On the day of the funeral shoot in NY, someone from the show called Brian Cox and told him that he "obviously" didn't need to show up. Cox grunted and then proceeded to... show up. He later said that OF COURSE he had to be there, because if the fans and paparazzi didn't see him, it would be apparent to everyone as to who the funeral was for
That scene with Roman breaking down in tears at his father's funeral was such an emotional and heartbreaking moment especially when it's implied that Roman was the most abused out of all the kids. Kieran did a phenomenal job
As Kendall said Roman fucked up and Roman being so trauma bonded with his dad that he was looking for punishment but Logan is no longer there to give to him
Ewans speech humanized Romans abuser in front of him, I think that’s definitely part of why he starts breaking down instead of being stoic during the speech
I do have to disagree with Achara... Roman isn't feeling rage at all he's feeling deep pain, sorrow, and possible self hatred which is manifesting as self harm.
Yeah you're absolutely right it's clear roman has masochistic tendencies along with often using regression as his defence mechanism We saw him regress during his funeral speech where he begins to cry and hold his arms a bit over his head (like a child) and ask questions about taking logan out of the coffin (like a child) And since roman was beaten as a child especially if he behaved in a way that would embarrass logan (like crying loudly and disrupting a funeral) but with his father dead AND him in this childish state he goes and seeks punishment from others so that it fits the pattern hes used to
37:05 is the same music that played when Logan was giving his speech in the bullpen at ATN. Those are the only two times we hear it. It was a subtle way of making us think Kendall was finally becoming his father.
They said in interviews that the camera work was meant to reflect the fact the funeral was being recorded, to make you realise the ‘celebrity’ nature and the ‘power’ of the funeral; to show how influential the ‘performances’ at the funeral are, for who has the most power etc… as opposed to a normal funeral.
The 'Because you f-ed it' line between Roman and Kendall is really interesting - I don't think Kendall is referring to the funeral, or realises that Roman thinks he's referring to the funeral. Kendall is talking about the deal, or lack thereof, with Mencken, but he has his emotional blinders up an doesn't recognise that Roman is generally hurting. After all, he's a sociopath.
To me it seems like Kendall's saying the deal we had with mencken was strong UNTIL Roman started crying at the funeral, ackowledging Roman's vulnerable moment and using that to light a fire under him
I don't know whether it's appropriate or not, but I've seen and been to many funerals where there was clapping. The congregation clapped during Princess Diana's funeral when her brother spoke, including William and Harry
Missed you guys so happy you finally got to it, can’t wait fr you the watch the finale……..also I hope you to watch another great show THE BEAR . IT incredible another masterful show you’ll love it for the craft and the emotion it will give you
Ewan's speech is so fascinating because it tells you exactly why Logan was the way he was and we feel bad for him, but we still don't absolve him of his abuse and cruelty to those around him. It's such a fine line and the show does it beautifully
To me, the election episode showed that while we don't have monarchs anymore these monarchs were replaced with people like the Roys who are kings and kingmakers except in name. Even outside this news angle, if these rich folk don't want someone to be elected they'll just not give their donations and that's what happens, those candidates that aren't favoured by them have to drop out, which gives them power to elect who they want
I noticed the camera too, but it’s cause they wanted it to really feel like a funeral on set so it was all cameras following people, and they let the actors improvise so the cameras allow for that
537 Votes is a documentary by Billy Corben that adds to the role Florida had in the 2000 election, the background, fallout. Every doc is selective in what is included and not, but hard to deny it was sketchy Also love Matsson calling out the democracy thing. I point that out whenever there’s an opening
The election and funeral episodes were both incredibly dark. We know why Keiran got so many awards. BTW There are a lot of people who think that the 2000 election was stolen. Michael Moore may have a strong opinion and gloss over some things. But he doesn’t lie.
Destroyed ballots? Whoa, no chance it goes down as lightly as it did in the show. If ballots were destroyed, no chance there are not riots if it is not made clear immediately that a re-vote will take place. Depending on which party is impacted, the response could take shape differently
Art imitates life: GE CEO Jack Welch did make his way over to the NBC control room on election night to make his desire for the election outcome very clear. Lady Caroline's reaction to Kendall during the funeral was priceless.
Every time I watch this episode, I think why Shiv are you threatening Greg. Honey is the way, it is so obvious. Now Greg could still betray her, but lower the odds with bringing him into your bosom Also she could have at least tried to get Jimenez to consider blocking the deal. He is a politician after all, he knows deals happen
roman getting himself hurt is because he feels like he fucked up and nobody is there to punish him cause his dad is dead and kendall wont give him that
Man...I understand the need to edit things down for time, but the continuity of basically every line of dialogue is lost with this style of editing. (And I've seen it done much more coherently on other shows) Never understood this style of editing. Just feels like you're chopping up a scene for no reason at all.
35:54 lol what’s the point of wearing headphones and having a good audio system if you aren’t going to pay attention to what you’re watching and listening to? the show literally tells you what you want to know

Kieran's performance at the funeral is absolutely amazing. He really freaking earned his Emmy in this season.
Lol no ,he should not be getting Emmy over Jeremy strong

„This is America - we clap at things!“
And I say Amen to that. 👏
“America Decides” disturbed me so much the first time I watched it. 😳
As Kendall said Roman fucked up and Roman being so trauma bonded with his dad that he was looking for punishment but Logan is no longer there to give to him
That’s because Kendall literally stepped into Logan’s shoes at the funeral. It was awesome how this scene portrayed Kendall’s transformation.
“This is Murica we clap at things” is one of the funniest things I’ve ever heard 🤣🤣🤣
Ewans speech humanized Romans abuser in front of him, I think that’s definitely part of why he starts breaking down instead of being stoic during the speech

Self hatred is rage, just inwards directed
Its a certain type of range, its anger, its embarrassment; when he did wrong before or f'ed up Logan would kick him out right.... or hit him.
Absolute top-tier writing & performances in these two episodes!!!

Achara is always great but that this is America line was insanely funny 😂🤣😂🤣

Especially at the top end, president, congressional, gubernatorial, smaller, local it is possible to overcome lack of backing

Logan's ex shows kindness for once (towards Carrie) "What a bitch" LOL
I know right. She's actually genuinely being nice. You'd think Jaby would know when a British woman is being nice or not.
Maybe the poison drips through
Kendall's Speech was pure Gold❤
He rose to the occasion. And yet, his uncle still bested him imo
@@LaCheeserie yes that's true as well
Jaby laughs like an anime villain lol
“But that happens all the time” how awful is it that that’s considered the norm in America now.
I think Rome wanted to get beaten up, the way his dad would hit him whenever he messed up… at first I thought it was suicide by mob
finally succession reactions, can't wait for episode 10. please do it sooner now
