    I believe this is one of the best, if not the best, and most important XJP speeches. Brings me back to his inauguration speech in 2012 when he was first appointed the President of PRC.

      I would've liked to hear him condemn Russia's invasion of Ukraine, or to acknowledge any of the misinformation or hacking efforts we're seeing come out of China without any kind of finger pointing. It's significant enough that common people, especially IT security people, have taken notice. It would go a long way in restoring some of the trust that has waned over the last decade.
      Otherwise, Americans and others are sympathetic to China's challenges and celebrate invitations for continued peace and development. We have much in common and many people in the US are sinophilic, even if they criticise your government and are concerned about Xi's consolidation of power. It would be fantastic if we could revitalize cultural exchange as something really feels like it has changed and is missing since the 90's/00's when it was so easy to make many Mandarin/Cantonese/other speaking friends. Ultimately, we must work together to survive and prosper.
      國破山河在,城春草木深。
      感時花濺淚,恨別鳥驚心。
      烽火連三月,家書抵萬金。
      白頭搔更短,渾欲不勝簪。

    I hope that US government also talks this way. All I hear from chinese officials are peace, collaboration, co-existence, and friendship between the two countries. But our government officials starting from Biden, is how China is the number one threat to US, in what way?

    He comes across as a very likeable communicator. I think stronger US-China relations would be of benefit to both countries and the world- not just to keep world peace but actively promote positive trade relations between these two great super powers. However to do this I feel, China needs to lessen its support for Russia- a move that would be welcomed by the US, Europe, Japan, UK and Australia and pave the way for better global trade relations with China. I think better Western relations are far more beneficial to China's future than aggression towards Taiwan or support for Russia, Xi knows this too.

    This speech summed up Xi’s ideology very well. 16:23 is something we heard from China’s foreign affairs countless times. Absolute poverty reduction is considered one of the significant achievements of China, but instead of bragging about it, I was especially touched when he mentioned that over 1800 CCP members lost their lives during the process at 26:36. It was also nice for him to mention his tie to San Francisco decades ago and the WWII history. However, I am not sure if the 250,000 civilians killed by the Japanese were due to the rescue of a US Lieutenant, is he referring to the Nanking Massacre? Anyway, I can confirm that the “Flying Tigers” is definitely an important part of modern Chinese history. Hopefully, more people will spend a moment to listen to this speech, whether they agree with his ideology or not.

      The casualties referred to here pertain to civilians who lost their lives or sufferred severely in Quzhou and the surrounding region in Zhejiang Province during the 1940s. Numerous civilians endured immense suffering due to the Japanese invading army's deployment of germ warfare, including anthrax and plague. The significance of mentioning this lies in the fact that Xi served as the top leader in Zhejiang Province for an extended period, likely making him well-acquainted with this historical tragedy and the associated museums in Quzhou City.

    • @user-ui3eu9xh5j
      @user-ui3eu9xh5j 5 месяцев назад +3

      Moreover, the Quzhou area holds additional historical importance to US-China relations and WII history, as it was where 50+ American airmen landed and were subsequently rescued with help from local civilians . The deliberate targeting of this region by the Japanese for germ warfare was no coincidence. It started in early 1940s before the "Doolittle Opeartion" but intensified significantly after it. While the Nanjing Massacre is widely known, this particular atrocity remains relatively unknown to the Americans and global public, even to Chinese people not closely connected to Quzhou or war history. As a native of Zhejiang, I first became aware of it in early 2000s through elderly relatives of a school classmate from the Quzhou region. Knowledge of the related museums, archives, and reports has only gained prominence in the past one or two decades, and still mainly in Zhejiang local media. The revelation that there were survivors carried wounds from anthrax infections that persisted without proper healing until the 2010s was particularly shocking to me.

    US and China have very different world views, rooted in there own civilizations and history. For China, It's belief in holism, balance (harmony) and dynamism from Daoism. For Americans, it's.belief in anti-dualism and activism. These believes shaped their actions and own history on the world stage, may cause frictions or conflicts, but also show the value and importance of learning from each other.

    American politicians have been practicing so called Monroe doctrine not just South America, but Europe vs Russian, and South Asia vs China -- all the way to China border, including Taiwan. Without abandoning and rethinking on such aggressive and assertive guidelines, US-Chna relations will be difficult.Although Monroe doctrine was established centuries ago,.it was hold in dear hearts by Anglo-Saxonism elites, and supported by average American by default, although they didn't realize such fact and not even mention such thing in their day to day lives.

      China will suffer greatly in a conflict and they want to avoid it. But I can say without a doubt that the US will suffer more as many sons of America will die in a foreign land in a fight that is not theirs. This is going to be heartbreaking.
