How Walshy and the Ogre twins aren’t tied at first is a depressing sight. They carried Halo into the next level.
yeah, they carried it into to golden era, but the ogre twins carried walshy for years lmao.
@@mrbige7244 they didn’t carry shit
@Eikuzain one tournament how many times did Ogre 2 beat walsh throughout Halo 3 after Ogre 1 retired?
@@mitchconner2021 Walshy placed ahead of Ogre 2 in every single tournament since he was booted by the ogres in 2008 right through 2009 8 times in a row (Toronto, Dallas, Vegas 08 Meadowlands, Columbus, Dallas Anahiem, Orlando 09) Ogre 2 beat Walshy 5 times in halo 3 after booting him from FB. Ogre 2 is greater but lets not act like Ogre 2 shit on him the whole time. They each had a couple years of beating each other.
Who's the ogre twins? I knew walshy but never heard of them
8th is honestly kind of disrespectful. Walshy deserved far better.
Yeah and Lethul and Snakebite being top 5 is a joke lol recency bias by a LONG shot.
Agreed
@@mitchconner2021snakebite quite literally demolished lmao you’re just into nostalgia
This video gives me the chills. Hearing Walshys name shouted like that inspires anyone who watches it. He really should be higher on this list. He is definitely top 3 on my list.
Haha
Me too friend, chills
Yeah I understand some newer players need to be on the list but walshy is way too low. The strength of the names I think he should be ahead of is a testament to walshy not a knock at the newcomers.
Consider how much walshy impacted the eSports scene I'm a little surprised someone like T2 didn't get a mention.
T2 wasn't nearly as good as Walshy was back in the day, but he was on MTV and was on Dr Pepper bottles. These things literally put halo eSports on the map in terms of building the scene. Without these guys it may not have grown to what it became.
Walshy is the guy everybody wanted to be!
I peaked at 7th ranked NA for Halo 3. I remember I played against Walshy in a MLG match I out BRd him once in that match I then screen shotted the kill feed where it said I killed Walshy and that was my icon picture. 😂
@shanegeraghty1785 I always screen shot shit like that lol or clip it now 😂
goosebumps
Rankings aside, I'm loving this video series.
Exactly
Walshy is such an amazing person, let alone player. I’ll never forget my first time meeting him. Love him to death.
I was in his clan back in 2005/2006 and a lot of nights after his team scrims he would set up a party and just create some ridiculous gametypes that in hindsight created some of my favorite memories of late night Halo2 even though everyone in the parties those nights was really just hoping we would run random 4's and end up on his team.
Dave is a stand up dude IRL. We were both on the same HS wrestling team. I have mad respect for the guy.
I went to Grandville as well lol. Used to hang with him a little bit back in the day.
I got paired against Walshy in Reach one time... Slayer on Sanctuary. We lost that match like.. 50-5. I'm not a terrible player either, it was an eye opening experience of just how good these guys are
In my eyes, he was MLG's true shining champion. Ogre 2 may've gotten more success, but Walshy was the star! Downright sensational!
I'm outside the halo esports scene but even I've watched a washy compilation one or two times man dudes a beast
One of the original technicians of the game. Undeniable f'n legend. Plus he has cats. 💪❤
Met Walshy at the first Halo infinite Lan. If a fan came up he always talked to them, and if offered would always take a picture. One of the nicest people ive ever met.
so awesome. my sixth grade teacher grew up with him and one day walshy actually came to our class, it was amazing lol
"I knew if we got in the finals I was gonna tear them up" 😈😈 Walshy really was on some demon mode sh*t and backed it all up. Love to see it
Is this a really, really bad joke? His stats alone objectively prove he should have a far better placement.
Yeah i think he's top 5 all day and you could possibly make a argument for top 3.
Top 5 minimum
In my opinion, Walshy is the halo esport player….#1 not only #8…..oh my god, it is walshy, everybody who likes halo esport, knows walshy!
@@ItsSliWill While Walshy and Ogre 1's rankings are already ridiculous and completely invalidate this list... If Lethul ranks higher than Snipedown I will lose my mind.
@@ItsSliWill then they will do honorable mentions lol
For me, these were the best days of halo 2 competition. Primo top talent. Incredible time to be alive.
I'll never forget his groundbreaking montage with edits way ahead of their time
Fun fact: The clip starting at 4:50 is an edit with audio overlayed from an old double kill snipe on lockout. The edit is more popular than either of the clips singularly and so has become part of the head cannon of Halo history.
