This theme makes it really feel like a sporting event honestly. Like I could legitimately hear this being played at a sporting event / at the world championships for VGC & it would fit perfectly. Cause it's that intense action that really gets you into the setting of the battle.
i really liked this section of the game!! reminds me of what they often did in the anime, with finals leading up to the gym leader/champion. i'm glad they're blurring that line a little bit because when i was a kid it always seemed like the anime did SO MUCH MORE cool stuff than we got in the games!
It’s better when you’re actually immersed in the game. Hypes you up a lot more in the stadium. _People just watching it on youtube can’t fully immerse themselves into the game because they have no control and the choices the person playing makes don’t line up with their own interest and ideas._
I second that! It really feels that much more than just another battle with some random kid in the woods. I really like the more official feeling of the Gym battles in S&S because it makes it feel more important than just something that Trainers do.
I only have three complaints with the champ tournament. 1. Even if you invite a specific trainer, there's no guarantee that you'll actually get to face them. I had to play through five tournaments, inviting marnie each time, before i actually got to face her. 2. The post-game tournament would've been the perfect opportunity to have the other version's gym leaders appear. They could appear randomly, and after beating them, you can invite them in future tournaments. Maybe they'd give you their league card after beating them too, that way you can find out more about them without needing to look it up. 3. The DLC characters can't show up here. I understand mustard and honey not wanting to show up, but what's keeping klara and avery from competing? Why can't we invite them?
Being a hardcore pokemon fan since ruby, I understood most of the criticism before the game came out. But after playing the game I don’t get how people who haven’t played it are still hating gamefreak. Sure this game has its flaws like all games do, and they might have skipped a beat with the national dex, but their delivery and execution of moving pokemon into a next generation is pretty great. This game is phenomenal especially the music and way the battles are executed. I truly believe if your a pokemon fan who didn’t get this title you’re missing out.
I like this game a lot, but it is *SIGNIFICANTLY* flawed. Hell I even played it twice because the game was fun and I liked many of the changes, that being said there are so many issues I have with SwSh aside from the obvious ones. So don't let the team yells from both ends cloud your judgements, lol
Alma I don’t think my judgment is clouded, there are a lot of flaws, there always are when moving into a new generation. They have changed a lot of mechanics that were always in core games that are questionable to a lot of people. But in terms of immersion they definitely took a step in the right direction with the overworld pokemon, animations, character designs, environment and stuff like that. Now that I’ve beat the game there are plenty of things they could have easily changed that would make the game better. But overall this game is far from the worst pokemon title like people are claiming. I just think if you are a pokemon fan you won’t be disappointed with these games. I think what gamefreak needs to do better however is build upon their previous games. They have a tendency to delete and add features regardless of how they are perceived by their audience.
@@austinj1121 honestly what saddens me the most is some of the really reallly good in swsh won't come back in the future. Like camaaaaan build upon a good foundation. Keep the stuff people like :/ oh well. What can ya do
Alma You can’t do anything except voice your opinion. I guess we’ll see if all the criticism changes pokemon for the good or worse. Or if it has literally no effect whatsoever lol. Hopefully they do build upon a good foundation and each game gets better and better.
Honestly this is one of my favorite themes in the franchise. I absolutely love the progression of it and how new instruments are brought in whilst also not taking over from the battle. The theme mixes beautifully with what's at stake in battle.
@Ihsaan Shaikh Don't worry mate. He's clearly just looking for a reaction so It's best to ignore him. But thank you for speaking up, it's nice to see that :)
Can we take a second to appreciate the fact that every single Elite Four theme since Gen 5 (not including remakes) have all followed this trend of "shredding" ridiculously hard for no reason? Because it's fucking glorious.
I headcanon that Galar used to have an Elite Four made of the top percentile of Gym Leaders, who had to step down from being actual Leaders to be Elite Four. But they were unhappy because they spent most of the season just sitting on their hands and only ever getting the chance to maybe fight one challenger. That, and the Gym Leaders resented them for being "stronger" despite never actually officially battling that much. Because both sides were unhappy, the League eventually abolished the Elite Four and tucked their functionality in with the Gym Leaders themselves. The result is that the winning challenger had to go through a bracket tournament with the strongest Leaders before getting the chance to fight the Champion.
I literally got it at level 25 from a double battle with the dude in the Motostoke sweet shop or whatever. Had the leek, used Brutal Swing and crit everything including my own Corvisquire, and it evolved immediately after. I'm not saying it isn't hard, but there's easier ways to go about it.
