    My daughter’s 2011 Equinox 2.4 developed an oil consumption issue about 1-1/2 years ago, at around 60k. When she brought it in to the GMC/Buick dealer for a routine oil change, the technician noted on the invoice that it was low on oil on arrival. This was a surprise, as it hadn’t used much up to that point. The service salesman brought it to her attention, and began a consumption survey, where they had her bring it in every 1000 miles for an oil level check and top off. After about three or four visits, they gave her a new car to drive while they replaced the rings and timing chain assembly with upgraded parts. I don’t know what other internal parts may have been involved. The dealer staff was really proactive, as she could have ended up with the same scenario. This was the result of a GM service bulletin where they will do this for this particular engine up to 120,000 miles. I think it was initially around 70k, but it was extended around the time it was discovered. I think the required threshold is 1qt in 1500 miles, but I’m not entirely sure about that. She is the second owner, but there was still no charge to her. It has run flawlessly since; commuting daily with several long trips logged.

    You can you the newer 2012 transmission as well dispite what the compatibility charts say. They all wanted $1200 for 2010 and 2011. The transmission was plug and play. Saved me $600

    Im doing this swap on a 2011 Buick Regal. The timing finally jumped so I parked it. Its just been sitting for 2 months and now has no brakes and a maf code appeared which after replacing the sensor and back probing looks like an ECM MAF circuit failure.Its a pretty car and the girls seem to like it but man it seems to break just sitting there. LOL!

    Ive done dozens of chains etc in these 2.4 engines but apparently never in a 2010 yet.. customers original engine was smoked with metal so i didn't risk it and got a used lower mileage 2010 engine.. well long story short, ove warrantied 2 different engines and STILL cannot figure out why im getting p0016/p0017 codes.. correlation codes. I set timing like any other time ive done then. 2nd engines i take cam reluctor had spun and gm discontinued the intake cam for that year. Its a 1 YEAR ONLY! 🤦‍♂️ so 3rd engine i put in was good. But im STILL getting the codes. Ive read you set timing like normal, but move the intake dowel hole to 5 o clock. I did that but still no solution.. does all of the colored linka line up like usual even tho im movinf that intake cam??

    The one thing i noticed is you didn't installed the PCV valve back. This was also an issue with this engine 2.4l. Did that changed or was it eliminated with this engine?

    Very curious to know how that 2015 LEA is doing? I have the same engine in 2015 Equinox and right around 90 thousand it's been shit ever since. Intake and exhaust cam positioning sensors continuously throwing codes, mysterious electrical problem very recently (battery draining), P0172 code which means timing chain or high pressure fuel pump. Diesels when turned off. Only has 104,000 so irritating!

    • @vinniekung4680
      @vinniekung4680  Год назад

      I removed it with the transmission still in. Some bolts are hard to get to and it’s a real tight fit against the frame rail. Possible in other words. Others prefer to drop the entire subframe and powertrain as one piece.

    So could anyone tell me if I could swap a 2.4L out of a 09 cobalt into a 2014 Terrain with a toasted 2.4L? just curious as it is nearly impossible to find a used 2.4L out of a terrain anywhere, and I have a cobalt sitting with a good 2.4L engine.

      @bq4140 6 лет назад

      Fyi: we would have to toss in the LEA engine wiring harness also, because of the throttle body wiring connector being different from the LAF one.
      So the intake cam gear swap labor is the way to go...
