- Donny Osmond and Michael Jackson come on stage with TV personalities Rodney Allen Rippy and Ricky Segall to present the American Music Award for the Favorite Pop Group. Rodney says he doesn't know who the nominees are, and upon opening the envelope finds himself not being able to read the name of the winner. He holds the card high into the air. Donny Osmond announces the Carpenters as the winner. One of the band members accepts the award with a brief thank you speech.

Yep
Deliziosi tutti... foreverMichael😍
He was on The Partridge Family also
OMG I WATCH THEIR REACTIONS AND IM A BIG MJ FAN THIS IS SO SURPRISING
I was dead when that young boy opened the envelope and shifted his eyes!
This was the most memorable event of the American Music Awards with Donny Osmond and Michael Jackson as co-host presenters with their mini me Ricky Segall and Rodney Allen Rippy.
Those kids were so darn cute lol
Search for the channel "Our stupid reations" The white tuxedo kid is Rick Segal.
That's Rick Segall!! 😁😀
Our Rick From OSR ,Wow
Drawdreaming he was also on the partridge family
He was so cute
Yes
Loved both those kids.
Rodney Allen Rippy is so adorable. That face he made when he looked at the card to see who the winner was was priceless. LOL!!!! "Do you know what this saaays?? Me neither!!" LOL!!! Too cute. He can charm the pants off an audience. What a character. (giggle!!)
Lyndell Jones who was/is he?
@@Lori_L he is the first African-American to go on National Tv commercials He was the kid of Jack in the Box commercials in the 70s back then commercials were a big thing Because the Internet did not exist back then he also starred in a few movies as well I actually met him at a Halloween party at a wine restaurant in Rancho Cucamonga he's a good dude very humble
@@pirruripirruri4731 - great memories. I'm from the east coast and we didn't have Jack in the Box so that's probably why I wasn't familiar with him
@@Lori_L He was also a child actor. He appeared in Blazing Saddles, Police Story, Marcus Welby M.D., The Six Million Dollar Man, The Odd Couple, and appeared on Merv Griffin, Mac Davis, Dinah Shore, Johnny Carson, The Carpenters, and was a regular on The Harlem Globetrotters Popcorn Machine.
@@Lori_L : There was a JACK IN THE B⭕️X in THE BR🌍NX N.Y.C. 🤔
Donny Osmond was a very confident young man
I remember watching this at 11yrs old. What awesome times. ...times have really changed.😞
This was when the AMA's were so fun to watch, and I knew all the artists,,,, good days,
Hilarious, bittersweet to see rivals-but-friends Michael and Donny together, and Paul turning up to accept the award (with melba-toast wit on full display) is a neat touch...
Rodney's face at 1:05 is so cute and hilarious. This is a classic AMA moment for sure.
It sure is caitlinjane92. Rodney had the audience in stitches!! He's so charming and adorable.
I vividly remember this!! Oh my gosh, Donny looks good still & young Michael Jackson🥺.Paul Williams has a really good sense of humor! Nice memories!😄
He is from "Our Stupid Reaction"love from Nepal 🇳🇵 😉 🙏
Donnie was so great even at a young age.
The man with long blond hair is Paul Williams, a well-known singer, songwriter, and actor, famous for writing numerous hit songs in the 1970s, including songs performed by The Carpenters like "We've Only Just Begun" and "Rainy Days and Mondays." He accepted the American Music Award on behalf of The Carpenters in 1974.
he wrote and produced some of their work I believe, Paul wrote some of the biggest hits of the 70s
The audience is having so much fun😃 now it’s pure trash!
I agree
Agree - I haven't watched an award show (Oscar, Grammy, AMA) in years. It used to be elegant and exciting. Now it's nothing more than a political platform.
The world will never be like this again.
@@m.e.d.7997 You are correct. It is only going to get worse as our rulers rfid every single one of us like cattle. No privacy. Welcome to George Orwell's 1984.
To Tell The Truth probably touring Japan or Europe.
Is that rick...? Holy shit... But he is very childish right now than past....😂 Man something is wrong with this guy.... He was calm that time and now he didn't even pay attention to camera... But his energy is TREMENDOUS. 😍
What's wrong with childish how is that guy weird lol
He's old now. Losing his attention span.
Who is Rick?
Donny is just a natural in the spot light
OMG, Donnie and Michael. They were very popular at the same time as well. Crazy seeing them do young
What a great sense of humor Paul Williams has! 1974 was about the year that he appeared as himself in an episode of "The Odd Couple" TV series. In that episode, Felix Unger's daughter Edna was so overwhelmed in meeting Paul Williams at Felix and Oscar's apartment that she just stood there and couldn't say anything and Williams said "Nice talking to you Edna" LOL! And of course, Williams was hysterically funny as "Little Enos" Burdette in "Smokey and the Bandit" (1977).
It's great to know that Mr. Rippy is doing great, and that he avoided the pitfalls that befell many child stars. This clip, no doubt, is a classic.
Damnit, I was 14 in 1974.Donny Osmond has aged far better than I, and he still has his own hair. I have no clue about the two kids but they were hilarious.
The kid in white is a RUclipsr. Rick Segall
Michael Jackson looks always the same age. He looks exactly like in 1980, 1982, etc
are you BLIND?
That isn't Michael Jackson.
Porfle Popnecker ur dumb
@@porflepopnecker4376 Who is it then?
@@teeth6556 That's the kid from the Jackson 5 moron
I was just reading where they first offered the song "Ben" to Donny but he couldn't do it due to being on tour so that's where Michael stepped in...I'm glad Michael sang it....out of all the Jackson's, he had all the talent. Both him and Donny got together and and were laughing about Donny having a song about a puppy and Michael was singing about a rat....sounded like they were good friends.
I love that the one band Rodney knew was Gladys and the Pips that is so funny LOL ... Too cute. I read in jet that he studied marketing in college and is doing OK as an adult. I was happy to hear that.
He's doing more than O.K. He's a marketing executive, producer, actor, singer, director, writer, freelance cameraman, motivational speaker, advocate for health and needy causes, celebrity spokesperson, radio show host, teen mentor, philanthropist and humanitarian. He's a good friend of mine and a wonderful and very serving human being. He's also working on his autobiography that will hopefully be released this Summer.
Rodney's a great guy. I just saw him on Sunday (at Church) and we just texted back and forth yesterday. He's doing great. Amen ;)
You can catch Rodney Allen Rippy interview on the "Flavor Flav show"#26 on RUclips. That's how I ended up here because he mentioned this video his interview.
Donny is class here
Michael is so young😊
Who knew this little guy in white suit will be the most beloved RUclipsr in India. #OSR
he is?
Yes he is.