I thought this is gonna be a bad game because they removed half of the pokemon but when I started playing it was really good and I had fun with pokemon sword and shield
I hope in the next generation they add an Elite Four and maintain the Tournament style battle. But tweak how Elite Four have their Pokémons. Instead of type maybe focus on their on their personality, profession or likes. Example: Elite Four 1st Elite Four. Theme: Evolution - Jolteon, Vaporeon, Flareon, Espeon, Umbreon, Sylvion. 2nd Elite Four Theme: Serpent - Seviper, Arbok, Gyrados, Steelix, Milotic, Serperior 3rd Elite Four Theme: Beauty - Lopunny, Roserade, Froslass, Ninetails, Primarina, Tsareena 4th Elite Four Theme: Predator - Liepard, Sharkpedo, Braviary, Centiskorch, Pyroar
What about battle style? 1st Elite 4: All-out offense. Focuses on power 2nd Elite 4: Confound with speed Focuses on going first 3rd Elite 4: Sustain and longevity Focuses on wearing you down and staying alive 4th Elite 4: Balanced style Offensive - defensive mode of combat
The Scarlet Violet Elite Four sounds so similar to this that I had to come back. I really like this theme and that they interpolated it in the new games!
Same here, came back to double check what I remember from this, and I knew they sounded similar in parts, both in key and some motifs that were carried over
Honestly, the Galar gym system makes so much more sense to me than all of the other generations. Pokémon Battling is this thing that so many people do and love, yet the gyms are basically empty except for the people who work there, and the biggest event in Battling is tucked away in some obscure corner of the region? That doesn't add up to me. It makes far more sense that professional Pokémon battling is something that would draw crowds, so why wouldn't it basically be the equivalent of a major sports league, with the Elite Four/Champion basically being their equivalent of the World Cup? Or...Super Bowl, I guess, since this system is regional and not worldwide.
I love this tournament concept, What I’d love to see is a dedicated elite 4 you fight on first playthrough that you just so happen to see in bracket, and then have this more PWT style tourney in all future rematches
This is one of my favorite tracks from Sword/Shield. I love a lot of Sword/Shield's tracks in general...this one is one of my top favorites. I love the intense edm vibes at the beginning and how it progresses and becomes more intense as the track continues. And the guitars throughout really give it something extra. Does that make sense? I love the overall vibe of this theme. It's epic and it makes better use of the cheering too.
@Merciless Freak Everyone has different opinions though plus at sporting events alot of people's chanting and singing is offkey. This is not only accurate but an awesome addition. I rather enjoy it myself and get psyched.
I so agree! While swsh does have it's flaws, it's still a great game and should be recognized for all the great features it brought and the features it improved!
If GF decides to give this game a sequel, I hope to god the story is better. SwSh definitely has fun gameplay, but the story is lacking a lot. Not every first game of every new generation will be perfect, that's why they come up with upgraded versions with a better story. Though for BW and B2W2, the story for them was definitely amazing and was perfect. Here's to hoping that SwSh v2 or the sequels will have a similar tone to BW/B2W2's story: making it intimidating and thrilling.
@@paullossypaulplossy One pattern I've noticed with pokemon is, GF will release a new generation on a console then they will release another gen on the same console and the second gen realeased was always much better than the first gen released on that console. So in conclusion gen 9 will be the pokemon switch game everyone wanted
I understand the hate against gigantamax, the removed pokemon, some of the pokemon designs, the rushed story etc, but: The ost is good Actual tournament league > 5 Fixed trainers Best visuals yet Many cool pokemon designs, no keys or trash-mountains here.
I mean yes, but you gotta agree that this theme is pretty underwhelming for most of its duration considering the important role it plays. Good startup though, maybe the best one so far.
*"You fought the most powerdul pokémon who basically can end the whole Galar. Maybe even the whole world! Then you caught it succesfully. You saved the whole region and maybe the whole world."* The Protagonist (you): I saved the world! Well time to continue the battle on being a champion.
I think I love the concept of the tournament style battle to reach the champion. I just hope that in the future they keep the same mechanic but put an elite for as the last challenge you need to face after you won against the challengers to reach the champion.
i mean technically there is an elite 4 its bede, nessa, bea(sword) Allister(sheild),and rihan. No specific 4 differnt people but still similar to the e4 we all know. but it would be nice to have an e4 ontop of the turney style.
Kinda ironic that there's only 4 songs in sword and shield that use electric guitar (Marnie's theme, piers theme, team yell and this) even though great Britain is famous for being the birthplace of metal/modern rock music. You'd think there would be more use of it

You can even hear a whistle keeping the beat/tune to make sure everyone is in sync
I already liked that part of the theme, but this one is so good
Hey guys, Raihan here and welcome to my stream. Today I plan on making some poor sappy Nuzlocke player cry by using Gigantamax.
Now give us DLC with all of the gym leaders and champions from other regions, like the Pokemon World Tournament. This format is really suited to this.
Yes! *Aggressively taps like button*

When the portion with the crowd chanting kicks in it always gets me hype.
