    Thanks for the memories. When I left school, I worked at the Ceaser's Hotel in Queen Street. Me and my mates used to have a fantastic time around Wakefield in the late 70's. It is a real shame that the council seemed fit to destroy the character of Wakefield in the name of modern development. (And failed to maintain what they had done.) All those fancy brick pavements they were so proud of putting down have been patched with ugly tarmac! And I really hate how the Cathedral boundary was removed and was hard land-scaped.

    Not just the County Capital for West Riding of Yorkshire but a Royal City too hence the Fleur De Lys on the City Flag

    Kinda nuts that when Ridings was built it was biggest Shopping Centre in Europe

      And as I showed my daughter a clip of the first Ridings Christmas, I was there and it was so awesome... And then the Trinity Walk development destroyed the magic leaving a lot of of the Ridings in neglect. And destroying the market community which has never recovered. Such a shame!

      Yes, although I only went in once or twice myself, my eldest brother, Trev', did some of the DJ and electrics.

    Iam Wakefield born and bred .but i moved away 10 years ago because to many. Muslims and other ethnic groups that have our once beautiful city turned in to slums