So cute Donny!
+Jst Carmn I was about to say the same thing
that was a classic bit in musical history-and what a beautiful, melodic voice she had...
Hahahaha THEY'RE THE CUTEST PRESENTERS EVER!!!! 😂😂
Love my Michael but i have to give it to those 2 little boys this time!
He not yo Michael he is a Jackson he don't want you lol
This brought tears to my eyes. Compare this to an AMA presentation in 2022. You will bein tears, too. Such class, composure, and attire. WTH has happened to the USA?
Wow I remember seeing this at 5 years old in 1974 we were living in Long Beach then off of orange and signal Hill damn this brings back memories....
I wonder why Michael didn't interact more during this segment. Donny pretty much took it over.
His name is Michael, he was smart and generous with his time and money.
MJ was the shyest guy in the world, he was more of an observer than a talker...but on a concert stage....WHOA!!!!
I was 12 when I had a brush with the entire Jackson siblings at the SF International Airport (1974) ...we were all sitting at the terminal gate and Mr. MJ made a funny face at me because I was awestruck and looking at the whole fam. I approached and asked for autographs and they were very very gracious and obliged. I will never forget it. ...but Mr. MJ was more shy than I was.
Donny was great with them!
Joseph Preston his name is Michael Jackson, not jacko ,go to school, and learn about show respect toward the people, every one knows that his name is Michael Jackson, show some respect for Michael,he was the human being. You are an animal who doesn't know anything
Omg Rick he is damn cute 😍💞 and i feel sad cause of M.J. the legend no more with us (((
The remark at the end was priceless! :D
they are so handsome.
OMG......this is absolutely adorable!😂❤
Awwww Rick from OSR was so adorable 😚
At 2:01 Mike fixes Ricky's bowtie😮 MJ truly was a perfectionist, It's hard living in the world without him 😢
Please bring back those fun, non judgemental days
I remember that like it was yesterday. The Awards shows were so much better back then as was the music.
Awwww 😀 he held the card up because he didn't know what it said 🤗❤
" One of the band members accepts the award with a brief thank you speech." No sir that is not correct. That is the legendary singer songwriter Paul Williams!
OSR Army is here!!!
The cutest moment ever.
Wow.. that's a little Rick Segall😱...Awww... he is looking so cute in that white tuxedo..💙
Man was this a different time. The audience are authentic and actually having fun and letting loose. There is no political talk or #metoo or other type of movement being pushed upon the people. It's purely about the music and celebrating that. The awards these days are utter trash.
Truth INDEED
the good ole days where women could be sexually abused behind the scenes and had no voice or support to come forward?? ok
In earlier years events like this also experienced political opinion being raised.
@@cruelyouth1186 or when women weren't 200 pound single mothers with blue hair. Good times 😌