How is he not #1 is mind blowing to me
#8 is a slap in the face by 343 to one of the greatest players of all time - disgracing his legacy by putting Halo 5 players above him to promote your god awful ruined halo games. I'm shocked the people making this list didn't refuse to put it out.
We didn't make the list, we're just reporting out what the judges decided.
Nobody touches the classic players like walshy, pistola, and the ogres
tf r u on about lmao, so much of what you said is utter bs
#8 for Walsh does not even make sense. 343 is lucky a player like Walshy brought so much attention to their games. This list in my eyes is now a joke with such a stupid decision to put Walshy at #8.
Those Halo 5 players have more earnings, better overall placings, etc. It's like you didn't read the criteria for judging. Big fan of 05-08 Final Boss, but y'all are the ones acting disgraceful and disrespectful toward players, not this list.
This brought a tear to my eye. Well done.
Walshy needs to have a 30 for 30 on ESPN, because he IS that LEGENDARY!
How Walshy isn't tied top is ATROCIOUS. I remember how good he was at the time watching it live. Untouchable. One of best esports players OF ALL TIME.
His peak just lasted like 2 or 3 years. That's why he's kinda low. He struggled in H3 once people figured out the game.
if his time, but yeah. He was a great anchor player. He made it possible for his teammates to pick up so many kills. In halo if you're down a shot at a top level of play you are done so by anchoring and putting one burst into every thing alive will ultimately give your team a huge adv. He always took top mid and held it. They had a very setup based gameplay style. He wasnt exactly the craziest shot in the game but always big brain play that allowed his team to do what they needed to do!
@@HaloToe Always innovating as well. In 2009 he mastered the insta splode and started doing it at every possible moment. His Carbon teamates started using it more and more often as well through 2009. Fast forward to 2010 and now everyone is insta sploding constantly and accurately (although walsh still was the king of them, he was doing insta splodes no one else would think of doing in a pro game lol)
@@sketch3744 Yep accurate
I predicted Walshy to land #1 in this ranking. This seems pretty low for being the face of Halo esports for years.
The actual list should be
1- Og2
2- Og1
3- Walshy
4- igoturpisto1a
5- doesn't matter at this point, put in all the 343 halo players you want but top 4 should never change
@@tiptopanteater7713 1000%
@@tiptopanteater7713 Yep that's the correct top 4
Even Gandhi made a top 25 list of all time on his channel and that is his top 4 placements as well, Roy is number 5 right after Pistola on his list. Which I think is the correct top 5.
@@tiptopanteater7713 The way it's meant to be
@@tiptopanteater7713 1 - Ogre Twins
2. Walshy
3. Pistola
4. Hysteria
5. Snip3down
6. Neighbour
7. Lunchbox
8. FearItSelf
9. T2
10. TSquared
11. SK
12. BesT MaN
Edit: I keep thinking of more players. I also find it absolutely sacrilege that players such as Hysteria are completely forgotten.
Walshy is one of the OG LAN guys. I remember High School and College LAN nights vividly. So much fun and hilarious trash talk. Then when I flexed my muscles in the small pond Halo 2 forced me to get humble and work harder. I was extremely happy to be top 1000 Rumble Pit. Cracking that elusive list was huge. Walshy took the top 4 pitters to beat the seemingly invincible Ogre twins. Then of course joined them to dominate for a very long time. Loved he kept his FFA going.
Should easily be top 5 or even 3. Dominance in halo 1, halo 2, and halo 3 plus his innovativeness.
Let’s go. Congratulations Walshy.
Shit gave me goosebumps. Papa Walsh is goated
If any H4-H5 only guys are in the top 7, I'm gonna lose it
They aren't, Lethul, Snakebite, and Royal 2 have all been playing since Halo 3, two of them since Halo 2 (in FFA)
Exactly. Halo top anything mean halo 1-3
Lmfao I fill you there
@@FPSBloodlust What makes the CE-Halo 3 days specials was the hundreds of teams and players crammed together duking it out for the main stage on Sunday. Teams would share screens haha. Man take me back.
My 🐐
Thank you for this. What a time in the early 2000s competing with all our friends. Holding out hope that Infinite brings a crazy resurgence back to the pro Halo world. Rip battle royal meta
Yes. This.
seems good so far…
Ogre twins and Walshy are the goats of halo
I mean to be honest #1 Ogre2 #2 Ogre1 and #3 Walshy. Everyone knows this who is over 30. These awful 343 games with hardly anyone playing shouldn't even count. MLG events had 200+ teams
Exactly this. 💯
24 and i couldn’t agree w this more. those 3 made the halo MLG scene what it was and brought it to the national stage.
