yeah ! it was really weird.. but i ended up just cutting more of the waist off and it came out perfectly. maybe i was just confused with the waist radius.. :)
Glad you figured it out!
None of the links work. :(
Yes they do.
@@Stylesewme well now they do; thank you for fixing where on your site they were pointing! FYI I watched two videos and the links on both just gave an error message on your site.
But this is not a full circle skirt, this is a half circle skirt, correct?

Some type of performance knit. It didn't have any stretch.