This Are One Of The Greatest Awards Shows - That Went Down.. In The History Of Film 📽️🎥 And Television 📺.. Michael Jackson , Donny Osmond,. And Rodney Allen Rippy, And The Other Kool Little Kid In The White Tuxedo With/ The Black Now Tie.
That wasn’t a band member who accepted the award, it was Paul Williams, songwriter of many great songs!
How many of you came just for rick segall
Donny is so lovely 😊💜
Beautiful ❤
Yup, that was Paul Williams accepting...NOT a member of the Carpenters.
Never - are u sure it wasn't karen? Thanks for being so informative.
,Yup, Nobody's Fool , that was Bettina McCraken that made that comment...NOT a member of the Carpenters. 🙃
Well he did write many of their hits, including "I won't last a day" and "We've only just begun", which was originally a song used in a wedding themed TV commercial for a bank.
He wrote a couple of their songs.
Paul Williams - Legend
Donny is so well adjusted. Michael may have had social anxiety. Actually he sees ok in the beginning...then steps aside, but when he appears he seems ok. Donny really is a natural in front of the camera though no doubt about it.
That isn't Michael Jackson, dammit.
@@porflepopnecker4376 Um yes it is Michael Jackson....
Look it up, that is Michael Jackson before his surgeries. Everyone knows this.

Back when it was a family show
He is not one of the band members, he is the great Paul Williams wrote we've only just begun ad rainy days and Mondays
Paul Williams co-wrote Rainy Days and Mondays for the Carpenters.
Finally the age old debate is definitively solved. Donny is better than Michael. (at reading corny scripts.) Donny is great here. Slick and polished, yet genuine, candid, and sincere, and also the signature Donny we know so well from later and he still behaves in these signature ways. He oozes personality. He also handles the surprises that a child throws at him just right. At first he corrects Rodney when he grabs the wrong card, but then later deftly changes tacts and allows Rodney to bumble to great audience delight, while at the same time gently guiding the moment and keeping things moving along, bringing it in right on time. The true pro we know. No one is better than what you see here by a teenage pro with 10 years tough experience already. Odd that Michael is so awkward here. He has many years even tougher experience behind him. He must be shy and that shows here. How odd for a guy of that talent to be unsure of himself.
Hold on I’m gonna stop you there and say this. As you know Michael Jackson is known to be shy and he probably didn’t want to do a lot of talking like donny. Just because Michael didn’t behave and act like Donny did doesn’t mean anything. Michael is shy! And again probably just wanted to get the award giving over with. And also him and Donny went off to get food after this event, so let’s talk about the good memory that they shared please. Cause I’m honestly getting tired of ppl saying that Donny was better than Michael and that Michael was better than Donny. They both are great entertainers and yes we know that no one can ever amount to what Michael Jackson left behind. But come on. Positivity please🙏🙏
One of the band members accepts the award??? You don't know that's Paul Williams???
One of the band members?? No, that's Paul Williams who accepted the award, a great songwriter whose "Rainy Days and Mondays" was one of the Carpenters biggest hits

why is Michael Jackson cut off on the right? I saw this clip before in 2009 and Michael Jackson was not cut off while the adorable little boys were talking on the table. Please upload the full clip AwardsShowNetwork.
That was not a band member!!! A very famous writer back in the day, Paul Williams. He wrote the bank commercial song that Richard heard on TV. Before the commercial was over Richard was on the phone finding out the details to make it a carpenter hit.
This is so funny, unscripted etc, thanks for sharing.
Hey Rick so cute 😍
Rick uncle is damn cute. I didn't recognize Michael Jackson at first.