The crowd chanting when the gym leader dynamaxs their pokemon is the best part
Aero Blaze ... Meh.
That must have been soul crushing for Kabu though.
When the chanting starts. It’s easy to imagine the referee also loses his shit and goes ballistic on his whistle
The beginning of this theme is so powerful.
Fun fact: This song’s alternate title is “The only thing I ever use in online battles”
2:32 love this crowd singing part so much
YUMP
I love it too.
Cheers fellows 🎁
It’s like crack in audio form
We know they cut off the national dex but can we all just appreciate how good these soundtracks are
I only have three complaints with the champ tournament.
Yeah, I can't wait for December
Honestly this is one of my favorite themes in the franchise. I absolutely love the progression of it and how new instruments are brought in whilst also not taking over from the battle. The theme mixes beautifully with what's at stake in battle.
@Ihsaan Shaikh Don't worry mate. He's clearly just looking for a reaction so It's best to ignore him. But thank you for speaking up, it's nice to see that :)
Merciless Freak your troll is just bad
I love how the elite four ARE the gym leaders... Shows you how much more powerful galar trainer's are vs other region's

Can we take a second to appreciate the fact that every single Elite Four theme since Gen 5 (not including remakes) have all followed this trend of "shredding" ridiculously hard for no reason?
Because it's fucking glorious.
Okay when the crowd cheers on its straight up hype. When I first heard this when I was playing Shield it was absolute gold.
I like to think that the audience's melody at 2:45 is a part of your theme, since you never hear it unless you're winning
Our theme could also be the Battle Tower theme
Is it just me or are they say go go go go go go!
First time I heard this song I had just an overwhelming feeling of “oh sh*t, they’re not playing around. They’re serious!”
Doesnt help that Nessa is sitting there with her arms folded and staring you down while her hair flows like water
*unpopular* *opinion* : I love this game ☺
I mean, I can understand why people might complain over other stuff. But why is the dex still an issue.
Popular opinion for people that played it unpopular opinion to people who haven't
@@DreamyShepherd I can respect that. I haven't played it, but I honestly got over the Dex issue.
DreamyShepherd bruh so true
@@DreamyShepherd This game is very great.
Implying this theme doesn’t actually belong to the semi-but-not-really-generic Gym Challengers you get to fight postgame.
Pour one out for Pokeli for never figuring out how to evolve their Farfetch'd.
I love how his team is fully evolved except farfetched because it's hard to evolve landing 3 critical hits in one battle
Nessa is Archie and shellys daughter
Just putting that thought in your brain :>
this is acceptable.
Yea, this could work
Why did I look up Shelly?!
Brown skin, water user, you do make a point
I think Kabu is related to Maxie
His league card says that he is from Hoen
Does this guy srsly have a farfetchd this late in the game
Can’t blame them, the evolution method is kinda tricky even with the leek
I literally got it at level 25 from a double battle with the dude in the Motostoke sweet shop or whatever. Had the leek, used Brutal Swing and crit everything including my own Corvisquire, and it evolved immediately after. I'm not saying it isn't hard, but there's easier ways to go about it.
I do recommend putting Focus energy on it to help it get crits more, then Fury Cutter on something like a steel type that resist.
i was able to get it first battle without even trying lmao
Decidueye False Swipe with the leek could be a good technique too.
I got it evolved first try thanks to Hop and his extremely easy fights.👌
Raihan might be my favorite gym leader in the series
@Merciless Freak don't you have something better to do?
@Merciless Freak well, your life must be pretty boring.
@Merciless Freak well good for you.
@Merciless Freak
3 for 3, hm..
I thought this is gonna be a bad game because they removed half of the pokemon but when I started playing it was really good and I had fun with pokemon sword and shield
ye
They have a lot of neat things in this game while limiting teams made me Sad this game is still one of my favourites (top 5)
Look at me and say this with a straight face now that violet and scarlet are out
I hope in the next generation they add an Elite Four and maintain the Tournament style battle. But tweak how Elite Four have their Pokémons. Instead of type maybe focus on their on their personality, profession or likes. Example:
Elite Four
1st Elite Four.
Theme: Evolution - Jolteon, Vaporeon, Flareon, Espeon, Umbreon, Sylvion.
2nd Elite Four
Theme: Serpent - Seviper, Arbok, Gyrados, Steelix, Milotic, Serperior
3rd Elite Four
Theme: Beauty - Lopunny, Roserade, Froslass, Ninetails, Primarina, Tsareena
4th Elite Four
Theme: Predator - Liepard, Sharkpedo, Braviary, Centiskorch, Pyroar
^ Also I want the 1st Elite Four from this to be your rival with a personality similar to Hop’s, signifying their growth as they battled against you
They somewhat already did this with raihan, as he isn’t a pure dragon leader but a weather themed leader
What about battle style?