So did events in Halo 5, the first worlds qualifiers had over 300 teams sign up. You're just uneducated and nostalgic. It's fine to have him in your own top 5, but get your facts straight. All you dingleberries talking about how young players are ignorant don't have a clue what you're talking about yourselves.
And before anybody says some dumb shit, I played CE-3, I respect Walsh, the ogres, Snipedown and Ola, but y'all are the ones with biases towards newer players and games. Don't get it twisted. Rose colored lenses prevent you from recognizing talented players. You have the literal opposite of "recency bias"
@@FPSBloodlust "the first worlds qualifiers"... Emphasis on first. How did it do after that? Was competition up to the standards set by the older games through the entirety of the game's lifespan?..... Also "Qualifiers"... Was that online? Or in person for H5? Hope you don't think one event having tons of signups equates to equivalent competitive scene to that of the older games.
This past generation stretched out longer than any before it. So these kids that dominate today got the benefit of an extended stay for H5. Give CE a 6 year life span and then get back to me on what Walshy, Ogre1, Ogre2 achieved.
All that to say, dominating across 3+ games is much more impressive than dominating H4, H5 even if for the same amount of time.
So give me a break with the rose tinted glasses nonsense. It's bullshit.
Such a fucking boss. Love this dude. I still get pumped when he casts, too.
Kozzn getting clipped at 4:36 is the best part of this video
damn brings back memories i remember walshy back in the halo 2 days good to see him doing well
I can't believe this video doesn't include him beating final boss in 2008 Toronto.
absolutely beautiful. well said by everyone. Love ya Walshy.
Everytime goldenboy opens his mouth, it's the same sentence with a different players name. He is the ultimate name dropper.
Nice video, but he shouldn't be below Snakebite, Royal2 and Roy.
Now this is my era of video games, MLG BABY!! I remember the rivalry between str8 rippin and final boss, i was str8 rippin fan and HATED final boss but looking back now I have nothing but respect. What an amazing time to be apart of the birth on esports as we know it!
Literally the reason I discovered mlg and got into esports. 14 years later and I’m still here
The first time I ever heard of a professional video game player and it was the man Walshy
Dude these things are so well done it’s amazing .
I watched SO much of Walshy as a kid.
Absolute legend! Definitely feels like he should be ranked higher.
Walshy is KOBE mane.
Why does this translate to "chess is a cup of 🤣
even though i dont agree with the HCS list these videos have been amazing.
I remember when RUclips first came out and I played halo 2 at my friends house in the late 5th grade and middle school before I had Xbox live. He was a god.
Don't like how this list is going so far, if Ogre 2 is anywhere out of the top 3 I'm going to lose it.
Agree
My top 3 in no particular order are walshy ogre2 and pistola
There is no possible way they don’t have 2gre at #1
3:06 walshys “and i took that personally” MJ moment
The stereo "Beat down Ghostayame" is gold!
I found this video while wearing the same hoodie I purchased back in the day!! This took me down memory lane!!!!!
Judges btw and they each created there own list
Bravo - Former Halo Pro Coach, and Commentator
Elamite - Former Halo Pro, and Commentator
Goldenboy - Halo Commentator (Also a Global Icon and National Treasure)
Clutch - Former Halo Pro, and Commentator
Walshy - Former Halo Pro, and Commentator
Goofy - Former Halo Pro, and Commentator
Mikwen - Former Halo Pro
Gaskin - Halo Commentator
Heinz - Former Halo Pro.
So u think he’s #8 or Na. He’s top 5 for sure
FFS he was sponsored by red bull. In the mid 2000’s for gaming!! That’s stuff of legend
Walshy deserves number 1 just how he changed the whole MLG alone . To me it's more then jus how much you won which he did alot of himself it's how you changed a whole generation if kids wanting to become pro
Saw him downtown Grand Rapids during Pulaski Days. Was going to tell him I was a fan but he had a few friends with him. Gave him a thumbs up and he winked back 😂😂
You guys do realize walshy was on the panel of judges who created their lists with also strongside tsquared elamite
According to Ogre1 tweet: "I have had personal talks and/or heard from verified sources that the judges may not have even known the criteria they were voting on, whereas the Halowaypoint blog officially states criteria that were given to judges."
