Here I use a 15mm Craftsman Overdrive Wrench to break a couple of bolts loose (couldn’t be too terribly tight, I’ve never found a torque spec despite being 10.9 marked on the heads) For the less anti slip version. With a 12 point box end, amzn.to/4ehkGwS If you are ok with the 6pt box end and more aggressive anti slip feature, the metric version of the Overdrive line. www.lowes.com/pd/CRAFTSMAN-11Pc-OVERDRIVE-MM-Wrench-Set/5014481415 Disclaimer: Links included in this description may be affiliate links. Very interesting results. These new fangled fastener gripping wrenches weren't around back in my day. Looks like they can get the job done without damaging fasteners. It would be interesting to see how they work on fasteners after Mauler The Installer, Backyard Billy or the Autozone Mobile Auto Assassin effects a repair rounding off the heads of various nuts and bolts.
@@mlieser1230 oh this is far from over. Have something I’m working on. This was just a quick preliminary. Lol Man your character names are killin me 🤣 yet so accurate.
Oh, thanks for the video man! I think that does answer the question - which is that the marring is pretty minimal. I suppose the sockets would be similar, with the "RBRT" teeth on the same number of sides and making about the same amount of contact.
@@GarenP this was a fairly low torque situation. I intend to test this a bit more thoroughly with a few wrenches coming up. My present theory is the box end won’t mar anything until it’s partly rounded and needs a fair amount more force.
Nice looking wrench just don't understand the flank drive on the 6 point side seems more like a sales pitch in my opinion seems everyone is on a six point kick I get that but like you mentioned a 12 point just gives you more chances at a bolt in a tight spot but it is important to have both I just use my 12 points more unless it's easy access or outside the engine bays then I grab the 6's thanks for the demonstration the wrench barley left a witness mark under high torque I agree it might it will be interesting to see how much of one I'll be sure to stay tuned
@@Donthetoolman torque was meh. Lol I agree with you on the 6pt and 12pt thing. The grooves in the 6pt are very similar to those on the 6 point box of the RBRT & 285X. And I’m sure you know the point there is to grab on rounded off fasteners, which obviously, these are not. Lol Thanks for joining in again Don!
Those don't look very aggressive. The last set of 6-point box combo wrenches I had were Gearwrench. I wound up getting rid of those because they were not good quality. Especially at the open end because they would start spreading bad at low torque. I was planning on buying another set to replace them and just never got around to it. Not enough companies offer an affordable 6-point box combo wrench either. May have to wind up going with a set of those. BTW, I found a seller on Amazon that had 1 set of the v-series mm left at the $40 sale price just a few minutes ago and snagged them. Hopefully, I won't be getting an email in the morning saying they had to cancel the order due to availability. That's happened a couple of times to me with Amazon when it says there's one left in stock. If they do, I'll probably just order the last 2 pairs of Engineer Neji-saurus precision pliers I need to finish off a complete set of those I'm working on.
@@shadow7796 they’re not quite as aggressive as the RBRT but more so than the PT. If that makes sense. Sort of like the two had a love child. I have a set of those Gearwrenches. They’re the worst form of meh. I have more respect for a set of Lonnggggg Pittsburgh combos I have on hand. I should cover those in a video. Ahhhhh you would be the one I saw got an order in! I’m glad! I saw and then checked Amazon and they appeared to still be on sale when I looked! I just stumbled over a set of used Snap On 3/8 dr 12pt SAE deep sockets for like 1/4th what I could find them on eBay for. Somehow I have zero SAE deep 12pt sockets and I know I’ll need at least the 1/2” at some point. Probably could have grabbed impact sockets but whatever. Thanks for the continued support!
Well, oddly enough, I honestly think that between Craftsman’s Black Chrome Offering, this black chrome in the Overdrive version, and then the V series (Facom rebrand), all are just better wrenches than the old stuff. The raised panel are just basically the same as the old. Now the ratchets on the other hand, are rather hit and miss. The compact and the low profile models seem to be the standouts in the ratchets. I still need to watch your latest video! And thanks for joining in!
I think they will do decently. If one doesn’t mind the 11mm skip. If they fail, that would be when I’d finally upgrade were I not down my tool rabbit hole here.
I can think of only one time I've used a 11mm and that was on a 1992 chevy blazer transfer case shaft but i still keep a 11mm around because you just never know@gtcam723
@gtcam723 I agree believe it or not I thought I was dealing with a 7/16th fastener and usually 7/16th will replace the 11mm but nope it couldn't be that easy lol had to spend 20 minutes digging through sockets to find one 11mm socket that I wasn't sure I had luckily I did I think it was just a situation to where the 7/16th was not true to spec
Thats good to know real world. I was always curious about that...Hey man, now that you have that off, don't forget to replace that swaybar with an Anti-Rock! Just a little 'while ur in there' ya know? Lol
Yeah I’ll get to that eventually. Trying to decide if I’m going to stick with the HP30 and Truetrac or if I’m going to build a 609 Was planning to stretch it. Now thinking I may keep the stock wheelbase and just fab the long arms around that.
@@gtcam723Nice! 609? Like your gonna put a 9" third member on the D60 housing? I only recently heard about those. Sounds like the best of both worlds if thats what it is...
