I've been using XPS computers for the last 19 years. My first XPS, an XPS 400, lasted me from 2006 through 2018 as my daily (and I mean DAILY) driver. I did have to replace the power supply and upgrade the graphics card, but those only cost me about $50 each. A truly wonderful purchase, the XPS 400, so much so that when it came time to buy a replacement, I went with the XPS 8930 and have been using it with all stock parts ever since. It runs virtually the same as it did out of the box, and I've used it for gaming, productivity, and even some light (but important) video editing for family. It's been 6 years already and I'm thinking it'll probably run another 6 with minor replacements--but I'm already shopping around for my next XPS machine.

Thank you Scott. I was interested in a XPS with a i7-14700K. Found out that even if they are relatively cheaper in their category, it's still quiet pricy with a RTX 4060Ti, wich is far from being a performing Gcard. The RTX 4070 Ti 16GB is not offered, nor the RTX 4080 (not any more). I also choosed a 32GB RDD5 RAM and de 1T SSD + 2T HHD, but thank you for telling me it's noisy : I hate noisy environment! :) Oh by the way, The computer (descktop) I'mpresently using, I assembled it in April 2008, and it's still running (Windows 7 Pro). I had to replace de SSD, and few HDDs once. Runs a AMD two cores unleached to 4 since the beginning. Lost the image partion after some years. Don't know why, and couldn't get it back so I used it without an image for around a decade. I have subcribed to your channel.

      NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 4070Ti SUPER 16GB GDDR6X

This can all change because I think it depends what Dell has in the warehouse at the time of the order so some options can come and go.

Any clicking is FAILING CAPACITORS fron the PSU. They are known on all 750W PSU. I tried 3 of these with same noises and whine. The 1000W is nicer and no clicks. I'm looking at putting a 4070TI SUPER in it as that is ample for all things VR which has REPRO already anyways. Any higher is unused and not an easy fit with cooling space issues for GPU fans. Those may need the Right-Angled 12vpwr Adapter but still is a tight fit for the case.

it`s an internal antenna, I would try to move the PC around if you can, se if flipping the case around or mving it to the top of the desk or under the desk would make a difference. Other options is removing the internal antenna and replace with this:
      www.amazon.com/Deal4GO-External-FV8D6-Replacement-Alienware/dp/B0CCDG84VF
Additionally once you have external connectors , you can get a much better signal with this antenna:

It’s not, that the first like has two little stick antenna what you have to attach to your PC box. It will be better than the internal antenna but the eBay antenna has a longer cable so you have a freedom to move the actual antenna around to get the best possible signal out of your WiFi.
The first item we would use just to convert the internal antenna to external antenna.
The second item is optional but in my experience it can double your WiFi speed compared to the stick antennas.

Officially it`s not supported but I am pretty sure it will run Windows 11 just fine and it’s also free to upgrade from 10. to 11
If you have a full backup just go to Microsoft and use the first option described in this video:
      ruclips.net/video/JqJo45bNepo/видео.htmlsi=vsjCOpuXEIIPOEvR&t=1467
      Windows 11 installation assistant:
This is also called in place upgrade, your Windows 10 will be upgraded to W11 with all the software’s, all the settings and all the data like nothing happened.
It will ask you if you want to keep all your apps and data as is, make sure it`s select that option.
I upgraded at least 200+ computers from 10 to 11 at this point with the update assistant and hardly ever ran into any issue. I am planning to make a short video on this topic next week.

The second part of this video will be out first week in April where I test the same pc with an advance tower air cooler.
Third part probably will be out soon after that where I will upgrade the cpu to i9-14900k and repeat all tests with three different cooler.

@@Scott.The.IT.Guy. I ask because I just returned their 8960 w/ i7-13700K, liquid cooled, because the pump emitted a continual ANNOYING 120Hz whine, while the 2 case mounted cooling fans were nearly inaudible. I will see what they put on the CPU with the 'advanced air cooled' option. I thought an Arctic cooler would be simple to install if need be...

Only problem we run into with none Dell parts regards of coolers is the adjustable fan speed. Sounds dumb but a lot of the fans are just running on the highest rmp and have no way to resolve that.

Looking at the 8960, chatted with dell and they told me MAX storage is 4TB total???? They said if I purchase it with a 2TB SSD then I can only add a 2TB HDD for backup???? Doesn't sound right, can anyone verify this information?

    • @Scott.The.IT.Guy.
      @Scott.The.IT.Guy.  6 месяцев назад +1

What they told you is exactly what’s listed under the dell user manual, however if you go to Dell.com and select the customizable 8960 you can clearly select a 4 TB m2 drive and you still have two additional Sata drive option where I am pretty sure you can put whatever size drive you want and you still have one more m.2 slot availalbe.
Looking at Amazon and Newegg right now, the 8960 is listed with a 1 TB SSD and one 12 TB HDD combo. Walmart has one 8960 listed with an 8 TB SSD + 12 TB HDD, no details on it. Not sure if this is a 4 TB m2 + 4 TB SATA SSD + 12 TBHDD or some other mix.

@@Scott.The.IT.Guy. I really appreciate the reply! When I "chatted" with dell this is what they told me???? So if I purchase it with a 2tb ssd what would be the max HDD I could add as a second, backup, drive
( 6m 0s ) Dell Advisor - Symantak: You can add another 2 TB of HDD
( 6m 51s ) Dell Advisor - Symantak: Total storage has to 4 TB. either 2+2 or just one drive of 4 TB
Confusing and doesn't seem right with a premium build?

@@elknrut Sometimes support is not helpful, all they do is keep repeating what’s in the manual or they are just reading a script as an answer, and they can’t say anything else.
