I'm just going to say what everyone is thinking or afraid to say. The Orion dsplx amps are the best in the industry right now. They aren't even close to being the most expensive. Every company in Korea and china is reverse engineering the boards right now.
this is what happens automatically when they build their stuff in those countries. maybe not so much in korea but in china the gov takes all of the blueprints and makes their own stuff. they don't care about copyrights, patents or trademarks. what's really a scary thought is boeing and northrop grumman build all of their controls and electronics for fighter jets and other weapon systems in china

I ran orion years ago when all this was first starting. I remember the black amp that claimed 25x4. 141 dB spl. Unreal. That was in the late 80's. Glad to see they didn't sell out
They use to call them onion amps back in the day because of the distinct smell they use to put out. Orion has been my amp of choice since the mid 80's ever since seeing an exhibition build at the sound off competition at Devonshire Downs, San Fernando, CA. It was the first time i had seen a windshield get smashed by a sound system. This guy had 10,000 watts pushing 10 or 12, 12" Cerwin Vegas in a walled mini van. In the 80's the only way to get 10,000 watts was to use a shit load of smaller amps. In this case there had to have been at least 14 amps attached to a wall at the rear. All true class A 2 channel amps if I remember right. They got hot as hell and smelled like onions. I've have used plenty of other amps over the years, Hollywood Sound Labs (under rated and not well known) , PPI, ADS, Rockford Fosgate to name a few but I have always liked running Orion's for the bottom end. I still run an old school black XTR PRO 2400 2 ohm class D mono block (rare) in my Explorer. It's my understanding that Orion only made this amp for 1 year before replacing it with the red 2500 1 ohm stable version so you don't see to many of them around. It's been about 10 years now and it is still going strong. Even though it is rated at 2 ohms I have had no problems running it at 1 ohm except for the demand for current it puts on the charging system. It's good to see Orion come back to life with it's new owners. They kind of got lost there for a while and I thought I was going to have to wright them off as another great small company turned huge corporate producer of crap like so many other brands of the 80's and 90's. Orion has a good business plan I think. They have like two completely different divisions. One is straight forward consumer grade Chinese "made for the masses" nothing special type shit you find at Wall Mart and then they have the other division dedicated to making car audio that is actually worth putting in your car. If I needed to replace my current system this amp would be on my short list of candidates. The price to power ratio of this amp is top tier.
Hey Big D, so much for Hi-Fi Vega's stealth amp category of cheater amp. Nothing stealth about how Orion is doing things with these new HCCAs. Looks like Orion is just going balls to the wall and letting everyone know they are rating their amps lower than the rest of the industry to bring back the days of Big Reds past. These new HCCAs are the NFG cheater amps. When all the other manufacturers say to Orion, "Hey guys we had a good thing going, giving as little as possible while rating as much as possible. It was good for the bottom line." Orion says, "But we sold out and lost what made us so special. Time to turn it up to 1.21 jigawatts and hit 88mph. We have no fucks to give, other companies put up or shut up!" (BTW, I do really like Robert's categorization of cheater amps into cheater and stealth. And yes I know Orions were more cheater than stealth, but these new HCCAs still DGAF.)
Congrats to the winner. I wasn't even close. When I did the math, it came out to 13k watts, but I couldn't believe it would actually do that much! My guess was 9250. I was so wrong!

It doesnt matter what subs you get, they will be jumpin out da box! Doesnt matter if you rise to 1.5 or 2 ohm, they still will be slammin! Only real problem is we all just added at least a grand to the total build bill for all the extra electrical. I mean 1000 amps plus!! FUQ me shit just got real. We all need to invest in some lead and copper cuz these beauties with the tripple power and ground inputs just made 6 runs of 1/0 and 4 group 31 agms standard. Seems like the new owners know what HCCA stands for..... High Current Competition Amplifier. I used to run 225's and 250s until I got sponsored by us amps and they would run a. .25 ohm load all day long.
Just bought this beast myself. Got it running 1 sundown u 10 for now, can't wait to unleash the monster. Love the hcca series, looking at the subs in this lineup also
How come you did not show the efficiency I'm building an off-grid solar sound system and would love to know what you feel is the most efficient amplifier that puts around 3000 Watt into 2 4ohm loads
@@VictorEstrada You don't get what he means. Back in the 80s-90s, competitions were classified by power classes. Orion and most other higher end brands offered "25W" amps... at 4Ohm, that would operate at .25 Ohm and make 500-1kW, depending on the brand/ model. They were called "cheater" amps, and, Orion was one of the kings of 1/4 Ohm- 1/2 Ohm world, as was Soundstream (Reference series would run wired .25 Ohm), US amps, Linear Power, and several others.
