It's great to hear you say all this about the value of these figures from Stan Solo. I cringe every single time someone comes on the channel and "complains" to me about the cost of each figure. Read the room, folks. You pay for quality. And as you have stated, no one does it better than Stan Solo. Period. Kenner would be proud and Hasbro should take notes.
This Greedo figure is beautifully made from top to bottom.I love it! We also finally have a Greedo that holds his gun in the correct hand! Bravo Stan Solo👏
I like that the blaster is angled so you can pose him pointing it at Han on the down low, like in the movie. So clever and demonstrates how much thought went into it.
Well that's a nice update to a classic figure! I never thought twice about his green jumpsuit as a kid. While I don't collect vintage style star wars figures, I respect the fact that someone is making them for the audience that wants them. And doing amazing at it. And it's nice to see you excited about these figures too! As for the price tag, I think you explained it really well.
I hope fans go out and buy Stan Solos figures in their droves to support this company, he has announced he has had enough of making these figures and wants to spend time with his family which is only right. The new removable helmet Darth Vader he has on preorder is going to be epic.
I have seen no indication that Stan Solo is shuttering. You've left this comment on two videos already. Please don't spread this kind of information unless you have concrete proof. Otherwise, it's rumour mongering, and that isn't cool.
@@retroblasting it's not rumour mongering, it's something he posted on his Stan Solo creations Facebook page, he has put this up as he has a new droid up for pre sale and he has stated that it is not something he wants to do anymore, his fans are gutted but they all fully understand his reasons. I have put the comment up so fans looking to buy his figures should hurry up and do so before they all sell out. Couldn’t agree more, Michael! I just used your link to it on Etsy and made ANOTHER good decision and ordered a Stan Solo creation!! Unbelievable quality and BEAUTIFUL! - William
That Greedo is STUNNING!! I was so happy when mine arrived. Greedo was one of my absolute favorite figures when I was a kid but never even thought that there should be a resculpt. However, when Chris Smith announced it and showed the first concept mock-ups, I was blown away. I’m so thankful to you, Michael for making me aware of Stan Solo back when your Han Stormtrooper video came out. I’ve been grabbing almost everything he’s produced since then and am kicking myself for passing on the few that I did. Stan Solo is literally the second coming of Kenner and we are beyond fortunate to have his contributions to the community. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again; VIVA STAN SOLO!!!
The fans are doing the best work!! I want a t-shirt with that in the Retroblasting font because it is awesome! Honestly I think it was the kick towards my dream of making toys. I can't understand the subconscious mind, but if I think I have to tip my hat to you and Melinda (forgive me if I spelled her name wrong.) Thank you and Tony for pointing me towards the channel.
This Greedo figure looks amazing! I won't replace my original KENNER Greedo, but I can appreciate beauty when I see it. As for Mon Mothma, Disney canceled my preorder for no reason, so I found her on eBay for $25. She's a great figure. I paid more than she would have been if she had been sold separately, but like you, I didn't need the other 5 figures, so I was happy for $25. The deals are out there, just have to look :)
As a left handed person, I always noticed that the Greedo figure was left handed, or at least held his gun in his left hand. UNLIKE THE MOVIE! Great video review of a great figure.
It's absolutely amazing! As usual, Stan solo does it again with a updated, upgraded, but accurate to the original I.P. as well as to the well-known Kenner style figure design. Thanks for this review and again explaining why smaller run production of anything is going to cost more. Great review!
The “Burger King kids meal toy” look many of the Kenner cantina aliens have is pretty funny. Good on our man Chris to right this wrong! Great breakdown as always my friend.
It’s unfortunate you have to even bother explaining to some people the economics of scale, but I appreciate you taking the time to do it. I see the value and feel Stan Solo is WELL WORTH the price. What, you think you can find these anywhere? Like Wal-Mart? Come on guys. I have a buddy who thinks anything over $10 is a “rip-off” and doesn’t understand the value of a dollar today, compared with the ‘80s, let alone the difference between mass-produced corporate schlock versus small batch, handcrafted artisan wares. I’m so glad we as toy collectors live in a time where companies like Stan Solo can give us what we really want.
