    Physical cargo is one of my favorite part of Sea of Thieves. It adds a lot to the game. I think it will do the same for SC.

  • @HitmannDDD
    @HitmannDDD 7 дней назад +8

    They've moved us to physicalized inventories, and now they need to focus on making it convenient rather than inconvenient.
    The next step, IMHO, is a quick method to supply gear lockers in your hangar/ ship, and provide one click equip "quick loadout" button. Ideally, each locker could store a few sets of fps gear and have more than one loadout saved.
    I don't want to have to manually load up all of the gear I need in my Carrack, carrying one box at a time from a storage container to the various lockers throughout the ship. Getting ready for an outing would be a game session in and of itself.

    • @clickbaker1
      @clickbaker1 7 дней назад +2

      This is one of my concerns too. I work long hours and havea busy home life, therefore my available spare time to play is limited. I don't want to spend most of my time just transferring my gear/inventory in preparation for missions. Especially when bugs/crashes/glitches could potentially negate all that prep time. I know the game will get more stable in time, but there's always that chance...

    • @BeckyYork

      the next step IMHO is space magic backpacks that can hold 1SCU. What's the point in a lootershooter if you can't loot!

    I play Star Citizen to be immersed in the verse. It makes no difference to me if all i did those 2 hours was load cargo and do a few runs, or had 15 player bounty hunts with intense dogfighting. I dont count my time as "kills per hour". I count it as cozy-per-hour. Chill out after work.
    Some people dont though. Some people will drop off after this (and later, death of a spaceman) update.
    But the game was never meant to be call of duty in space.

    • @luistigerfox

    • @ColonelHess
      @ColonelHess 7 дней назад +2

      I'm happy you feel that way, but is it really worth slowing down the game even more when most people won't like it? I mean, you can still be chill in a game that values your time more- Is it really worth it to turn people away when you would be happy in both situations? I mean, you do want people here to help pay for the game, right? or else you won't have a game.
      You need to be willing to care a little bit about what normal people want, especially when it does nothing to hurt your own gameplay but means the world to them. I will likely endure it, but I find myself playing less and less and spending less and less because, in the end, I don't really like it when my time is wasted. Now you may hate me and people like me, but when push comes to shove, if you drive us out, then we won't have a game to play, but without our money, neither will you.
      I don't mean that in a spiteful way, but it's played out many times in other games, Star Citizen is special though and worth paying for, but the more they make it for just one group, the less appealing it will be to everyone else when just a few concessions would have made all the difference.
      Just a thought. Keep in mind how much coal needs to be shoveled into the furnace every year to keep this hype train running.

    As for the small cargo outposts, i think they said in an SCL that those smaller outposts (without pads or only medium pads), will NOT be really viable in a good way for Carrack / C2 / Caterpillars. Because they will only "sell" small 1-2 SCU boxes, making manual loading a pain, time-wise.
    Its the larger outposts that will "sell" the big boxes, meaning they will be more profit / hour if you have a big ship.

    • @EvenLease44
      @EvenLease44  7 дней назад +2

      Currently the small outposts don’t even have a way to get 1-2 scu boxes, or maybe only a few do. They removed the terminals completely, I’m looking into if that’s temporary (outposts without pads)

    Like Master Modes, I'm totally willing to give this a try and judge it for myself. However, I'm not a fan of how the discussion around this seems to be gravitating towards disingenuous arguments like saying that anyone who doesn't like tedium "JuSt WaNtS CaLl oF dUtY!!1!one!" No, I don't. But it sounds like it's still ultimately the same abstracted inventory menu as before, but with extra steps involved in-between getting to the actual part where you put stuff on your character. I'm sorry, but to me that doesn't actually sound more immersive, it does just sound more tedious. I've never once in this game gone, "Man, I just LOVE spending time in this inventory system! I wish I could do it more! I would absolutely HATE it if I spent less time here and more time doing anything else!"
    I get plenty of immersion parked on microtech watching a sunrise over the trees. I get plenty of immersion when I'm on a bunker run, and I have to pick and choose what to carry back with me because my cyclone only carries a 1scu box and I parked my ship a couple km away. I get plenty of immersion when I'm doing salvaging, and find some quantanium in the target's cargo bay and I need to do some box juggling to make room. I don't get immersed mucking about with the menus that CIG, quite frankly, has never been all that great at designing in the first place.

    "It really slows down your experince but not in a bad way" Bro, when were have so much in the game that slows down the game already its always going to be in a bad way, I like sauce, sauce is great, but like time sinks when you put it everywhere and on everything it becomes a problem, you cant just look at it as a thing on its own. Another way to put it, if I complain to the cook, and he says "but you like sauce!" I say "Yes, but I dont want to have to fish my food out of it" you see what I mean?

      It’s all personal preference, like personally my life is always on the move and I never get to just slow down. So getting into star citizen and it feeling chill and immersive just feels great to me. I know that won’t be the case for everyone but it’s what Star citizen has intended to be since the start.

    This sounds like an incredible update and something thats never been done before in a game. Fully physicalized cargo is... something people have dreamed about, and are now VERY close to having. Its what makes Star Citizen unique. We can play Arena Commander or any of the other space shooter games for instant pew-pew gratification. But only Star Citizen brings you into the world of a Spaceman down to the very smallest detail.

      Right, because playing the game to me is different than it is for some people. Some people just want straight combat right out of bed and some people like me feel the gameplay in doing things like loading cargo. It’s not a run and gun game, but everyone will find their own pacing.

I enjoy that loop, I do ERTs a lot. Get in my ship, hope I dont randomly blow up, kill shit, scan shit, loot shit, and try to sell before getting shit on. Yes I like to log on and get to do something within a 30m window. Sitting in a hangar manually loading after I already pay for cargo if I was going to run that route... naw. I've done this through multiple wipes, and I totally understand that nothing in an Alpha will persist, but we don't need a full wipe with every big patch. Not all of us have hundreds of dollars to spare on imaginary spaceships, or tons of free time to grind from zero over and over.

      The game never had sim flight; and what's there now is way more sim oriented than the glitchy flight model we had before. You have to be very aware of your surroundings now and way more ship weapons are way more useful than before. PLus, light fighters cannot take down corvette or capital class ships, which was ultimately arcadey in the previous versions.

    Imagine having to log in, do all that management stuff, wait a half hour, or manually load a big ass cargo ship, then just friggin' explode on take off because the server said so.
