I was a few years past high school in Ontario, Canada, when The Hip really broke out around '89. This is still one of my favourite albums from '91. I love this song, but as far as slow songs go, "Fiddler's Green", from the same album, is also fantastic. If you haven't heard it, it's a must listen. So much emotion.

just to give some insight into one of the lyrics. when he says drop a caribou and tell on you. the caribou in on one side of our quarters. the queen is on the other. at the time this was written there werent cellphones. our payphones cost a quarter. you drop a quarter into a payphone. a quarter is 25 cents.