@@juncoangel that's true but we will never know unless dms are leaked or judges straight come out on twitter or youtube and say something
Hence why ogre1 was ranked 11th when he has some of the best stats and a crazy KDR
Wooo weee getting a nostalgia rush from these videos! Great job guys!
A true legend of the game. he was the biggest star of halo in the world.
I'm so glad I was a part of this era. I ask pvp players in any game if they were back in Halo, lots of no's usually and I just can't imagine missing out on such a monumental era.
man i remember losing sleep to watch this man play for the first time. back when i didnt have xbl and my halo addiction began. this dude was great
also walshy should be top three
I remember watching the old walshy halo compilation tens of times trying to be like him as a kid
should be placed higher imo
See kids, this is how you state your opinion in a respectful way
Walshy broke ground & barriers, and if he had even remotely the same type of success in Halo 3 he’d be higher on the list.
every teenager during mlg scene wanted to be Walshy, hands down.
Dude that Clips!! so much nostalgia!!
This dude was the team captain of the best dynasty in gaming history. He's always number 1 in my mind for that even until this day!
I met this guy at a Halo 2 tournament at GameStop. I had no idea who he was and I thought I had a chance of winning at that store. Everyone who came #1 at the respective store would get selected for the next round. Some guy heard me talking about my chances and he said you have no chance. Hotshy (before he called himself Walshy) is here at our location and he's pretty good. Ya he was. He won the whole thing
Personal
Goat .
these should have soooo many more views.
Favourite halo player of all time. The most iconic player & the face of halo. HCS should be ashamed to put him 8th. Disrespectful.
Walshy was the king growing up. He should be way higher on the list
Halo 2 walshy was unstoppable!!
Was just watching a Kyle Beats video yesterday. 🔥
We love Walshy!
My idol growing up in competitive FPS
Didn't even talk about his the FInal Montage... jesus
I wish they did! his were the best
Walshy at 8 is just a crime.
Still have halo 3 screen shots & video where we played vs him & his squad
This is my entire childhood
I remember watching Halo 2 on an ESPN channel back in the day, fell in love ever since. Of course it was Final Boss vs Carbon
I was playing in mlg and wcg in Aus and I heard his name all the way from here
one of my favorite dudes because he instasplodes and he just kicks ass at halo 2!
Chilling on the the Rushmore right now
The Greatest individual player I have ever seen at a specific point in time.
I don't what this list is but Walshy is easily top 2. I was a live scrub in the H2 days and even I knew the legend of Walshy and the Ogres.
I remember Gandhi as well. He was annoying to play against. He would hit crouch repeatedly after jumping to constantly change his hitboxes and still get the kills. I tried to do that but it was so hard to do midair crouches and nail your opponent
That "gotem" for the nosc double on guardian hits different in 2021.
He's the GOAT if you ask me.
Saludos desde Medellín, Colombia 🇨🇴
This is a comedy show at this point.
Take it up with the judges, one of which was Walshy, the rest of which were former pros and commentators. Good lord with you weirdos. Just enjoy the video
Walshy is the best, and I even had the privilege to match against him at MLG Anaheim, during Halo reach when he teamed with Ninja, Best man and Mikwen when they were turning point playing through the AMs, I remember silently apologizing everytime I killed him lol
And I know ogre 1 only won one event in halo 3 but he’s still top ten 100%
Those were truly simpler days.
Final Boss was such an overpowered team lol
I only give Ogre 2 the number one spot due to longevity and winning longer into his career. Hands down Walshy #2. He was the mastermind of their team strategy, he could fill any roll, he kept the team playing as a unit. That’s just my Opinion….
Agreed, that was my thought process too
@@turtleb7170 I don’t think many people realize what made Final Boss so dominating. It’s like in the NFL a great head coach that can keep a team focused on sticking to a game plan and not breaking that game plan even if things are going bad is the team that always comes out on top. Walshy was that coach and they maintained a very solid game plan that he created to compliment their strengths.
@@turtleb7170 he also would change their strats based off the other teams weakness different strats for Carbon, Str8 Rippin etc… Guy was a mastermind
man these guys were nice to play with me and my friends and send us invites we rarely played with these guys but every now and then someone you knew knew them and invited you to their online FFAs
This is where I got my nick name from , I wonder what Bonfire , itWasLuck and those other guys are doing now.
Who can forget itwaslucks montages
Randomly met Walshy and Neighbor 3 years ago at a bar near Dreamhack Atlanta. Couldn't be a nicer guy. Should be higher up on this list too - top 2 or 3.
Did my mans take his shoes off on main stage to play… what an alpha move
