  • What’s it like living in the Azores? and Why did I move to the Azores? - Interview with Anna Lintvariova, businesswoman, the company founder - Gardenium aromatics.
Find out more information firsthand from the video!
    - Tell me your story. When did you move to Azores?
    - I moved to Azores 3 years ago. But the first time I arrived here was 5 years ago. I was a tourist and traveled with a group. I was working in the tourism industry and we decided to go in Azores as a new vibrant destination that was promoted at the time.
    - Anna, can we emphasize that Azores is a common place to live?
    - I think that Azores is one of the best places to live in the world. Because we are safe, we have a great climate, we have sustainable living, we have amazing nature, infrastructure that one needs, good education, I mean good affordable education, plus activities for kids that for me was important to choose.
I think, at the beginning, it was maybe that place of retirement, but now, in the last years, there are a lot of families with young children moving here because the island is growing, it’s vibrant. There are also people who work from home now, so it doesn’t matter where they live, or they just have income, and it doesn’t matter how old they are.
I think Azores is the place for everyone - for retirement, and for families with children, and for people who just love nature and sports, eventually. Because I also met people here who adore nature and they do love surfing, they do love running, cycling, tracking, hiking.
This place is for everyone. It depends on what are you busy with. What are you looking for - the good weather, or the activities, or work.
This video answers those questions: Where are the Azores? Is Azores a good place to live? Is the Azores a safe place to live? Is it expensive to live in Azores? What is there to do in the Azores? What is special about the Azores?
    More information in the video!

My wife and I stay now in Azores, Terceira, for holiday. We arrived on Sao Miguel, went to Flores and now on Terceira. We very love these Islands. These are all different but have also similarities. In the two weeks We stay here, at the coaster sides, it is mostly sunny, in the center more often foggy, but not always. We love to go to the small supermarkets for an espresso, for only 60 to 80 eurocents. Today, we bought delicious baguette with tuna, ham, salat and tomato for less than 2 euros! Very friendly people, mainly good roads, and amazing nature

My parents emigrated from the Azores and we went back in the summers. We have a place on the ocean and fall asleep to the waves. English is commonly spoken with many old and most of the young. They also speak many other languages like Italian and French. Other then petty theft it’s safe anytime of the day. Weather is great, it could be raining on one side of the island and be clear on the other. Food is amazing and festive all year around. Yes I’ve gone swimming in the end of October! The islands get warm current from Caribbean. Lots of sea life, octopus, manta rays, whales, dolphins etc. Many locals go to Portugal for weekends since it just a 2 hr flight and flights are cheap. Many have sailing boats and sail from island to island along with races. Large islands have full hospitals and helicopter ambulances. Go see it you won’t regret it. Very truthful interview.

I vacation here every summer since 2015 and stopped because of covid . We go back this August and are flying from Newark with United straight into Ponta Delgada and I’m excited. I went with Delta the 2 years prior to Covid and loved how convenient it was versus having to fly to Boston and then to Ponta Delgada. This island is beautiful, relaxing and you loose weight here lol I eat all the carbs I love and actually leave with less pounds and the food is so organic you do not get bloated here. @@tubbyrainbow111 As long as the volcanoes are not extinct (there isn't just one in the Azores) chances to erupt exist, but nobody can predict when. Also, earthquakes can "help" volcanoes to erupt. A ton of small earthquakes were registered this year alone in the Azores, around 1000 if I remember, which created a bit o panic regarding an incoming eruption, but look it up for yourself. However, I don't want to discourage you, the Azores are awesome, and as always, there are pluses and minuses, but as long as you take all the precautions (like how to exit the Islands fast if "shit hits the fan") I'm sure you'll have the time of your life. 👍

The Azores were very isolated and was indeed a very patriarchal tradional society. But, times changed alot, some of the older people and some more rural areas may have that way of thought, but today, is like any other first world place, which has its issues, but everyone has equal rights and woman came in a long way, being represented everywhere, to teachers, farming (which is usually a mans place) to politics. Still there is a long way to go, but its ALOT more diferent then pre 1975. Nothing alike.