1st Elite 4: All-out offense. Focuses on power
2nd Elite 4: Confound with speed
Focuses on going first
3rd Elite 4: Sustain and longevity
Focuses on wearing you down and staying alive
4th Elite 4: Balanced style
Offensive - defensive mode of combat
@@Bucketeer924 Yeah that's why I was completely caught of guard with him. I hope they do more of that.
yes!!!!
Anyone who uses Golisopod immediately goes on my list of chads. You're just cool if you use them.
DUDE THIS THEME IS TERRIFYING I LOVE IT
I like how it has the anime build that you face the gym leaders then face off with other trainers in the championship.
I love this tournament concept, What I’d love to see is a dedicated elite 4 you fight on first playthrough that you just so happen to see in bracket, and then have this more PWT style tourney in all future rematches
nessa is one of the most good looking gym leaders ive seen ngl
Same with elesa xd
Nessa: *takes out Golisopod*
Behind me: *door breaks* HEEEREEE'S GUZMA!
Me: *screams*
I enjoyed this, actually more than the typical elite 4
Tournament setups are fun
The first 10 seconds were the best part in my opinion
This is one of my favorite tracks from Sword/Shield. I love a lot of Sword/Shield's tracks in general...this one is one of my top favorites. I love the intense edm vibes at the beginning and how it progresses and becomes more intense as the track continues. And the guitars throughout really give it something extra. Does that make sense? I love the overall vibe of this theme. It's epic and it makes better use of the cheering too.
Finally!
No blabbing about the game being crappy or not!
My favourite leader here is Raihan, and in all the games
Oh my god-
Same opinion than me!
Thanks you so much!!
I like you a lot ~ (★w★)

@Merciless Freak oka ma' not good bruhda
Honestly this is my favorite battle theme just because of the crowd
I love the spectators singing in da backround in the finals
I love the melody taken from the Hoenn Elite Four theme at 1:00-1:05
I actually like the elite leader concept, something new :)
When the chanting kicks in I get chills
@Merciless Freak Everyone has different opinions though plus at sporting events alot of people's chanting and singing is offkey. This is not only accurate but an awesome addition. I rather enjoy it myself and get psyched.
I can never unhear that one guy out of tune at 2:50 😂.

Just when I thought something couldn’t top the Gym Leader theme, THIS MASTAPIECE shows up
I haven't played Gen 8 in so long I forgot how much this theme slaps
Best music in this game hands down.
It's not the best pokemon game but it's a huge step in the right direction
I so agree! While swsh does have it's flaws, it's still a great game and should be recognized for all the great features it brought and the features it improved!
My thoughts exactly! If only they had more time to refine it. I’m sure if given another year, this could’ve been the Pokemon game everyone wanted
@@Hogglefath This aged...very poorly.
I understand the hate against gigantamax, the removed pokemon, some of the pokemon designs, the rushed story etc, but:
The ost is good
Actual tournament league > 5 Fixed trainers
Best visuals yet
Many cool pokemon designs, no keys or trash-mountains here.
scorbunny doesn't evolve into a fire-fighting type though, it stays pure fire
@@Remy202 ye, noticed that afterwards - imma just edit the comment ^^
I mean yes, but you gotta agree that this theme is pretty underwhelming for most of its duration considering the important role it plays. Good startup though, maybe the best one so far.
@@Tramon81 Id say everything with it is ok, except i absolutely hate the cheering.
I mean they did add a gigantamax garbodor so there are actually trash mountains here.
Whenever I hear that crowd cheering, it reminds me of Super Smash Bros' crowd for cheering on the character you're playing. It is awesome!
*"You fought the most powerdul pokémon who basically can end the whole Galar. Maybe even the whole world! Then you caught it succesfully. You saved the whole region and maybe the whole world."*
The Protagonist (you): I saved the world!
I just realized that when Robin (the Farfetch'd) used Leaf Blade at 0:45 it synced perfectly with the music 🥺
To quote from Patrick Starfish
"You're hot!"
I love how even though there's no "Elite Four" you still fight 4 people before Leon because Bede interrupts the tournament.
Massive memories from the early game... man ♡
After the BAD ASS theme from Pokemon Black and White, nothing can surpass that masterpiece.
It's SO Toby Fox to have the Leitmotif he made reused for a later song.
Kinda ironic that there's only 4 songs in sword and shield that use electric guitar (Marnie's theme, piers theme, team yell and this) even though great Britain is famous for being the birthplace of metal/modern rock music. You'd think there would be more use of it
This is just an insane remix of the gym battle music.
*Good job.*
This song is so HYPE and The guitar and audience Just makes it so much better
