Honestly, any steeper and I’m not sure the van would have done it. I know the 4L80 transmission are praised for their strength, but dang, I for sure the TC was gonna start slipping.
Love seeing what that van is capable of! I have gears and a trutrac on the way for my van and can't wait to put it to more use very soon. Your videos are giving me way more confidence to get out there a little further than one would normaly take a passenger van.
You can find bins of loose dog food in Mexican supermarkets at around 20 pesos the kilo. We buy and bag half a dozen to put in the back. When we see a street dog we have something more substantial for them than a smile before we drive on.
Great footage wow! We feel you on the layer of dust on the bed… haha old vehicles UNITE! seriously though, making us want to be in Baja right beside ya. B e a utiful!
Ya, time for another "stand-off" ... 2WD vs 4x4. Gotta be done sooner or later! 😳😳😡🥴 The question is, where are you all gonna meet up next year??? Inquiring minds want to know!
Our journeys are getting g longer and longer with me shooting and Meg petting animals. We’re gonna have to start scheduling more time for these routes.
Nice videos… enjoyable.. you asked what “we” like… the more dirt and “off-roading”… like to see the challenges… do you come across much off camber challenges? Great Stuff…
Thanks for watching! That seems to be the main reason for people watching, which is good to know. We don’t usually see much off-camber which I don’t mind since it’s like the one type of obstacle that could really get us in trouble.
Heck yeah my man! Thanks for watching. Did you notice the lyrics on the second drone sequence? Didn’t even plan it, but it was so good.😁 We’re loving the support. 🙌🏻🙌🏻
I noticed those lyrics, thought they were perfect. Also love the song near the end when you're driving the hairpin along the coast. Female voice. So good!!
Great video but I had to pause it and go in the other room when you went on your cursing tirade so my kids wouldn’t hear it 😂😂😂 That rear end bounce to get out of the sand was a nice move, I’ll have to remember that one. Looking forward to the next video 👍
Bahahaha, yeah my bad, y’know I just get carried away sometimes, can’t hold my tongue.🤣 The rear end bounce was not under my control, any vehicle will hop. It’s not particularly great for your vehicle. I’ll be posting a sand driving help vid soon that’ll talk about it more. Thanks for watching!
Thanks Harlan! We’d both love a puppy but unfortunately it adds a whole new level of complications to our plans for future. We’ll adopt a Baja dog when we settle down.😁
I’ve heard of that trick, but it works only as far as the sand is wet. If you’re out in the deep stuff then airing down is the best way to get all the way out.
Megan continues to impress! Mrs. Tiki Envy won’t even drive our van on the freeway. She didn’t seem to mind the 10% grade into Jackson Hole last summer though even though I was doing some American cursing. Betsy got a little saucy in this video “twerking” in the sand. I didn’t realize what a difference airing down just 5 psi can make. Sports bras for goats? Just an idea!
Yeah, she’s definitely a keeper! Meg does a lot of the more treacherous drives because I’m flying the drone. It’s not something that she’s asked for, but she’s holding the mantle of responsibility well.😁 Getting the tire pressure down low is a huge off-road hack and on the sand it’s really invaluable. I’m liking thw goat bra idea, not sure they’re gonna like it though. 🤣
Yeah, this is true! The focus of this one was definitely on the road itself and due to the nature of travel we were both pretty beat at the end of each day.
Yep! I just pulled the headliner off and glued the blanket on, pretty straight forward. I don’t think I really covered it in our build video unfortunately, but may I’ll do another tour video and include the stuff that we missed in our first one.
Insane!! Curious to know if you have a schedule or do you just go with the flow? I saw a few spots that I would have probably pulled out and spent the night if I didn't have a schedule. What are your favorite apps for finding these trails? Keep up the awesome work!!
Thanks Scott! 🙌🏻 We were on a bit of a time crunch as we had a family get together in Cabo to attend. In the coming adventures I think we’ll drive a little less each day to make it a little more manageable over a long stretch. We were both pretty gassed after the two 5-6hr days of driving in the heat. I think we’ll do more like 2-3 next time. But we have 10days worth of food and water on board so we can really take as much time as we need when we set out to do a trail. Thanks for watching!🙌🏻🙌🏻
Another awesome video guys! We drove this road from south to north in January of this year and camped at the beach not far from the base of that crazy climb. We considered continuing north after that but read that the road was impassable due to a heavy storm. I'd love to know if you did the drive pre or post January '24 if you don't mind sharing.
I think we drove it in February of 24’. The last descent to the sea of Cortez was quite steep and rocky and would have taken a while to make it up, but it was definitely passable.
Yup, one of my faves too. The drone sections are insane, the ascents are steep and the descents gnarly. I love seeing Betty plough through those clouds of spewing dust, and Meg pine after everything that moves on four legs. Winner vid, you two. AND you've done a lot of proving what good drivers can get through with 2WD!
What a crazy climb! I know the video didn't do justice to the actual incline. I want to drive it!
Honestly, any steeper and I’m not sure the van would have done it. I know the 4L80 transmission are praised for their strength, but dang, I for sure the TC was gonna start slipping.
@@SlowRoamers I should probably figure out what I have in my F150!
I did laugh at all the "swearing in Canadian".

