Staying on top from CE to H3 is much more meaningful than H4 to H5. H5 is the longest living title in the series and this benefits the H5 generation. Give H2 a 6 year dev cycle and the Ogres and Walsh would have reigned even more supreme.

its basically a generational thing. Everything after H3 kind of passed me by so naturally i look to some of the OGs as being ahead of players who came up after h3. The younger crowd who had most of their goolden days in the newer games would side with Lethal..... goes like that in every sport every era has their goat. Old school vs new school
I find myself in the same boat here. If we are talking straight skill, Lethul to me is clear #1. Old generation in anything is almost always better than old. But I look back at the h3 days and just remember the magic that was Ogre 2, Snipedown, Roy, Pistola, etc.

I’m in the same spot, but I think there’s validity to it. IMO the original trilogy was the golden age for halo as an esport, and with halo 2 & halo 3, in particular during the MLG era, Halo was THE top console esport, and definitely top 3 across all platforms. There’s a reason why plenty of non-halo fans know who Walshy is, yet have never heard of lethul; from Reach onward halo was barely a side act. There’s a lot of recency bias at play here, and IMO you should prioritise the H2 & H3 pros. Admittedly though, the guys who put together the list are very experienced and clearly know their stuff.

To be fair though. Halo 4 and 5 were unanimously the worst Halo games. Lots of people retired after 3 and the talent pool got smaller. So less talent, 2 of the worst titles. Him being #2 is extremely generous

Ogre 2 > because he was top2 in H1 and the best in H2. Lethul is like Ogre 2 post H2 where he’s getting wins but he’s not the best player on his team. Lethul might have the results and longevity to be put here but I don’t think he was ever the best player in the game at any point in time. That’s why you gotta put Ogre 2 at #1.

"I don't know if he'll win the audience over..." is probably one of the most true things said in this video. I don't even think he was the best on the last two of his teams, cause in EG it was Snipedown and in Tox it was Frosty. But, he always had the knack to join the better team and help them win, so I give him credit for that. They really did struggle to find good highlights of his plays though haha.

I probably could have been on this list IF....... I watched pro players back in halo 1 and 2 days and really understood the difference between playing ranked as an above average player and competitive elite pro players in mlg and how they played. Because I stayed home from school everyday playing halo 2 stayed up all night playing halo 2 that continued with halo 3 I played reach but not as much same with 4 and 5. But had I committed and for example really studied what separates these players from the rest i put the time in 200% maybe even more time than these guys in the early days but I never took that step forward because I didn’t know it existed. I totally wouldn’t be top 25 by the way just day dreaming

The competition in the last decade pales in comparison to the 00's. These current GOATs have largely won much smaller, invite-only, protected 'World Championships' on much less popular, dead Halo games. The competition from CE-3 was extremely fierce and there were no protections. It's not these newer guys fault if they were too young to be present in that era but you can't actually take this list seriously when it's basically a love-letter/ad to current Halo pros to hype up the Infinite lineage. It's pretty patethic how revisionist and 'what have you done for me lately' this list really is.
Call me a Halo boomer but you newer Halo players that have no issue with 4/5 are the exact reason why Halo is dead. You don't understand what makes Halo--Halo. Halo has been chasing current trending games and CoD money for the past decade. Devolved into a generic shooter that has lost it's identity. I am an H2/H3 kid as well, but Halo 5 has the highest skill gap of all Halo 5 games. Leaving away the fact if it is fun or not, but it is the highest skill Halo of all time. And Frosty being the best player of the most difficult Halo 5 game make his accomplishments for example good

It hurt me to see Walshy at the #8 spot… if it wasn’t for Walsh and the other Halo pioneers, Halo wouldn’t be what it is today. They need to revise this list and get ACTUAL Halo experts to rank these players, not just a bunch of guys who started playing Halo in 2016.

The second highest number of events was 10 in 2004. Then the next was 7 in 2006.

From 2006-2008 there were a minimum of 156-200+ teams each event. Final Boss won the majority of those tournaments including 2 of the 3 national tournaments.

The people that say some mixture of “who is this” and/or “competition was harder when there were more teams, so his success doesn’t count” are just delusional and too stuck in their ways to have any valuable opinions about this list. First of all, just because there aren’t more teams, doesn’t mean the competition is less fierce. There’s a reason there was an open bracket, that top 8 teams would always run through to pools. It didn’t matter if there were 20/60/300/1000/5000 teams, FB still always made it to the finals. The same principle applies here. EG/CLG/OPT/TOX/SEN would always have made it to where they were anyways. If you doubt that, then you doubt the hypothetical that FB would’ve always made Finals if there had been another 1000 teams competing. He beat the Godsquad and won a Reach event during their peak, which is a feat in itself. He hated H4 just like everyone else. He teamed with Roybox and dominated H2A. Then transitioned to dominance in the most mechanically skillful Halo ever. I’m not even some super fan of his, but the dude deserves credit where credit is due. The pros do, old and new alike. Yes, even Ogre2.
Halo 5 suffered from lack of competition. The player pool in halo 3and aspiring to be pros far outnumbered halo 5. It was much harder to remain consistent as a result.
Halo 5 had 4ish teams that were even noteworthy due to so many pros leaving during thr title. It was a great game just suffered from the attrition started by reach
