Wonderful final design, but I have to admit I really like the other options along the way. Thank you for your patience and persistence. So much fun to learn something new from you every time!
I am so happy to hear that you like the other designs. That way I know to keep including them. Fortunately everyone has different tastes and I would rather show multiple layouts than go to all the trouble to make separate videos with each layout. Although maybe people would like more shorter videos. What do you think? That way each design could be highlighted and you would only have to watch the one you like the best.
@@QuestioningQuilter No way shorter videos!! 🤩 Who wants a 5 minute visit?? 😅 Of course it's much more fun, but more importantly it keeps the energy, ideas and inspiration flowing. 🥰
I love how it came out! Sometimes accidents are a wonderful thing! I’m glad you can say you had issues with the block - but found a creative way to make it absolutely beautiful 😊
I think it is only fair to show people that I am not some sort of mystic that can "Just See" these great designs. It is hard work and plenty of dead ends. I am happy that you enjoyed seeing it.
Brita, you make very interesting and enjoyable videos. You’re one of my favorite presenters. You don’t waste our time- which I appreciate so much! You’re clear and direct. You show us what you’re doing in a clear way. You present alternatives which sparks imagination. I appreciate you. Thank you and Happy New Year!!
Amazing! I love it. This is the next quilt to be made. I have a fabric that has been waiting for a quilt design. Thanks for this video. And, there is no waisted fabric. Fantastic!😊😊😊
Hmmm, I didn't think so at first, but I see what you are talking about. Simple arrow blocks would be much easier but these are interlocked and have the white windcatcher in the negative space. I went back to it and you can eliminate the seams on the arrow shafts by making each block a shaft with an arrowhead on either side. But the pattern would be a little more complicated. It would be made of 3 uneven rows. The middle row would be the 3 1/2" X 11 shaft. The arrowheads would have the same four 4" HST's but also four 2" X 4" (instead of two 4" X 4") white pieces. The arrowhead (top and bottom) rows would be 4" X 11". Yes, there would be fewer seams but the piecing would also be slightly more complicated. I really appreciate you looking at the quilt and giving me feedback. I stick by this pattern though as being a reasonable and elegant method of making this quilt. Thanks so much for this comment, Brita
Hi again, Someone asked how this would look with scraps. If the cut up blocks are mixed up the quilt would look like this! imgur.com/BDCbCer This takes away your concern about making it with fewer seams. I hope that you like it. Brita
I also love this channel! But I was wondering if you could just cut 3 strips the same size and just snowball the corners of the 2 white (background) strips?
That turned out so awesome. Nothing like a happy accident to make your day and encourage you to keep on keeping on!! Love the results. Don’t know how you do it, but I’m sure glad you do ❤️❤️ Thank you for taking the time to demonstrate this for us ordinary people 😂
I am so happy that you liked it. I am also very happy that I was able to find something that I liked after hitting the wall. I was so relieved when I found the design. A very happy accident. Thank you so much for watching!!!
Hey Brita, I was just wondering if you had tried cutting the block corner to corner. It might be interesting especially if you had 4 of them to switch out pieces. Thanks for posting this, I’m sure glad I found your channel. I have only made one quilt top and now I am working on a plan to quilt it myself. Cheers 😎
Hi Rose, I haven't tried cutting the block from corner to corner yet, but you know that I am going to try it now. Thanks for the great idea. The only bad thing is that I am going to have trouble sleeping tonight with that ideal whirling in my head. I am glad that you found this channel. I am so very happy to have people like you along for the ride. Stay well and Happy Quilting. Brita
I like this, it would make a cute quilt for a toddler boy. Maybe sewn up with green for the background and red & yellow for the arrows, bordered with a bright juvenile car print.
That is a great idea. I love the color combination you came up with. I think that would look so very cute. You would just have to make sure that the green is light enough that the yellow arrow still shows up. I would love to see this made up with those colors.
Brita, I love your channel and all of your disappearing patterns. The way you think about blocks and your videos are awesome. I have always wanted to get to know you more so I'm very excited to watch your interview with Donna on Monday the 5th. It's on my calendar, see you then :), Di
I am so glad to hear it. I also thought that this was a very nice block. And it is so very easy, the quilt would go together so quickly. Thanks so much!
I like that name for the firs block. I hadn't thought of that, but I see it now. I can't see right off the bat how to made the red and blue arrows facing each other. Because the red arrows are only created when you put 4 blue arrows together, I'm not sure how that would work. But thanks for asking. It shows interest in the block and a curiosity about how to make it better. If you figure out how to make it work, let me know. Brita
You are almost certainly right. There are also probably blocks that were never published anywhere so there names are lost to us forever. I am sure that I couldn't be the first quilter in the world to make that starting block.
Which way is up? Final quilt and barred snowball for the cut block. I love this quilt and I can see many possibilities with the base blocks. You are so great, thank you for everything you do!
Hmmm….after doing some searching I could not find what I thought this block was called. This looks like a signature snowball. But like you came up empty, I could not find this. Very interesting what you come up with! Keep up the good work! And with failure comes success!
Thanks so much for looking for the name of this block. You are right, it looks really close to a signature snowball. I really appreciate the effort you took on my behalf. You are too kind. I am glad that you like the finished quilt.