That’s the goal, inspiriting people to send it in their 2WD’s!! Thanks for watching!
the van is performing well!
It really is! Were continually impressed.😁
Great meeting you guys. Keep up the awesome videos. And yes we were subscribed.😅
Great meeting you both as well! All the best on your travels!🙌🏻
You two are awesome. 🤙🏼
Thanks Josh!🙌🏻🙌🏻
Great to see the Baja Divide Trail. Love seeing the fun and laughter throughout the journey... even in dusty, hot, bumpy roads!
😁😁😁, it was a regular ol adventure!

That’s a great idea!
Love this video, you two keep me laughing, keep up the great videos
Yaaas! Always happy to deliver some fresh laughs straight to your screen.😁😁😁
Very nice video, like really nice and well done. So I guess you have raised the bar for yourself.
Russ
Thanks Russ! Yep, the one kind of funny challenge is with each video I realize that I have to match it next video. 😁 Thanks for watching!
I was thinking surpass, and I’m confident both of you will make it happen. Enjoy your day guys.

I am loving your videos! I hope you guys are doing well!
That’s fantastic! So stoked you’re enjoying them. We’re doing great, loving Mexico right now.
Great footage wow! We feel you on the layer of dust on the bed… haha old vehicles UNITE! seriously though, making us want to be in Baja right beside ya. B e a utiful!
Aw, thanks guys. We’d gladly accept you back into the Baja posse. When we’re all back on the island one day, let’s make an annual Baja adventure trip.

Good drone stuff. And music. Fish on Land! Love that. Nearly 8500 subs! You two have a good vibe going. Keep it up!

Que Chingon felicidades. Por ese proyecto de vida.
¡gracias! Amamos México y todos sus lugares secretos. Esperamos explorar mucho más del país.

Thanks Harlan! We’d both love a puppy but unfortunately it adds a whole new level of complications to our plans for future. We’ll adopt a Baja dog when we settle down.😁
Long hot ,dusty ,bumpy rides....I feel a sing song coming on.???????
You want to write it and produce it for us?
Me too Meg, me too. Every animal should be required to stop so I can pet it.
Should we start a separate “Meg Pets Animals and Cooks” channel?🤣
Don't wanna be petting any cooks!! How 'bout "Meg Cooks and Pets Animals" ? 😂😂
@@SlowRoamers as long as you still post them with this channel too
If you can bucket of water on sand will help as well in help getting out.

Karla said thumbs down, not enuf vanlifecooking on this episode 🙂 I'm just here for the dirt road stuff
Yeah, this is true! The focus of this one was definitely on the road itself and due to the nature of travel we were both pretty beat at the end of each day.
Meg was too busy feeding animals to feed Alex! But hey, those cervesas on the beach looked pretty good! 🍻
what is your headliner made of Mexican blanket ? i love it do a video on it !!!

No problem. I hope it’s good intel.😬
Canadian cursing??? 😂 14:00
Yeah! Gee Whiz bud, quit steppin at me!
I wish that Betty had AC, because Alex’s makeup is melting 🫠
Ha! Not to mention everything else.
@@SlowRoamersNow that is even more funny!
@@SlowRoamersI don’t think that you were supposed to share that, Alex! Is nothing sacred between a couple of fun Canadians?
Hopefully I am not doubling up on someone else's question here, but what DID Meg sign up for? LOL
That’s actually a good question, I might need to get Meg to reply cuz I’m not entirely sure what she signed up for.😂
Wonder if masking tape would help on the rear door seems. 🤷🏻♂️
I actually tried to make a better deal with tape and foam but the results weren’t really satisfactory.
@@SlowRoamers I was thinking plastic, myself. We have our fair share of dust on everything when we travel too, including our bedding!!
