It's common practise to mute strings like that in the studio, where everything has to be perfect. I've watched Andy James live, and can tell you he is just as good live, without any muting agent on his guitars besides his hands.

Jason Richardson from Chelsea Grin.. He has played with all shall perish and born of osiris. Much better player than many of these guys (no offense but that is fact)
notice how almost all of these guys have a great tone, thats why they are famous also, there are alot of guitarist who might be better then them out there but just have a worse tone...and they ALL have delay effect, its makes sweeping easier. for the kiddo in the beginning i am subscribed to him to..he is good and great..but wonder how would you have been if you had top-notch gear at your disposal at that age??
My thought exactly. I mean, these guys are obviously very talented and probably just as good, but when Erock makes covers, he makes MORE than just covers, he makes his own version of the song. Probably fanboy-ism :P I have no way to measure Erocks skill since i am a fan of him ^^

In my opinion, kar98ksniper smokes most of these guys, if not all of them. Not to take away from these players, they're amazing as well, but in terms of metal/shred style, kar98ksniper's technique is utterly flawless and unmistakably clean. His phrasing is ridiculous as most of his videos are improvisations he plays over backing tracks. He's also very knowledgeable about theory as well. Check him out.
