Hi! Thanks for the great closeup camerawork! I would say that the only difference between the two techniques is that with the chain method you are working over a slightly chunkier circle. I am not sure why people are so flustered over the magic circle method.
I think the important thing is once you have tightened the circle (however you make it) you thread the end through a needle and work the yarn end back the way you came a little ways, being careful that the first backward stitch goes over a yarn strand thus not directly following the same path. 🙂
It’s nice to see you & a few others, bringing back this technique. I feel it’s more secure than the magic circle and much easier than the double magic circle. Thank you, have a blessed weekend. 💜🫂💜
Thanks, i didn’t know that you could close it with crocheting over the tail. Awesome. I do use the Magic Circle but this would be great too. I love making hats. I will do this technique for my next project ❤
Thank you I am "new" to crochet in a circle and this is wonderful! Is there a formula to keep it flat? Like so many cast on to how many in the next row, then the next row etc.? Oh I just heard you did so next time. Thank you.
If it’s not the lighting, please see a dermatologist soon to check your right thumb; having a dark line in the nail can indicate melanoma. I wish you well.
Usually 4 or 5 chains will work for most projects. I always use 4 chains when making hats, however, if there’s not enough room to get that first row of stitches in the circle, take it out and add one more chain. Good luck, you’ve got this👍🏼🌹💜
That is the best tutorial I've ever watched. Thank You

You're welcome! And that is true! And I've never done the magic circle, I just know that for some people, it's difficult or comes apart on them ♥️

My magic circles have a way of unraveling in a project after awhile, so I just chain now. Problem solved for me!
I've heard that from other people as well! It's crazy 😩
Mine got cupped

How do you know how many chains to do if rhe pattern calls for a magic ring but you're doing the chain method please?
