When my ex and I were together we were both young, childless, successful, sexually compatible, everything seemed near perfect. I was faithful to her during the six years we were together, never cheated despite the fact that women hit on me almost every day, even now. I gave her foot massages and back rubs regularly, stayed by her side and read books to her when she was in the hospital etc. I probably should've listened to my brother when he told me I was being too good to her. She broke up wit me in 2014. In February of this year (2023) she called me on the phone and told me she lives alone, still no children and she was thinking we could probably reconcile. The part that got me is when she admitted that moving on has been difficult for her because, "comparing other men to me was like comparing Nicki Minaj to Whitney Houston when Whitney was in her prime." Those were her exact words. I told her she needs to stop making that comparison and try to move on because there's no way I'm ever taking her back. She's at that age now where she's facing the wall and despite her being financially independent as a career woman, she told me she is not happy with the way things turned out for her. As for me, things are only getting better.

I’m a disabled retired Army desert storm combat vet………when I was married to my ex-wife the marriage became unstable, she became very mentally and verbally abusive on her part to me over the years and I never did or said anything to disrespect her and always put her first making sure she was always safe and she didnt have to want for nothing etc……I left the house we were living in and went back home and filed for divorce and of course she called on the phone and apologized for how she treated me over the years and wanted me to come back to her blah blah blah, I told her no thanks because I’m not going thru that again and who’s to say you won’t continue that mess again for whatever reason etc……a year after the divorce her daughter called me and told me she died and I didn’t ask how and didn’t go to the funeral, when the divorce was final that chapter of my life I left in the past and kept moving forward and never looked back. I’m a disabled retired Army desert storm combat vet………when I was married to my ex-wife the marriage became unstable, she became very mentally and verbally abusive on her part to me over the years and I never did or said anything to disrespect her and always put her first making sure she was always safe and she didnt have to want for nothing etc……I left the house we were living in and went back home and filed for divorce and of course she called on the phone and apologized for how she treated me over the years and wanted me to come back to her blah blah blah, I told her no thanks because I’m not going thru that again and who’s to say you won’t continue that mess again for whatever reason etc……a year after the divorce her daughter called me and told me she died and I didn’t ask how and didn’t go to the funeral, when the divorce was final that chapter of my life I left in the past and kept moving forward and never looked back.
I’ve always believed that things happen for a reason and when God closes one door he opens another one for you, two years after my divorce God blessed me with my current wife and we’re still going strong 15yrs later. 😎✌🏾💪🏿👊🏾❤️

I've been in a similar situation myself and filed divorce and took a couple years off to take care of my parents before they passed away a couple of years ago. Since then I've reflected as well, and I've healed and found my peace. I've decided to stay out of the dating pool and to focus on myself. There's too much chaos in dealing with women in relationships. It's not worth sacrificing my sanity and peace of mind.

My ex broke up with me in March (2023) we were together for 3 years. She had 3 kids and I had 6. During our relationship my oldest son passed away in 2021. Man it was hard on me. I caught Covid, then my two cousins and one of my aunts passed as well. This ex we were engaged. After she decided to leave me man I got back to work on myself, my kids and my future. I’ve wasted 3 years with her thinking she was the one but after we broke up she showed her true colors and who she truly was. It’s been 6 months I never felt so much peace. I lost 70 pounds, got in shape, making more money. With my music I landed a couple placements with majors artists. I still have some ways to go but I’m heading in the right direction. Her leaving did me a big favor in my life. We haven’t spoke since the break up and honestly it’s no need too. I’ve moved on and moved on with someone else as well.

She was 18 years old. I didn't want child support on my moving on. And I wanted her to know me for me. That I love her with all my heart. I know, stupid right. GUILTY AS CHARGED.
That's also the reason why they want to "be friends" after they leave, so they can try the reach back, that's why I make it clear to women from the beginning that I believe in a clean break and that I don't keep in touch with ex girlfriends under any circumstances, once its done, I'm gone, never to be seen or heard from again and if I do run into her, I keep the conversation short but respectful.

I was much younger and still in college. She put me down when we were sophomores. I took it hard and couldn't snap out of it.
I attended a school that was 15 to 1 ratio female to male. And someone had my share. In my junior year, I started seeing someone, and we spent the summer together at school. What I'm about to say I didn't find out in real time. The one that put me down came to my home, where we are from , wanting to get back. Thank God I was at school with my new friend because I would have fallen for it. I'm glad to say my wife and I are still together she's my best friend. 9/29/23

Toward the end of my relationship with my ex I started to get back into church & would play Christian music at night before going to bed. One night I woke up as the music was playing and my ex was literally growling at the music as she slept. What ever was inside of her didn't like it.. I left her shortly after that.
My ex cheated and left me after 16 yrs. I was husband #2 and now she's onto #3. They fight almost everyday according to my kids. They've only been married for 5 months. She's likely not happy. We hardly ever fought when married. I treated her and her family well. And it speaks volumes when they tell me that I'm still their favorite brother/son-in-law after being divorced for 5 years. The grass is not always greener.

Yeah it’s hard to get back into dating. Just bought my house, about to pay off my 2021 car, I have a decent job, paid off my student loans, no credit card debt, consistently saving for my savings and retirement. Why would I disrupt that peace by getting with someone who says they don’t need me.