I tell so many people about the Orion HCCA, amps and subs rarely anyone heard about them but there are in my opinion the best amps and subs ever especially the HCCA design althought the XTR models are good, i have the HCCA 15.2 subs and the oldschool D5000 on each of them and my 158.3db at 14.1v
In 97' I worked at a tint place and rehooked the whole sound board. An Orion 225 would easily push 14 speakers. Until the power supply would kick off. The amp was barely over warm. JS
WOW! That was just straight up nasty! Congrats to Dapper on the victory and the new Orion. I really didn’t think she’d make it at .50 ohm after seeing the crazy numbers at .80 ohms and guessed PROTECT. Man, do I have egg all over my face now, ha! Big thanks to BigD & Orion for making this giveaway happen! 👍 JC
I used to be an Orion dealer. All orion amps are half ohm stable. They just don't advertise it. Back in 94 I ran a cobalt 430 4x30 watts. I pulled over 3000 watts out of it powering a pair of xtr 12dvc, pair of kicker 6.5s, pair of kicker d 20 tweeters, and 4 concord 6.5s with Sony 1 inch tweeters. Banged out a 138spl . Considering this was mids that wasn't bad for a non modified 88 escort gt.
You can clamp your fluke meter on one of your power cables, and then multiply the result by the number of wires in parallel. That will still allow you to get a reading that would otherwise be OL for the meter.
That's pretty impressive you should make a video digging into what you think their secret is, why did that amp do so much better then then other amps? Country of origin? Build quality? Etc
Just picking up the Orion, you can tell it’s some serious bidness! Orion has their own factory in Korea and designs their amps. This 3k has a progressive power supply and boy can it put out the powa!!
So this amp dynos great. I finally got a chance to try one. I had a DD audio M5 running at 1 ohm. The only dyno test I’ve seen on it says it does about 9950 dynamic at 13.6 volts. So this Orion should have easily outdone it. I lost 3.5db. Might do great on dyno. Not so great in the real world. 240ah of lithium. Mechman 400 externally regulated to 16volts. It never dropped below 15.6. It just had no power. Or no where near what it dynos at. I was so excited to try this amp. HUGE disappointment. I gain matched it, did everything right. No way it was even doing 6k. I doubt 4K. Unfortunately I didn’t have an AMM-1.
Next up Big D, XTR PRO 3500.1DX 2022 arrival from Orion. I just bought one and am curious to see what it can do. Orion didn’t include a birth sheet with it though….
Back in the 90's we ran two orion hcca 225's with two 15 in orion xtr's and dayum! All those older orion amps were highly under rated! Were talkin amps rated at 300 watts pushing over 1000 real watts. Orion, ppi, earthquake and others created the name "cheater amp".
WOW! So at 0.5 ohms what do you think it will do playing a music bass note? i ran a HCCA5000-1d @.6 ohms using three 12"sub in my daily driver . i have a volt & amp meter reading the sub wire. i have seen reading over 90 volts /90 amps (8,000 watts) while bumping/slamming . "stock 140 amp alternator, 1 acid battery, big-3 (single run of 2/0 wire) & four caps (6f ) . slamming bass , my voltage dips 12.5. 30hz test tone dips 10.5volts. My real world test and your lab test are in sync. If Orion don't be careful they will be outlaw.
I saved up a ton of money in the early 90s for a HCCA2150. For my 2 landar 15"s. It was kickass. I had that amp for 10 years. Ty I love that old school stuff.
It brings happy tears to my eyes to see Orion producing this type of equipment again. Reminds me of the early 90's when $900 econo boxes were moving the earth with some serious junk in the trunk.
I guess I was being conservative with my guess being almost 5k below actual. A 3,000 watt amp at 1 ohm doing 10k over rated at 0.5 ohm is astounding to say the least. Congrats to the winner...

Hott Damnn!! Those are some incredible numbers!! Now that’s the Orion I remember. Congrats to the winner of this beast 🍻
The wattage matched the voltage
Amazing job Big D Wiz!!!!!! So happy I brought this amp a couple of weeks ago
Not me, it’s the amp. It’s like the Energizer bunny. Just keeps going and going and going...
@@wal we won't know unless you shoot the video with an amazing battery supply!
Love it when amps are actually way over advertised ratings like this one is. Curious about 1ohm numbers on it too. Im guessing 3kW is on 2ohms right?
Nope it was on 1 ohm
That's the definition of a real beast that thang really has beast mode
I have to four mojo 615s looking for something to push them with gonna stay between 12 to 15 volts
You should make a video about this old school amp....
S850.1D - Precision Power 850W Sedona Series Class D Monoblock Amplifier
Orion HCCA and Lanzar 50C were the best competition amps back in the 90s!
I want this amp so bad I'm buying it and I don't even have nothing to push it I don't even have the power it would take to push this amp but I don't give a fuk I'm getting it
If you buy it, the subs will come...
Seriously we should all just buy one and then go from there with our builds. These things give off so much powwwwa! Mr Singer and Mechman arent going to be able to keep up.
Scott Weakley more like add an extra 5k for electrical
Me too
Ooohhh snap 👊💯, congratulations 👍 on not blowing up the sound lab👏👏👏. 👈😎👉✌️out bigD from Modesto,CA
👌😬👍
In the words of Ice Cube and Chris Tucker, DAMMMMNNNN!!!
😱 that amp is crazy. Congrats to the winner.
I dig amps
but this is too deep
just subbed like the contents.
