I love it sir. It's beautiful, and yes, I ran into a bad smog pump at one time. It started squealing and crying like crazy metal on metal sounds. And eventually my belt just stopped spinning. But yes I'm a Believer in getting rid of that if you can. I really really like what you did and I thank you so much. Your videos have helped me a lot. I hope you have a great day
I did some more fine tuning today and shes even better now, fixed the exhaust collectors, shimmed the starter motor and some othe little things, runs real quiet and even, can't wait to get it on the highway now ;)
Unfortunately I dont have the part numbers, but if I rememebr correctly, I had to get a number of differemnt belts and try them out, getting the correct size was a matter of trial and error, good luck with the work !
make sure you put the panel back on the driver's side wheel well and fabricate one of the driver's side. The purpose of the panels is to channel the air over the spark plugs to avoid the engine getting too hot and burning the sires because there is no air..
I'm fixing to remove the Air Injection System on My 87. What did you do with the Alternator Belt? Does Yours have Cats and O2 Sensors? I have no Cats, O2 Sensors and No CCC Carburetor. I have an EGR. I have no intentions of removing the Exhaust Manifolds. I'll soak the Fittings with Penetrating Oil and hopefully get the Rail off. I don't see a reason to remove the tubes out of the Exhaust Manifold.
I purchased a shorter alternator belt and that did the trick. I closed the tubes inside the manifold because I was concerned that there would be a reverse shockwave of exhaust gasses since that hole being previously unrestricted, would now have exhaust hitting a flat surface. Weather or not this is a legit concern ? I dont know, but its what I thought, so I did it, and it has worked great so far with no issues.
@@UOttawaScotty Mines a 1987 Gulfstream Sunsport. I will have to convert to R134A. I just looked it up. R134A came out in 1995. I was hoping it was earlier than that. I'm surprised Mine doesn't have an A-6 Compressor. The AC Compressor I have, appears to be an Add-On with a Receiver-Dryer like an Asian Import. Thanks. God Bless, C.
I have a 89 p30 and I need to know how to do this the most simplified way possible, after doing all that any way you can guide me?! Thank you in advance for all information you can possibly share
The simple way is to cut the belt that drives it or replace with one to bypass it. No more exhaust pumping back into your carburetors precious clean cool dense air. Free up some pull on the engine while you're at it. That 454 probably doesn't even know a smog pump is pulling on it because it's such a beast.

@@jameslaiola4976 So happy that they videos helped you with your rig. Mine has been running beutifully ever since. Good luck ;)

fantastic! your work paid off!

Great job Sir. May i respectfully ask if you have the belt part numbers that you used when deleting the smog pumps?

Thats interesting. Where did you hear this ? You talking about the metal panel that covers the master brake cylinder
How did you work around the belt that was connected to alternator when you removed passenger side unit?
I see they are on boards

@@UOttawaScotty Air Pumps are notorious to fail. I was dealing with them in the 80's and 90's mostly. Does Your's have an R-12 AC System?
@@christopherwatson283 It has AC, I am not sure if its R-12 or not, but I would imagine its the exact same as yours.

Are the jack stands just on the dirt?
No, on pieces of plywood
Wonder why two pumps.
