You should try using a hacksaw blade. It has serrations like a bread knife, but lots more of them. Cuts real smooth. Don't lift up the back of the blade, try and keep the blade as level as possible as you slide cut into the foam. The more you lift up on the back of the blade as you cut the harder it is to make it a straight line. That's my opinion.

@@CampingwithEmmy aww thanks! You should see 2/3 of a memory foam mattress now with even stitching the excess linen to size! The bed is too soft for my back and floor too hard haha so this is PERFECT bc it was meant to go on a bed but toooo soft. I even had the longer bladed knife and sawed, remembering to keep the blade as parallel with the foam as possible, and suddenly it was like butter!!! Hahaha thank you!!! Love Nimo
Thanks to you. I was able to cut my memory foam mattress very clean. I used a plain knife 🔪 so there were no small particles of foam all over the floor.. i got the courage to do it after seeing your video . ❤❤❤ Lots of love from India.
I tried with a straight knife first. That didn’t cut it so switched to bread knife. Definitely depends on foam but your advice is good to start with the less messy straight knife just to see if that will work.
Interesting... I have my grandparents antique twin beds. I'd like a firm foam mattress for them but it's expensive to buy a custom mattress. This video has encouraged me but can you suggest a brand ??
I would look on Amazon or Wayfair. They usually have a lot of reviews and they will also say in the description whether or not the mattresses have Fiberglass in them. Good luck! I hope you can find the right mattress for your antique twin beds 🙂
I don't have a camper yet but what is the standard size for these mattresses to fit usually because I have one that I was gonna cut down for camping until I needed it for a camper

It's not easy to do that, that's for sure. I cut a Cal King mattress topper in half lengthwise with a box cutter and saw. It took a while, caused a mess and both halves looked ugly. I wished I invested in an electric knife. I hope your attempt went better.

Thank you for this video. Just cut a twin mattress in half to make 2 Large Breed dog beds. Going to sew some removable covers it so I can wash them.

Camper mattresses are all different sizes! It depends on the camper!
