    I love lamb roast this way and have followed your recipe with two small changes: 1, I add white wine to the roasting dish instead of water and 2, I stud the lamb with slivers of garlic for extra garlicky flavour. This dish always transports my family and me back to the Greek islands... an Ouzo or two always helps of course! 😅

    The comment below is from my Gran who is a great Greek lover of their food every barbecue in summer is Greek with her favourite side dish of Horta sálata though she can’t get the same wild greens as she likes !

    You should caution people that 3.5 hours cooking time depends on the weight and bone content of the leg! If you’re not sure test the lamb’s internal temp every 15 mins after 60 mins cooking, also don’t put too much water or stock in the pan - maybe half a cup

    I was going to use my slower cooker for Christmas when I am making greek lamb, but your recipe is so easy to follow and looks so flavorful that I'm roasting instead and using your recipe!

    Akis, find it hilarious how you hurl the potatoes into the pan and toss the lemons once you've done with them - very efficient and no nonsense - love it! Found this insert and am trying your recipe today. Wish me luck! :)

    We rear my own lamb and goat here in the UK and the leg of lamb was juicy and full of Greek flavour. 👍👍👍

      Instead of potato I like it to served with fried banana.. In Indonesia we have pisangtanduk or hoRnBanana the textures is so good when its fried. N,4 variant flavour I use coriander pwdr,cumin ,tamarind,palm sugar n using coconut shells for toasted the meat😄,but no worry sir ♓Akis,I♉do really like u'R Greek Lamb recipe

    1-The smallest bone in keg of lamb I was able to get is 1.8 kilos. Will it need to cook longer?
    2-are the cooking times the same with a boneless leg of lamb?

      The juice that came out from the lamb should be enough as light gravy. Mediterranean cuisines are not big in gravy to be honest.

    Άκη, αρχικά χρόνια πολλά, και καλό Πάσχα. Η συνταγή φαίνεται ιδανική. Μπορούμε να χαράξουμε το κρέας (να κάνουμε μικρές εσοχές, όχι μακρύ καρέ) για να ποτίσει περισσότερο η μαρινάδα, ή δεν το χρειάζεται? (όπως καταλαβαίνεις, κάπως πρέπει να παντρέψουμε και τη πατροπαράδοτη παράδοση, μιας και δε με ξαναβλέπω να μαγειρεύω αρνί μέχρι το επόμενο Πάσχα)

      Δεν είμαι Άκης αλλα ειμαι σίγουρη οτι το αρνί δε θελει χαραγμα διοτι θα στεγνώσει. Μπορεις ομως να κανεις πολυ μικρες σχισμες οπου θα μπηξεις σκορδα πιπερια δενδρολιβανο 😊😊😊

    So, my husband is Greek, and his mother does it with oregano instead of rosemary and she puts the garlic slices in the lamb. Is there a reason why not to slit the lamb before?

      He said it wasn't necessary to slit the meat as that marinade would flavour the meat enough
