Thank you Marty!!! I am using old PS CS3 and could never get through any other tutorials to achieve this. They kept using options I couldn't find. You got me 99% of the way there. I did not have a vibrance option from the adjustment layer icon but I think I figured it out! My first attempt looks pretty good. Thanks for taking the time to help.
The best watercolor tutorial i have ever seen, and have seen them a lot, so easy and quick and fantastic result! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Your tutorials are always so clear and well done. I can understand your voice and your direction. Showing the directions on the screen would be very helpful to a Photoshop newbie.
Thank your for making such clear, concise, and short video tutorials!
Thank you. I've been looking at endless Watercolour effect tutorials and the results on most were pretty blah. This one works well!
RichardBriggs...Yes, Elements does have a different set of challenges. Glad it worked out!
This is a great tutorial. It is so easy and the results are amazing. The larger I make the finished image, the better it looks. As it gets larger the watercolor look becomes more prominent.
Your tutorials on watercolor styling are among the best on the Internet...Perhaps only one other blogger has interesting ideas.
But you also have an excellent methodological leadership!
I still use your technique nearly four years later! I still much prefer it over standard PS filter.
I really like the style of your videos. Quick and to the point. I can't wait to try this, thank you!
Wow easy tutorial!! Beautiful artwork! Thank you!!!!
nice on spot focus of all windows that you opened for easy and clearer instructions to follow.
The best watercolor technique I have seen so far!

Great Job Marty, you are very thorough, the command keys are very helpful I just have to go over it a few times to get it all down path. Your skills are Great. Thanks again

Great Tutorial :) worked like a charm
Jennifer Lam... Don't know why the "Normal" mode doesn't work in some cases. I went over each step again in my PSD file and the Normal mode worked perfectly. In any case, I'm glad the "Clear" mode worked for you! :-)
Thank you for this cool technique...used it for one of my pictures, (picture of a landscape), to turn it into a business card...cheers...!!

In CC 2018, I am having problems finding the same DRY BRUSH. I believe I had it in an older version. Can anyone help?
Fantastic, thank you so much.
Thank you for this video, it's a very good tutorial
Thank you so very much. I hope to use this for images for a children's book. I've taken photos and wanted to make them into watercolor, so by doing a search, I found this. I wrote out a step-by-step based on your guidance and will be using that as I work with my photos. If you'd like to see the "almost transcript" for people to download if you think it is correct, I would be glad to share it. Your call. Thank you for sharing the information.
Thank man great stuff
I'm having a problem when I get to the Wet Media Brushes stage. When I brush over the image it subtracts the color. I've gone over the lesson many times, making the adjustments to match yours and it doesn't seem to work for me. Suggestions?
Thank you. I applied this technique to a few images last night. It was a lot of fun. I played with the opacity of the wet brush and got some fantastic results. Defiantly one of my Favorite tutorials. Im going to play some more. .. I would love to see a tutorial on turning photos into airbrush/drawings like to old vargas pinup style. Thank you again.,
That's ABSOLUTELY AWESOME! LOVE THIS!
great tutorial! very simple and easy to understand.
AMAZING TUTORIAL!!! ThanXXX!!!
Thank you! Great results.
Yeah, I do understand totally. thanks for answering
GREAT tutorial. Thanks.
truly great !!
great great tutorial... at :58 you said depending on your image size.... do you have a rule of thumb of radius / threshold for larger / smaller images?
Very good tutorial. Thank you.
I could not find the brushes you have on Photoshop CC 2018.
Great instruction video. Thanks.
Thank you for making this video. I found it very helpful! :-)
Cool tutorial, things well explained without getting wordy, Congrats.
MAAAAN! First of all, thank you for the awesome tutorial. But I could only achieve 90% of it. My CS3 doesn't have adjusting vibrance, Vibrance only starts at cs4, DAMMIT! LOL.............Any way around this problem? Thanks.
its so so helpful. thanks to shear
all good find cheers martin
Brother I am thankful to you
tamer ezzat...Basically, the steps are the same in CS6. Make sure you have the correct layer active when you brush over the image.
thank you for what you do.
excelent tutorial, just 4 minutes , too much info and technique, great result at the end. Thank you
Working great, except when I get to the "Brush" layer, I invert it just fine, but when I click on Layer type "Color Dodge" - mine stays the same: dark and inverted. It does not go light like yours does. Help? Many thanks...this will be super cool if I can get it finished.
Brilliant. You get right to the point. Works pretty much with Elements 10 as well. I had following problems though. Firstly in Elements there is no Adjustment Layer for Vibrance (not that I can find anyway). I used Saturation instead (but not at maximum). But result doesn't seem to need this. Also, I found Foreground/Background colours have to be Black and White when working on the Brushes layer. Took my ages to figure that one out. Maybe this is just an Elements thing.
Good explanation thank you
Best tutorials on youtube!
wow gooooood ❤️❤️❤️
Excellent technique. Thanks
It is awesome for many images, but for fullsized raw images it gets heavy to work with due to the smart blur. Anyway it is one more tool in the workbensch, and I like it.
thanks a lot.
Did you have another version of this, l am looking for it, but can't seem to find it.
after seeing, immediately i have subscribed to ur channel
Fantastic work, thanks for sharing, u r very creative
Smart.... as always...
Marty, I'm using PhotoShop CC. I can't find the Glowing Edge option under stylize. Any idea how I might find it? Thanks!
Great one, Marty.
very nice!
Kuri Matsuki...Yes, but only up to just before you use your brush tool.
I had the same problem too on the brushes.
Hi, thank you for the video. I have used this twice now and created a set of actions up to the brush tool. When I use the brushes, I am left with a very blue & white photo only. I am not sure why the colour is not showing the same as the original (same as your greens etc from your photo). Any ideas please (or has anyone else encountered this??)
Having problem while using brush. After selecting dry brush and setting the opacity to 10 when I try to brush it does not allow saying "could not use the history brush as the canvas size does not match that of the history state"
what program you use to make this tutorial plz?
These videos are Great ,to the point no waste of time. A lot of input by other would take 15 -20 min full of crap just to fill it out.
O, another good tip from you one after one.
How come when I click ok When I am done with the Filter I get red blue and green splotches and ?
Hey, Thank you that was great. but I have a question. I have an image too similar to watercolor painting but I don't know how to make a photo to a picture like that. it has very nice and tidy black hatches and very nice sketch.I was wondering If it is possible to send that image for you to see it and help me figuring out how make such images. thanks again.
cepide eghtedari...I receive numerous requests every week from subscribers asking me to do Photoshop projects or favors for them, but I barely have enough time just to answer the emails receive. I trust you understand.
Does the resolution have to be 72 pixcels?
Can l increase to 300 afterwards so l can print out to 5X7 and larger, or would that effect the finished artwork?
Thank you for this tutorial. I have had several compliments on the artwork l morphed using this technique.
The resolution can be any amount.
a bit complicated but pretty good technique.. good result
WHERE CAN I FIND THE WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS OF THIS TUTORIAL?
Wow
i am using photoshop cs6 , is it the same steps you made here or not , because i tried many time but it failed with me at the last step
