    Owned that geat pistol for few years, tested many diferent pellets.. for best accuuracy i can highly recommend JSB EXACT 8.4gr - at 25 yards I could easly do grouping under 2 inch square (with hands rested on a table:) also tested them on Chrony F1 they gave most consistent readings of 382-383 FPS - Top quality pellets

    Great review. My old HW77 is self isolating in the crog loft, and your vid has helped me to take the plunge and buy a 40. Diolch yn Fawr Iawn.

    Hi I've been looking at getting a HW40 or a HW45, I have a tremor in both hands which makes shooting pistols quite difficult at times so i need a lighter pistol, this video has helped be decide that the HW40 Is the best one for me, thankyou you have been very helpful!

      Jack Farnworth I have the same issue at times when I get low blood sugar I think, the lighter pistols suit me better, the HW40 is very good gun for the money aswell

    A good honest video, these HW 40's are good pistols for the price.... Check out the flagship pneumatic HW75's....all Hw's are class though.... Best wishes from Swansea!!

    Great review my friend. Nice pistol. Am thinking of getting one. How does it fair power wise compared to other pneumatics though? Also would you recommend the .22 or .177? Thanks. 👍🙂

      Daniel James - I've fired more than 10 000 pelets thru this gun
      Very good build quality
      Amazing very soft triger mechanism
      No recoil when firing
      Accurracy - was able to do 10 shoots with less than 1.5 inch grouping at 25 yards - shooting with both hands rested on a table :)
      Power - around 3.7 J is enough to penetrate one side of a soup can or smash a beer botle at 15 yards - only with Crosman premier pointed 7.9g - other pellets where too soft for this job
      there is a very good review of this pistol .177 & .22 cal made by Todd Cooper -

    Hello from Spain,
    Nice review and interesting video!
    I would like to ask you a pair of questions:
    1) Is it difficult or hard to put the lead pellet in this air pistol?
    2) What are the best lead pellets for paper target shooting in this airgun?
    Thank you very much

    • @ytucharliesierra
      @ytucharliesierra 3 года назад +1

      HW40 owner:
      1) No it is not difficult to seat the pellet. It is a little fidgety at times, but it's not a problem and you get used to it very quickly. Some people shoot pointed tip pellet with it for convenience, but I don't think it makes sense because they are quite expensive and they are actually for vermin control, not paper target shooting. They also make fuzzy holes in paper.
      2) I have a maximum indoor range of 15 meters at home. I surprisingly found that the cheapest pellets deliver excellent results. At 15 meters, with a cheap old 4x15 riflescope, rested, I can shoot groups of three on a dime. The pellets are H&N Excite Econ II. Ever since I recently discovered them I buy them in bulk.
      For paper target shooting I would recommend these pellets and flatheads in general, because they punch clear holes and if you plink, they deliver the kinetic energy better.
      Of course, if you want to go beyond 10 or 15 meters, like Rural Stuff says, you might want to consider heavier pellets, like the domeheads.

    At the 9:32 mark, you claim it's a Pre Charged Pneumatic............It's not a PCP my friend, it's a Single Stroke spring Pneumatic.......Thanks for recognizing your error.......good review

    • @RuralStuff
      @RuralStuff  3 года назад +1

      Yes I should have said Single stroke pneumatic totally recoilless instead of pcp. Well spotted on the error my hero!

      @@RuralStuff As a post script, I've viewed other videos of this pistol that refer it as a PCP also...........don't know what's up with that. Maybe it's just a matter of translation between us in the US and you folks in the UK......

    I like you to set up your position target tests to be very stable so we can see how accurate it is by setting it on stand or table.

    Nice review. Was thinking about really treating myself and getting an HW75, but not so sure now I've seen this. Have you ever tried one?

    • @RuralStuff
      @RuralStuff  4 года назад +2

      Thanks. I haven’t tried a HW75, from the reviews I’ve watched it looks very good, quite a bit heavier than my HW40

    • @bravestarr8857
      @bravestarr8857 4 года назад +1

      @@RuralStuff No worries, thanks for the info. Was surprised how accurate you could be with the HW40 as it's such a reasonable price. My hands are on the largish side though and as you said, the reviews look good. Think I may end up going for a HW75 at some point. Many thanks for replying and all the best.

    you may want tontry out a Webley/Zoracki Alecto/HP01 same pca pist but 1/2/3 pumps low power 1 pump, med power 2 ,higher power 3 . JSB 8.4grain 0,177 pellets work nice big Air Pistol roughly a Desert Eagle style

    I hate that automatic safety. I like that it has a safety, it's a pcp, you can charge it, leave it charged without any danger, that's great. But i'd rather have it the other way around, instead of having it forced on me, i'd prefer to have the option to put it on safe, because most of the time, it will be used for target shooting and then it is just annoying to change grip, because i forgot to put it on fire.

    • @RuralStuff
      @RuralStuff  2 года назад +1

      I prefer a manual safety as well, can be annoying when you forget it’s on.

    Good gun, but Weihrauch's biggest failure in my opinion. If they had put serious sights on it and a grip that could've been carved by the user. It would've been a great gun.
