- In this video we show you how we quickly catch our lobster limit while diving at night! Bully netting is a very popular strategy for catching lobster at night, but we prefer to get in and catch them with our hands! We also think they are too scared to get in!
Its a little scary at first, but its super fun. We have been diving at night for lobster for years and its one of our favorite ways to catch them! Over all the years of doing this, we only know of one other family that dives at night where we do.

Awesome - totally down with that method of catching em. One big down side to bully netting is surface wind and wave action makes it hard to see them at times. Your night snorkeling method eliminates that issue. Great video!

Down here it’s illegal during mini season, but it’s perfectly legal during regular season! just remember to fly a dive flag and keep it lighted for other boaters to see. Of course, always check your local rules and regulations.

Can you provide the brand/model of dive light you are using? Great video!!!
We use Princeton Tec sector 5 and sector 7 for night diving, and their torrent LED for spearfishing in caves. Any light will work though, the brighter the better!
I haven’t seen lobster walking across grass like that before 😳 but I haven’t gone out at night either

I thought u can't night dive for lobster in Monroe county?
Night diving in Monroe is only illegal during mini season. It’s perfectly legal during regular season. It’s also legal to night dive during mini season in biscayne bay national park, north of Monroe county.

Whats the name of that light you guys use
We use a bunch of different ones but the lights in this video are Princeton Tec Sector 7 Dive Light - 1600 Lumens. Any bright underwater light with a good battery life will work though!
does it have to b amongst seagrass not reef?
You can night dive on the reef, but we always do pretty good on the grass flats

If you read the regulations, it’s only illegal in Monroe during Mini Season.
It is illegal to dive at night for lobsters in the keys and surrounding federal waters.
Only during mini season, only in Monroe county. Look it up!

only during mini season! This is straight from the FWC website : “Night Diving: Prohibited in Monroe County (ONLY during sport season) Diving is defined as swimming at or below the surface of the water.”
You can’t dive at night during mini season. The regular season it’s completely legal.
You can’t dive at night during mini season IN MONROE COUNTY, biscayne national park is also completely legal. Monroe county during regular season is also legal.

Ya and this is totally not legal to do you can not drive at night because other boaters can not see you in the water so if they hit you it is your fault not there's
Please feel free to read up on the Florida night diving laws. We use a dive flag that is lit at all times. Other boaters should be well aware that we are diving due to the lighted dive flag and lights in the water.
