The way to know if you're in it is if you are perfectly happy to be in the state forever. If you're forcing effort, but not really happy to be in the state where nothing moves, then you're concentrating. A necessary first step perhaps, but you haven't reached stillness. The mind doesn't need to move, there doesn't need to be effort, in samadhi.
