The Annual Baja Hiatus is OVER | MEXICO Van Overland

- We're back on a Baja beach! After a tedious month of van repairs and maintenance in Arizona, it's finally time to head to a beautiful warm sandy beach on Mexico's western peninsula. We've gathered a van clan of fellow nomads to make the Mexicali border crossing together then drive straight to a favorite beach south of San Felipe. Arriving at the Gulf of California waterfront is amazing!! We get to air down our tires, circle the "wagons", enjoy our first cervezas (cheers!), jump in the ocean, and do a little paddleboard fishing. Grilled bone fish anyone??
Food just keeps appearing (like hello, Meg's Machaca Breakfast Tacos!) and everything is going swimmingly until a quick, small repair turns into a big long wait. We're suddenly stranded again ... but hey, we're rather well practiced in "stranded". It's not long before the problem has been diagnosed, the quick-fix options discarded, and the proper part delivered. Alex performs his magic once more .. and hopefully for the last time for a loooong time now! All is well that ends well, and we're off to our next bit of Baja beauty.

Stranded and fresh fish tacosssss? Not bad. Glad Betty is back and moving!
Silver linings, gotta keep your eyes peeled for’em, they’re out there.😁
I loved that video. It has everything including a funny fish story. The drone shots of kids playing in the ocean were so beautiful. Love the food Megan. The Car parts and fixes were even good. And romance! You two are really good together.
Thanks mom. We’re both thrilled to be back here in Mexico. It’s really tickling the travel urges.
❤❤❤
Good thing Megan stuffed food in every corner of the van so you wouldn’t go hungry while waiting for parts. Have fun and watch out for stingrays. Those little buggers hurt.
Yeeeahhh, I know I know, I get persnickety about her stuffing our coffers, but I certainly benefit from it.
We’ll remember to do the water entry shuffle. 😁
Hahaha! Thank you for this comment 🙏
@@SlowRoamerMegyou’re my little squirrel.
If you get stuck in the sand put water in the hole with your tire and Beyond where you're going to drive out of water packs the sand down for traction stay safe have fun USMC for life
That’s a great tip! I’ve been planning to make a 2WD sand driving help video, I’ll add that to the list. Thanks!
Alright! There it is! Over 8K subs!
Another fun installment. Safe travels in Mexico you two.
Aiming for 9k!🤣 Thanks for watching!🙌🏻
Great video ! Those tacos looked amazing! Glad y’all got the van fixed!
Thank you! They were epic, a must when going through GN!
Your videos are a feast for the senses.
Yessss! Thats what I’m going for. Thanks for watching!🙌🏻
Especially the drone shots over the paddleboarders. Positively orgasmic water rippleage going on there.
You guys are so fun! Great rig. Not sure about van maintenance on a beach. Protect what you love. Save that for the pavement maybe. Happy travels!
Thank you! Honestly, I really did think it was going to be a straight forward and easy fix. I should have done it back on the airstrip, but I didn’t want to hold the group back another day. Lessons learned, that’s what I’m taking away. Thanks for watching!!🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Nice work in the rough!
Thanks! 🙌🏻 Was a good experience but could have done without all the sand.🤣
Killing it with the music btw
Thanks Homie.😊♥️
Yes, so true! We're lovin' it too, Luis.
Best Baja video ever! Can't wait to catch some fish that aren't full of bones!
Ooo, I believe this guy. He sounds like the authority on Baja videos. 😁😁😁 Always great having our favourite midwesterners along for the ride. Let’s do zero bones next time.
Oh man, I was out of town last weekend and missed this one. “Tough, memory making experiences,” are the reason I eventually sold my ‘91 West and got our 2020 Recon camper (6 hour delay to Yosemite once), but you guys are young and still full of beans and it looks like a nice beach! On to this week’s video.
Based on what I’ve heard, one 6hr delay in a Westy is getting off easy. I’d say we’re especially full of beans now that we’re in Mexico. 😁😁😁
I love how this video shows the essence of van life. We get to see a bit of everything with your van clan friends in the frame. Loved that you helped them navigate their first border crossing. Loved seeing you drive highways and beach tracks in convoy. Wanted to be there chillaxing over beers and a sunset, jumping into the ocean, wolfing down all that mouth-watering food right out of Meg's nomad kitchen. And hats off for the superb choice of music. Soooo, are the tech troubles over for a while? Good on you for pulling off that last fix in the sand. That's a serious vanlife skillset right there!
Alex is not allowed to take the van apart again for at least a month 🤪
Here's hoping there'll be no need! May Baja be all about slots, swimming, surfing and sunsets .. oh, and sourdough!!
Tech troubles seem to be over for the time being, but Baja is going to give Betty a beating. Y’know, you could fly down again and have a beer on the beach.
Does that come with panela de cabra??? 😋
If I was going to be stuck for a week someplace.. Baja would be my first choice.
I think I’m with you on that one!🙌🏻
That's my favorite northern Baja beach too. Thanks for not giving more info, it's weird how many people know about it now I think thanks to that one app.. I've been there more times than I can count, have even met the owners who hang out at the little shack to the South on holidays. I've never once seen a 2WD there. You have a lot of guts and a lot of skill!
It’s definitely a good spot. That was our second year there and it’s such a good spot to stop off at right after the border. When we go back to Baja (which won’t be for a long time due to our travels) we’ll likely stop off there again. Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed the video!🙌🏻😊
Great video! So thankful to be along on the journey. Can't wait to see more!
Great having you along! 😁😁
Great video y’all!
Thank youuuuu!😁🙌🏻🙌🏻
I hope to go to Baja someday soon!!! love the video Brah!!!
Good choice, thanks for watching!🙌🏻🙌🏻😁
Stumbled onto your IG and looked you up on RUclips, I couldn’t be happier ! I’m getting closer to retirement and Baja isn’t my first destination!
Glad you found us and decided to stay! If you haven’t already checked out Baja I’d suggest it, it’s a beautiful place. 😁
Love your series. Question: why did you not insulate the floor when you remodeled your van?
Thank you 👍
Thanks for watching! It’s funny, I just answered this question on another video. Maybe it didn’t post? Was that you that asked?
Where you guys disposed the oil when changed? drive with it till nearest mechanic?
Yep, drop it off at Autozone or nearest mechanic.
I liked the to much food scene
Thanks for watching, there’s plenty of food to come!🙌🏻
How's that possible? Too much food??? 😂
Hello, I have a question for you guys. have you had any problems with your hightop leaking?
Not as of yet, but our Hightop has a reverse flange style sealing surface. If you have a Ford van this won’t be the case. Talk to Micah & Lindsay at www.hightopvans.com, they can possibly give you some info.
Hey man .. are u getting better mileage with the new RE gearing?
Marginally…not noticeable
It's bonefish grill
What was the name of your first campside
Doesn’t really have one, it’s just a stretch of beach off the MEX5.
Meat fluff!
Beef Blanket
Why your girlfriend looks like from fast and furious?
Maybe she was in F&F….😳😳🤔
