I love that during the event they fully identify just how strong they are. Like these guys are champion level, but they just want to run the subway and have fun battling strong trainers and I can respect the hell out of that.
This reminds me of my personal headcanon about them being at minimum at the level of Elite Four members, if not Champion level outright. Both may have been approached about one of them becoming the new Champion at one point (probably between the originals and the sequels) because they're some of the strongest trainers in Unova, but they refused because being Champion didn't match what they wanted, like you said. I think it's really interesting!
@@dreamnants We must remember that Teselia's Subway is the equivalent of Battle Tower level. (In BW, in BW2 you have the black city / White forest too) Which are all Elite four / Champion level trainer those who are on top of it. So the fact that this two dudes are strong af should be no surprise

Aren't battle facility heads technically more capable than champions? After all, at their best, they can pull out much more complex teams and strategies than an ordinary champion ever could. The only canonical exceptions are Cynthia in BDSP and Leon (since he becomes the Galar Battle Tower leader after losing his title). There technically is the Pokemon World Tournament in B2W2, but it's debatable how much of it is actually canon and what is filler for the content. Only Cynthia is 100% in Unova at the time. Then there are people like Giovanni there, which raises many questions. Then we have Wallace and Steven both being treated as champions despite Wallace being one in only the Emerald timeline, with Steven being champion in every Hoenn timeline. It's messy as hell. Either way, PWT should be taken with a grain of salt here.

Also regardless if you didnt care about him or his brother in the past, you WILL care for them now." and now suddenly they are major fan favourites internationally
literally me, tho i never got to really meet them because i was always afraid to fight them on the subways i was really weak and still weak im still afraid to fight them
I enjoyed the battle subway and the sub bros but I will admit until legends Arceus they were just 2 strong trainers to me but now I love them because of ingos inclusion in the story

Gotta say, when I first found this, I was a little indifferent to it, but DAMN has this absolute banger of a theme grown on me!