Discovered Stan solo just over a year ago and have bought everything he has made since then and have all the pre orders made, and I can’t recommend these toys enough. They are simply amazing.
I recently picked up a carded Mon Mothma on eBay for $43 on its own. Pricey, yes, but better than $90+ for second-class copies of figures I already have. The SS Geeedo is beautiful and even better in person. Thank you for these reviews of Stan Solo figures... they are a dream come true.
I absolutely love what Stan Solo is doing, Chris loves the Kenner line and it shows with every new introduction , and even though I am on a budget , I will never fault him for his prices, and will get them when I get the small chances to, but I have to say that every time I see new offerings on his site's, I feel like a kid in the late 70's seeing new figures being offered in the catalogues and on card backs. the people that love what they do and their craft as well as what they are creating are the ones that through hard work put out the best quality.
This figure is immaculate as are all Stan Solo figures of which I have many now, you are spot on Micheal, you get what you pay for and this quality is beyond anything else, worth every cent :) great review sir.🙏
It's funny how many of us as kids didn't think twice about how out of place the cantina aliens looked compared to the rest of the figures. And just compare the original Greedo with any figure released under the ESB, ROTJ or POTF logo, if a complete stranger to Star Wars got hold of him, my bet is that he would say that Greedo is probably not part of the Kenner Star Wars toy line at all. Great vid, as always!
Bought this as soon as I saw GQ Jedi review it! Stan Solo hit it out of the park w/this Greedo. Here's hoping he produces more of the Mos Eisley cantina patrons w/this same level of detail - or better!
For years, I had the classic Kenner Greedo in an orange vinyl vest I made for him aiming at Han in the Cantina. I was happy to replace him with this Stan Solo version. Beautifully executed and love the bespoke blaster.
lol love my Three figures from Stan Solo! Looks great for my Jabba play set! Got Baba, Gweedo, and Jabba girl dancer! Do wish for the dog like creature for Jabba lol! Looking forward to other future releases
Sir, I also found that in relation to what you said regarding Greedos jacket sharing design similarities with the Bespin Han Jacket also ties to how the Rebel Troopers jacket shares many designs similarities with the original Han Solo. Just shows how Stan Solo has been able to make figures so great
That is one fine looking figure! Those are important points about the value of the figure. If people want a factory produced, vintage style movie-accurate Greedo, Stan Solo is the only game in town, there are no alternatives. If you like it, buy it, if you think a cheaper version will come along, then sit tight. You may be waiting a long time...
The Mon Mothma is pretty nice. I repainted the Admiral Ackbar and Wicket into a Mon Cal Officer and added a headset and Princess Kneesaa with modded hood. The Gamorean Guard's eyes are hilariously in a state of shock so I don't mind adding him to Jabba's shelf. The Royal Guard was my third, so he can be the Imp Dignitary's personal guard. Yak Face is my first and it made the pack worth it.
If I was into collecting Star Wars figures, I definitely would buy these figures. My concern is Big Brother Disney going after Stan Solo making unauthorized Star Wars merchandise.
I believe I’ve said it previously, but I’m a huge admirer of Stan solos work. I love how his figures look like Kenner. But also I have zero desire to collect that style. It’s similar with black series (although I got the main characters from the OT in that scale, I did not otherwise). And since you mentioned Ollie’s I admit I was tempted to get Obi wan and mando in retro then realized I only wanted to because they were cheap and put them back. I feel similar to O-ring joes (Although recall interests me because so many original creators came back). Sorry I am rambling. Point is I love my childhood Star Wars vintage and will never part with them. I love seeing artisans work and talking about what a great job they did. I’ve never bought one but have been tempted. The droids Stan did were a huge temptation. But thank you for shining a light on these. I love seeing them
