Don't give up guys ): It took me many times, lots of trial and error before I got it. Think of all the cute stuffed animals you could make ! Once you get past the hard part, you'll be able to do all of that.

Do you know what an amazing teacher you are?!! I’ve followed 6 video tutorials over a full week and no one has anticipated just how lost a beginner is at every single micro-move. It’s amazing to see and hear EVERY movement at a pace that a beginner needs!!! Everyone else glosses over one or more moves, because it’s automatic for them so they take it for granted, probably not realizing they’ve just left us in a lurch! Nothing is automatic when you’re beginning. It’s like holding all the ends of a full plate of spaghetti, and your fork and your knife, and while trying to figure out which one goes in between which finger so you can pull one but without dropping everything else. Thank you for holding my hand through every single step of the process. I know I can do it now!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Am I the only one who doesn't see the "hole" that I'm supposed to slip the hook through?? Every time I try to slip the hook through the hole, the hook ends up leaving the slip knot. 2:51

If you are not seeing the hole you may be chaining to tight. Try loosening your tension.
I can kind of see the hole but it's really tiny how did she do that

Just learning to crochet recently, and this video is fantastic. I have yet to start the ring, but I sat through the entire video figuring out how it works before I give it a shot. You explained this very well, taking your time and acting as if we had no prior knowledge (which some of us don’t! I sure don’t) thank you!

I've spend days trying to find a tuto that was understandable and clear on how to make a circle with a chain start. I have a yarn that is too rough to make a magic ring. And when I work with chain, I'm so used to sc into the chain that I was lost. I didn't know you had to just ignore them and yarn over it. Thank you so much!
I LOVE how you give the tip about finding the hole. No one else does that.

There are easier ways to start a magic ring. Look around some more for them
Just hang in there and don’t try to be too ambitious at first. I have completely learned from RUclips. My first projects were basic squares, then I made my dog a very simple coat. I kept up with it even through aching hands, learning to not hang on so tight or make my stitches too tight. Now I can make almost anything watching an instructor on RUclips. I make baby sweater sets, hats and just finished a teddy bear. Now it’s very relaxing. So don’t give up. I never thought I could do it but I can🥳 now.
It's the easiest because you can reduce the size of it as you start stitching to get a better grip and tension and modify again as you stitch. YOU TOTALLY CAN DO IT!👍...the fun part of crocheting is the eraser----just rip out the stitches and start over.

I think you should try starting with a square method. The one that looks like it could be a scarf. It hurt my brain less to look at

the chain method is the easier one
I restarted like 15 times but I finally got past row six and have almost finished up until the heel! I definitely think this could be an easy project with some extra practice!

I’ve watched quite a few of these tutorials. I have been crocheting for 30 years and am venturing into new stitches and patterns. This was the most pleasant and informative video I’ve seen. You should ignore the thumbs down. There are so many unprofessional videos out there. You do a very nice job!💜

i disagree. the freaking lady wont stop talking about patterns and im getting frustrated. none of us here came with a pattern, we're all here to learn how to make a dang ring! we can download patterns and figure out that they're different AFTER.
Thank you for your patient and follow able tutorial. So many others blow through so fast it gets tiring having to pause, rewind, play...just to try and see and remember the stitching and try to do it correctly without getting too frustrated.

I've watched so many tutorials and every time they get to the part where they stitch into the ring they do it at lightning speed and I just can't get it. And no, slowing the video down does not help :(
Maybe youre not a visual learner, i would recommend getting a crochet book , and see if it helps. There are also a lot of crochet communities in many different social media communities that can probably help you! Hope this helps!
I’m new to it too but let me tell you, the first 20 time I tried I didn’t make it, now I got it. If you really want to learn it I recommend getting a book when you can see and try at your own speed. Don’t give up, it’s not that hard.
If videos don't work, try asking your friends or relatives to teach, if not sign up for a Month class to learn the basics.

For any one still feeling confused, I suggest that you refer to ebooks on crocheting while watching these tutorials...that's what has helped me so far.
Fantastic so easy to follow I now have a choice on how to start rounds the chain method is definitely the easiest but I love how the magic ring completely closes up the hole .... although mine is a wee bit messier than yours 😂 thank you so much for demonstrating 💙

Thanks for this simple and slow teaching. I have already done over 100 grannies with the open hole in the center and I like it, so will not use the magic ring, but for other projects I will use the magic ring! Appreciate it.

Hey! I just wanted to say, EVERY SINGLE tutorial us beginners watch, the part when you do the first stitch and then start doing the 8 of them, YOU GO WAYYY TOO FAST... there’s no instructions on where to put your yarn or hook and it’s very confusing

I so completely applaud you, for helping me complete my first magic chain! Yeah, as I am brand new learning the world of crochet, I had to learn to hold the hook as well after 3 packs of different yarns and hooks I've finally found what works for me! I am large-handed its best for me so far to use a K hook, yet using larger yarn helps also I think I'm using a 6 gauge, I'm still learning also with Lion Brand yarn is much better for me. Now to learn patterns is my next adventure, wish me luck I can only hope to learn Amigurumi basics to do some animals for myself ;)))

I have a pattern for the red heart turtle scrubby, and you are supposed to be working in a joined round, but the instructions just said to ch 4 and work 11 dc in the 4th ch from the hook! Nothing about the slip stitch or the circle 😅 This tutorial was just what I needed 🙏
