Víctor Agreed. I personally think after all these years they still sound really good. Everyone's comparing this to the 2008 performance, but that was nearly a decade ago by the time they did this show. Also, the mix/mastering here to me just feels a bit off like a lack of reverb or something.
Until they have video proof of them singing live on stage, then they have no merit to talk. I personally only recently came across this group, but can not get enough of them.
Considering Tobias is singing not only really fucking powerfully, he's also doing it in his second language, which is impressive in it's own right. I think his voice is spot on here.
@@incubusprime2578 Not to mention, unlike a number of artists, Tobias does not change the actual notes of his songs. They remain on the original tone.
@@Mikey-1990 It doesn't sound like any post processing effects from this recording. The one from 2008 captured it all. This is just a sterile recording.

Tobias is an incredible song writer and singer . It doesn't hurt that he has the greatest singer in the world Jorn Lande sharing this amazing song with him. This is my humble opinion .

Better quality "visually" but the Flying Opera live performance was and still is the best version in my opinion.Man,was that performance good that everytime I put it on,my neighbours know they are yet again about to experience the full blast of it!! \m/

o sascha eh leao de "pro shot". em shows normais (pelo menos nos que eu fui), se ele acertou esse riff 2 vezes foi muito, os solos entao so "improviso" rs. oliver hartmann muito mais consistente nos shows.
Jorn's so old, these kind of festival shows his great voice tho, great mixing on live performances. Unlike his performance of League of Legends concert night, Riot didn't know what to do with live band performances.

Compare the part at 8:38 in this performance to the same part in the Flying Opera Performance at Wacken 2008 and you have a perfect example of why you should not use a click track when you have musicians that can groove together. There is energy building up and they want to speed it up but they are held back by the metronome. Feels like someone is stepping on the breaks. I love Avantasia but they sound better when they're not playing on a click track. It's part of what makes 2008s performance of the same song _magical_ while this is just _good_

1) Band: They are real musicians. There is no backtracking and shit like that. They freestyle their solo parts, if it`s shorter it`s shorter, if it`s longer it`s longer, if it`s different it`s different.
There is nothing wrong with the solos and the band here.
2) Vocals: I think it`s common knowledge and fair to say that Tobias is decent, but he isnt (and never was) a top tier vocalist. Neither in early Edguy nor in Avantasia. Dont act like he is an old man, he is 42. Thats not the age when singer lose their voice.
But it`s not a problem. Most bands dont have a top tier vocalist.
He is an excellent composer and charismatic frontman, there is no need to talk bad about his vocals!

Big Avantasia fan but they just don't sound good here. Vocals seem roached and the music is off somewhat. Prior performances are superior, watch them instead.
I'm inclined to think it has to do with poor mix and mastering, there's literally no reverb on vocals and much of it is buried in the mix, wish they'd hire sound engineer from 2008. However Wacken 2011 performance sounded the worst of them all.
They had also done a full world tour by then, ending it off with aWacken Open Air Concert, so it's not that surprising that the vocals aren't at their best.
Good observation, in Flying Opera Tobias had a flu and his voice was not perfect, yet the band and Jørn performed flawlessly, here Tobias has good control, but the band seems not in sync.
Its a festival performance. Festivals are rarely the best performances
Dandy Candy 2007 was the best avantasia's wacken performance..

I thought this show might have been good so I stood and watched them for about half an hour. Very boring and no atmosphere in the audience. Not a festival band imo.
