I remember "We Are The MC's and On The Radio" as young teen. These 2 songs are the joints that introduced me to the Crash Crew.
The Crash Crew definitely don't get the credit that they really deserve thanks Jayquan for another great lesson
This was my group!!
Another dope episode! I'm going back and watching all of these Foundation episodes in the proper order now and the depth and attention to detail is unmatched.
JamBurgler thanks for looking! Peace & Respect
For the record, the PAL (Police Athletic League) was not a club, but a community based center, like the YMCA, Boys & Girls Club, etc. These places were common place, for kids to go enjoy Hip-Hop, in a safe(r) environment. They catered to kids, and teens. I went to these parties, and would partake in the break dance competitions, and I remember getting fresh, on Easter and posting up, checking out the fly girls, in the place. My youth, in The Bronx was dope!
Ran Dee You in jail?
The Foundation Yea, man. 😡
Wow....you ain't missing anything. Yeah, I knew that the PAl was like a Boys & Girls Club type community spot. Didnt know I called it a club here.....his much longer you got in the joint?
The Foundation 15 more days. I got a lot of trolling to catch up to. I'll be back soon. Keep up the good work. Just catching this piece. Dope.
The Crash Crew were definitely onto Something. You can hear that They were searching to create particular Building Blocks of Sounds. That would eventually outlive Them.To go on to born conceptual wise.Through other Hip-Hop Artists.Later down the line into the Future.Peace 2 The One and only "Crash Crew" Thank You for Your Musical contributions.✊🏾😎
I love all of your videos very informative.
Thank you for watching. Respect!!
NUFF RESPECT FOR THIS SERIES!!🙌🙌💣💣💥💥
Their first single should've secured them a major label contract alone...that record was so powerful....too bad one of those A&R's never came into the streets and saw the impact that joint had on the inner-city youths...if you couldn't recite all the rhymes (which many of us could) you definitely would recite the singing part straight though to "Debbie deb rock the house"💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
Love this Brothers Webinar keep doing what your doing Sir still waiting on Poor Righteous Teachers and X-Clan
Thanks for looking bro. All coming soon!
another great story
FINALLY!! Someone giving the Crash Crew their flowers!! I always thought of them as THE unsung ole school rap crew...Hi Power Rap was a BANGER!!! "When you walkin down the street with your box in your hand..." That long verse in Hi Power Rap has to be one of the BEST verses EVER! Definitely better than Flash and the F5's studio band version in my opinion...using the original beat made it more hood, more street...as a young dj I couldn't stand Freedom although it definitely got bodies on the floor. Thanks for recognizing the Crash Crew...they will always be one of my favorites and wish they got more props. PEACE - PookSki - #SOUNDVIEW #WATSONAVE
You the BEST for this! You're appreciated brother!
Respect. Thanks bro
Peace! Thanks for the history lesson 🫡
This is my favorite track by them, a masterpiece!
i learned alot watching this on the behind-the-scenes shit. the crash crew was hot.
that black and white picture with the bikes is dope!
wow man I did not no they was on another Label before sugarhill. Thanks for the info.
Salute my Brother I appreciate you
One of my favorite groups
I always wondered how High Power Rap was produced. I used to think it was a DJ cutting the record back and forth. Thanks for the info Jayquan.
Lol...I thought so too....the 3 best get up and dance joints were (in my opinion) high power rap, freedom & Dr. Rock & the force MC's feat. See divine....and the last one wasn't even a record but dope... especially doc"s scratching💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
You da bomb jay
on the radio was hot in I still play it
"The drum pattern was hot, the keyboards were hot...but one problem.... the Fantasy 3"
🔥🔥🔥 Narration!!
Awesome!
Peace to the True School
Another great video my bro!
These are my NYC peeps
I was listening to High Powered Rapp by Crash Crew on my way home from the gym this morning and realized that they were actually rapping over the original recording of Freedom.... Then I thought to myself...wouldn't High Powered Rapp (1980) trump Grandmaster Flash Adventures on the Wheels of Steel (1981) as being the first recording of an actual record on a record? but wasn't sure of the actual release dates..So i came here to get the scoop. Even though they spliced it with tape and it was not done with two turntables..Shouldn't they form a technical aspect at least get credit??? Just sayin...
Yes, they beat Flash to the punch by a year or so, actually having a record on a record...
Look at u Bro Kevin, doing ur due diligence like the brother Jayquan👍. Good info bruh.
I'm the mellow gee man rapper #5 and in any battle I will survive.
we want to Rock is my favorite in on the radio
I fuck with the Crash Crew Hard!
Do the force Mc's let's hear about them before they turned to the force md's
Yes the force Mc,s Dj Doctor rock they were official
kimasilv ,oh yeah,I feel you.
They were actually called the lundy's before the force mc's..
Ahhhhhh yes. Very few people know this about the Force MD's history(name change). Did u ever hear their battle tapes back in the days? I only heard one in '85.
COOL G RAPP lesson, it's your rock your rock your rock
Scratching was the name of the original track that used for Scratching without actual dj scratches on rhe record
Anybody know what's up with the Bay City label for the "On the Radio" 12"? That always confused me. I think I may even have a sealed copy and it has a Sugar Hill sleeve but a Bay City label.
JamBurgler Bay City was a subsidiary. Likely some kind of tax write off. Sylvia had at least 10 label names that she used
I SEEN THIS ALREADY LOL ....D.O.P.E
JAYQUAN YOU KNOW YOUR SHIT! Charles Carroll, The Hip Hop Hit List! Magazine -

Got High power rap, thanks to the ego trip list.
How many of you'll have this on vinyl? I do
Wow I got a collection but I don't have any Crash Crew as good as their music was
2-4-6-8 Jackson 5 joint
Hi again Jayquan! I bought "High powered rap" dl a list: rap hits year by year 1979-88 compiled by Ego Trip magazine, thanks for educating me. any comments of the Ego trp list, do you agree with it????
I have book with all of those lists. Many of them were very good. I need to revisit it!!
The original 12" of Breaking Bells is superior. I wonder why they never released it on the Crash Crew album
wish I sill had my copy of "High Power Rap"
Yeah, the Crash were dope, really under-rated and unsung. One of my favorite groups. I would love to get that sugar hill album and maybe any other compilations they might have. Would you know any? Also like and subscribe to my youtube an soundcloud music pages. My production is uncompromised, meaning it's that real Hip Hop. Rusty Hornz.
There is a compilation on Tuff City Records. You should be able to find it on Ebay......
I usually fuk with amazon, but I'll look. Thanx.
O. And those brothers are from around my way in Harlem. Lincoln is like 4 avenues down from where I'm at.
jayquaun about a story on that stuff I love so much called electro funk
crash crew's record was better in my opinion
Jesus Serrano,I agree.
One of the crash look like eddie Murphy and dude in picture with hat look like jj from good times all four dudes are from NYC lol crash crew
T.LA ROCK PLEASE
🤘🤘🤘🤘
run DMC did breaking bells better to me
Expose how L.L.Cool J stole T la Rock's whole look and image!
The Six One Niner! ...that was standard B boy style and profile in those days. T la rock did not invent the look.
the EQUATION ......Thank you! the ignorant need to be taught and sat in class !
@@skyjuiceification So true. Thanks for clearing that up, before people start spreading lies.