Thanks for watching and commenting 🤙
Damn he was so so close. Beast of an amp.. Huge credit to Orion for a beast of an amp..
What tha f@#$😱 say it with me ...
One if the best Amps I owned was am Orion XTRpro 1000 wrms class D, who clean so powerful , it made my hx2 12s sound fkn crazzyyy
What is there to dislike on this video ? Why is there 11 haters ? 🤣 do they just not like Orion , I didn’t like Orion !!! But shoooot!! Now I do !! 😂🤣😅 i gotta get me one o’ this !!! #WillSmithVoice
I wish they made a 1kW version as I don’t need this much power
BigDWiz turn the gain down or run it at 4 ohms , this thing is a beast ! 😂🤣. You big dummy !!! 😂 but of course you already know that !
@@JP-or1jb I used to love orion...ran hcca back in 2000. Now you couldn't pay me to take it.....I watched how the owner talks to people. Calling them liars when they have an issue ect. There's a reason I run dc audio now.
Thanks for all the work and testing you do Big D...very interesting and informative.. I love the videos
Thanks for watching and commenting!
I wish u would do the Orion xtr4000.1d . i wonder what it is done in actual power output.
Love the hcca series, looking at the subs in this lineup also
Damn something told me to go higher than 10,250🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
Do u know the model number to this amp
Micheal Robinson Orion HCCA 3000.1 D SPLX
This is definitely my favourite amp blows everything else away.cant wait to find the 4.1
13231.... palindrome watts?
Tinfoil hat?
Orion confirms HL3?
How come you did not show the efficiency I'm building an off-grid solar sound system and would love to know what you feel is the most efficient amplifier that puts around 3000 Watt into 2 4ohm loads
I can check as I frequently put this amp in the Dyno
Orion still cheating lol.
How exactly? If you use a current/volt/watt calculator, it adds up based on current pulled from the fluke/multimeter
Holy shittt hahahaha that's awesome
In 97' I worked at a tint place and rehooked the whole sound board. An Orion 225 would easily push 14 speakers. Until the power supply would kick off. The amp was barely over warm. JS
I have this amp on 2 10” HCCA104’s with a Limitless Lithium 6k In my A8. 4th order with a blow thru the center armrest. Got damn!
👍 JC
I would’ve never guessed this high either
HOLY CRAP! lol! 13k watts even from a 5k watt amp would be impressive. even the insane wattage it puts at 1ohm is quite insane.
I enjoyed this video probably more than I should have. Orion is back!
I'm definitely sold. Keep doing what you're doing Big D. Orion is my next course
You can clamp your fluke meter on one of your power cables, and then multiply the result by the number of wires in parallel. That will still allow you to get a reading that would otherwise be OL for the meter.
Yessir, I thought of this too...afterwards 🤷♂️
I didn't call the wattage but I called the winner from the beginning. Awesome series BigD!
Thanks for watching and commenting 👌
One of the best channels on YT big thanks for making this content
Working on it
Back in the 90's we ran two orion hcca 225's with two 15 in orion xtr's and dayum! All those older orion amps were highly under rated! Were talkin amps rated at 300 watts pushing over 1000 real watts. Orion, ppi, earthquake and others created the name "cheater amp".
I think I said 9500 watts but 13k that's insane. Awesome. Give way Big D and congrats on the winner.. 👍👊💪😱😱😱
I would’ve guessed around 10k myself
I'm running my lanzar 2000d at 0.5 on a daily basis with pioneers w3003d..... No issues and I run it hard every day...
Glad you really clamp tested yours 90 volt 90 amp is crazy!!! All stock even better!! Good on you Superstar!!
I saved up a ton of money in the early 90s for a HCCA2150. For my 2 landar 15"s. It was kickass. I had that amp for 10 years. Ty I love that old school stuff.
Oh, my damn... Winner winner chicken dinner.. that's a amazing Dyno.. Orion getting it done.. great video..
Just bought this amp and 2 HCCA104’s and I can’t stinkin wait to put em in the A8!
Wow ! Amazing. I used to run concord amps back in the late 70s.
Have you ever heard or tested any of these. Very high quality. And underatted
It brings happy tears to my eyes to see Orion producing this type of equipment again. Reminds me of the early 90's when $900 econo boxes were moving the earth with some serious junk in the trunk.
👈😬👍
Straight up beast, it's all I can say!
Love what your doing @BigDWiz..... Keep it up....
Thanks for watching and commenting 👌
I guess I was being conservative with my guess being almost 5k below actual.
A 3,000 watt amp at 1 ohm doing 10k over rated at 0.5 ohm is astounding to say the least.
Congrats to the winner...
I guessed low too. I did the math, and came up with 13k watts, but I couldn't believe it would actually do that much
I just bought the orion hcca5000.1DV2. I can't wait to receive it 🙌 😁
That's crazy, I knew it should do over 10K but 13.5K....daaaaaang.
Also you just sold a ton of amps for Orion :)
I should start asking for a percentage 👈😊...nah, I’ll stay independent and let those who perform well speak for themselves
HCCA Still carrying its name. Another Great video among all the great videos you do!
That old school Orion stuff is/was amazing.
