The correct way to cut Rinnai Ubbink concentric vent pipe

- This is the most important step in installing Ubbink concentric vent pipe.
If you don't cut the pipe where the inside is 1/2" longer then the outside you will be drawing in the CO2 back into the combustion chamber mixed with the air and will make the burner malfunction.
If you follow these steps you will have perfect connections between the pipe. This video is the same if you use the non condensing or the condensing venting.
Here are a list of the tools we use.
Some type of work surface (table)
Sawzall with fine blade ( hacksaw with fine blade will work good)
screwdriver
hammer some times.
Rotary tool with stone bits or file
knife
debarring tool
construction paper for wrap around
blue tape, marker, ruler
compressor with blow gun

Mike is absolutely an amazing person.. he called me back after I tracked him down by phone and left a message. I was in Texas and needed some questions answered on installing a Rinnai RL94, and he went above and beyond and even FaceTime’d us to make sure we did the start up correctly. His videos are detailed and was actually a deciding factor on doing a self install/replacement with a Rinnai unit. This guy mike really knows these systems like the back of his hand .I am getting a ru199in installation put in and have no clue if the installers will do the job right he walk me through my whole system over the phone and told me how to maintain my system after the install.This guy really knows the rennai tankless system thanks mike
I just found your channel. We had a Rinnai outside unit for years. Then 2.5 years ago water started pouring out. We called a plumber and had to buy a new Rinnai RL94. We just had a bad freeze in our area and the power went out for 13 hours. We could not get any water to come through the hot side of the faucets. When the power came back on it took a while but when it started running water poured out the body of the unit. So I shut off the cut off valve going in. I found your videos on how to flip that solenoid to keep water going through and the other videos about the drain kit.
I have not taken the cover off and I am sure it is out of warranty since it has been 2-1/2 years.
I guess I have to take off the cover and see what split open and try and find a Rinnai repair person.
An alternate method suggestion. First, make a shim board (cradle) to match the outer pipe offset thickness between the outer rim circumference and the circumference of the pipe.
Add a beveled piece on either side to hold the pipe from moving while cutting. (Similar to a V block.) use a band saw, table saw or hacksaw to cut BOTH the inner and outer pipes at the same time - measure the needed finished length PLUS a half-inch.
Dissemble the two pipes using the method demonstrated. Put the outer white pipe back in the cradle and cut a half-inch off the end.
Remove burrs and reassemble the two concentric pipes.

I use an adjustable carpenter's square for making pipe and cut a 2" hole in a piece of 1/2" plywood to mark my exhaust tube.
I've been playing around with different venting issues to solve a harmonic vibration being created by the burner assembly I think? Have you ran into this and can you see it being affected by different exhaust lengths?
Looks little complicated seems like the 2 separate vents is much better🤩😅

Mike, at times I'll have water dripping through my older V75iN. There's also water sitting on top, around the base of the Flue Assembly where it is screwed down to the cabinet. Do you think I just need to replace the o-ring, Rinnai part 108000018?
I watched your venting video. I am not a plumber but the homeowner. In adding an addition we had to re-vent our RL75iN vent to a vertical. The plumber is not a certified Rinnai but the contractor said I had to use their guy. They said he talked to a Rinnai person. I took photos of what was done and I wonder if he did it right. It does not seem like what you said because white pipe sticks up and there is no collar up under outside piece. How can I send you photos.for your thoughts. Installing V75IN system myself converting from a tank. I’m knowledgeable in extensive plumbing and electrical and am determined to do this job myself. Would love your guidance on a few things. Venting to be one. I’m a little confused on the venting supplies and determining what exactly I need. Also am wondering if the entire water line need to be 3/4” or could I just increase within a certain number of feet. What are your thoughts on a recirculating pump? Money saving or now? Trying to decide if the power needs to run pump is still less than the money saving from water.
